1982 United States Proof Set, 6 Coins Inside 1982 United States Proof Set, 6 Coins Inside

1982 United States Proof Set, 6 Coins Inside

Lot #2411 (Sale Order 10 of 1822)

1982 United States Proof Set, 6 Coins Inside. The 1982-S Proof Set is one of the more affordable modern issue sets. Sales were down from 1981, but the mintage was 3.8 million to fill collector demand. Each set contained five coins: One example each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Kennedy Half Dollar. A sixth piece, a Proof Treasury Token in Bronze, was included to fill the hole occupied in the previous years by the Anthony Dollar.About the sets: All coins in the 1982-S Proof Set were intended to have a Cameo or Deep Cameo Finish. All of the Cents in the 1982-S Proof Sets are of the Large Date variety, and all are of the old bronze composition (as opposed to the newer Copper-plated Zinc). Reportedly, some Proof Small Date Cents were struck in Bronze, but none have been seen, and all were supposedly destroyed. On the Large Date Cents, the 2 of the date is close to the rim; on the Small Date Cent, the date is far away from the rim.Mintage: 3,857,479 setsOriginal packaging: The coins of the 1982-S Proof Set were placed in individual holes in a red plastic insert, then sealed in a two-piece, clear plastic case. The clear plastic case containing the coins slid into a molded, black plastic frame, with the raised silver letters "UNITED STATES PROOF SET" for storage. For display purposes, the frame served as a base for the case containing the coins, which fit into a slot in the frame. A black card slipcase, imprinted in silver with the words: "United States Proof Set • 1982", protected both the case and the frame.

1968 Canada 10 Cents 10c KM-72 Grades Select Unc

Lot #2430 (Sale Order 24 of 1822)

1968 Canada 10 Cents 10c KM-72 Grades Select Unc. Elizabeth was born in Mayfair, London, as the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York (later King George VI and Queen Elizabeth). Her father acceded to the throne in 1936 upon the abdication of his brother, King Edward VIII, making Elizabeth the heir presumptive. She was educated privately at home and began to undertake public duties during the Second World War, serving in the Auxiliary Territorial Service. In November 1947, she married Philip Mountbatten, a former prince of Greece and Denmark, and their marriage lasted 73 years until Philip's death in 2021. They had four children: Charles, Prince of Wales; Anne, Princess Royal; Prince Andrew, Duke of York; and Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex. When her father died in February 1952, Elizabeth—then 25 years old—became queen regnant of seven independent Commonwealth countries: the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, and Ceylon, as well as Head of the Commonwealth. Elizabeth has reigned as a constitutional monarch through major political changes such as the Troubles in Northern Ireland, devolution in the United Kingdom, the decolonisation of Africa, and the United Kingdom's accession to the European Communities and withdrawal from the European Union. The number of her realms has varied over time as territories have gained independence, and as some realms have become republics. Her many historic visits and meetings include state visits to the People's Republic of China in 1986, the Russian Federation in 1994, the Republic of Ireland in 2011, and visits to or from five popes.Significant events have included Elizabeth's coronation in 1953 and the celebrations of her Silver, Golden, Diamond and Platinum jubilees in 1977, 2002, 2012, and 2022, respectively. Elizabeth is the longest-lived and longest-reigning British monarch, the oldest and longest-serving incumbent head of state, and the second-longest reigning sovereign monarch in world history. She has faced occasional republican sentiment and press criticism of the royal family, particularly after the breakdown of her children's marriages, her annus horribilis in 1992, and the death in 1997 of her former daughter-in-law Diana, Princess of Wales. However, support for the monarchy in the United Kingdom has been and remains high, as does her personal popularity. Elizabeth died aged 96 at Balmoral Castle, Aberdeenshire, and was succeeded by her eldest son, Charles III.

1981 United States Proof Set, 6 Coins Inside!! 1981 United States Proof Set, 6 Coins Inside!!

1981 United States Proof Set, 6 Coins Inside!!

Lot #2434 (Sale Order 26 of 1822)

1981 United States Proof Set, 6 Coins Inside!!. The 1981-S Proof Set contained the last Susan B. Anthony Dollar ever issued in the Proof Set. However, the design was resurrected in 1999 for one more year, but never issued in Proof Sets or Mint Sets. Like the 1979-S Proof Set, the 1981-S is found with two types of mintmarks "Round Top and Plato (Flat) Top", with the "Plato (Flat) Top" variety being considerably more valuable than the Round Top.Each set contained six coins: One example each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Anthony Dollar.About the sets: All coins in the 1981-S Proof Set were intended to have a Cameo or Deep Cameo Finish. The coins in the 1981-S Proof Set come with two distinctly different mintmarks, known as Type 1 and Type 2. The Type 1 variety (or "Round Top" variety) is actually a worn version of the "Plato (Flat) Top" Type 2 variety of 1979, which had deteriorated by 1981. On the Type 2 variety, the mintmark is clearly defined, and the serifs are separated from the diagonal stroke of the "S". Of the two varieties, the Type 2 "Plato (Flat) Top S" is the more desirable. The most valuable 1981-S Proof Sets are those in which all of the coins are of the Plato (Flat) Top S variety; the value of partial sets drops dramatically, depending on the number of "Plato (Flat) Top S" coins in the set. The Dollar and Cent Type 2 carry the biggest premium.

1978 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside

Lot #2450 (Sale Order 39 of 1822)

1978 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside. Though it is the last Proof Set to contain an Eisenhower Dollar (which is also the last full-sized Dollar produced by the U.S. Mint), the 1978-S Proof Set remains affordable. However, expect this to change over time, as more and more sets are broken up for individual, high-quality examples and for the Proof-only coins that make up this set. Each set contained six coins: One example each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Anthony Dollar.About the sets: Beginning in 1978, all Proof coins were struck with Cameo or Deep Cameo Finishes.

1968 United States Mint Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!! 1968 United States Mint Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!

1968 United States Mint Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!

Lot #2470 (Sale Order 57 of 1822)

1968 United States Mint Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!. A very small number of Proof 1968-S Dimes were struck without a mintmark. Although Proof coins were being struck at the San Francisco Mint at the time, responsibility for making the Proof dies (and adding the mintmark) rested with the Philadelphia Mint. Apparently, at least one die was sent from Philadelphia without the mintmark and a small number of "S"-less Dimes were struck and released before the error was discovered. Less than two dozen of the "S"-less 1968-S Proof Dimes are known to exist. Because the "S"-less Proof sets are valuable, be sure to examine the case for signs of tampering and substitution. Do not purchase an individual "S"-less Dime or complete Proof Set unless it has been authenticated by an expert.A number of different and exciting very rare varieties may be hiding in your 1968-S Proof Set:• Doubled Die Obverse Cent – check "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERTY"• Doubled Die Obverse Dime – check "IN GOD WE TRUST" and "LIBERTY"• Doubled Die Reverse Dime – check any of the reverse lettering, the torch, and the leaves• Doubled Die Obverse Quarter – check "IN GOD WE TRUST"," LIBERTY", and the date• Doubled Die Reverse Quarter – check any of the reverse lettering• Doubled Die Obverse Half Dollar – check "IN GOD WE TRUST"Original packaging: The individual coins of the 1968-S Proof Set were inserted into holes in a black plastic insert, then sealed in a two-piece, clear plastic case. The case was then inserted into a protective outer cover consisting of blue cardboard imprinted with "United States Proof Set • 1968."

1977 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!

Lot #2484 (Sale Order 67 of 1822)

1977 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!. The Treasury raised the price of the 1977-S Proof Sets to $9.00. Sales dropped to just over 3.2 million sets - was this because the Mint returned to the old stand-by designs for the Quarter, Half Dollar, and Dollar, or because of the increased price?Original packaging: The individual coins of the 1977-S Proof Set were sealed in a two-piece, clear plastic case. Raised rings of plastic separated the coins from each other, and a red, felt-covered paper insert was added for visual impact. The clear plastic case containing the coins was inserted into a molded, black plastic frame with the raised silver letters "UNITED STATES PROOF SET", and a hinged flap that could be flipped over for display purposes. A black card cover imprinted with silver letters, "United States Proof Set • 1977" protected both the case and the frame. Each set contained six coins: One example each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Eisenhower Dollar.About the sets: 1977-S Proof Coins are found with Brilliant, Cameo, and Deep Cameo surfaces.

These distinctive $1 Federal Reserve Notes bear the signature of Joseph W. Barr, who served as Secretary of the Treasury during the last 28 days of President Lyndon B. Johnson's administration. Barr was replaced when President Nixon chose a successor. Due to Barr's short term, his signature appeared only on the $1 notes of Series 1963B.

1922 Germany 10,000 Mark Vampire Note P# 70 Grades vf+

Lot #2507 (Sale Order 85 of 1822)

1922 Germany 10,000 Mark Vampire Note P# 70 Grades vf+. Among the many bills issued during the hyperinflation crisis in the post-WWI German Weimar Republic, the "Vampire Note" is a particular standout. It is known as the Vampire Note because when the note's engraver (identity unknown) adapted a portrait by famous German Renaissance painter Albrecht Durer for the note, he made an odd alteration where the neck of the figure looks like a Vampire when the bill is rotated 90 degrees. It takes some imagination to see, but was intentional and meant to represent the anti-French sentiment in WWI Germany -- France was considered to be "sucking the life out of" the country following the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. The Reichsbank noticed this alteration, but did not change it, printing several varieties of the bill with the design and giving credence to the popular anti-French sentiment. There are three varieties, Pick # 70 and 71 differing in the reverse design, and Pick # 72 being a smaller version of Pick # 71.

1975 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!! 1975 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!

1975 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!

Lot #2508 (Sale Order 86 of 1822)

1975 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!. 1975-S Proof Sets had collectors scratching their heads, asking "Why are the Dollar, Half Dollar, Quarter coins dated 1976?" In preparation for America's 200th Birthday, the U.S. Mints began producing Bicentennial Quarters, Half Dollars, and Dollars in 1975 that were dated 1976. Proof versions of these patriotic designs were included in 1975 Proof Sets, helping to boost sales by over 200,000 units. Each set contained six coins: One example each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Bicentennial Washington Quarter (Copper-Nickel Clad), Bicentennial Kennedy Half Dollar (Copper-Nickel Clad), and Bicentennial Eisenhower Dollar (Copper-Nickel Clad).About the sets: 1975-S Proof Coins are found with Brilliant, Cameo, and Deep Cameo surfaces. All three finishes are readily available.Mintage: 2,845,450 setsAn unknown (but extremely small) number of Proof 1975-S Dimes were struck without a mintmark. Although Proof coins were being struck at the San Francisco Mint at the time, the Philadelphia Mint was responsible for making the Proof dies (and adding the mintmark). Apparently, at least one die was sent from Philadelphia without the mintmark, and a small number of "S"-less Dimes were struck and released before the error was discovered. The 1975 "S"-less Dimes are so rare that they were not even discovered until 1978, when two examples surfaced. They may, in fact, be one of the rarest coins of the 20th century!

1968 Mint Set in Original Government Packaging, 11 Coins Inside!

Lot #2548 (Sale Order 114 of 1822)

1968 Mint Set in Original Government Packaging, 11 Coins Inside!. Original packaging: The new Mint Sets retained the old Pliofilm packaging, but with a twist. To differentiate official Mint Sets from privately made sets, the Mint added color to the edge of the plastic: blue for the Philadelphia and San Francisco coins, and red for the Denver coins (the addition of colored edging was actually proposed in 1964). The five coins from the Denver Mint were placed in one pliofilm package, while the Philadelphia and San Francisco were combined in another. The two pliofilm packs were inserted, along with two plain cards, into a mailing envelope for shipment to customers.

***Auction Highlight*** 1877 Indian Cent 1c Graded f15 details BY SEGS (fc)

Lot #2566 (Sale Order 128 of 1822)

***Auction Highlight*** 1877 Indian Cent 1c Graded f15 details BY SEGS. The Key Date to the whole Indian Cent Series. According to Jaime Hernandez from PCGS, ‘The 1877 Indian Cent is unquestionably the most desirable coin in the entire circulation strike Indian Cent series. It is the second lowest mintage coin in the series, and only the 1909-S Indian cent has a lower mintage. Despite the 1877 Indian cent having the second lowest mintage in the series, it also survives in much smaller numbers than the 1909-S Indian cent. This is mainly due to the lack of coins being collected in 1877 compared to 1909. There is only one reverse die confirmed as striking all existing 1877 Indian cents. However, if there was only one reverse die employed to strike all (877,000)1877 Indian cents, then this lone die should have sustained major planchet flaws when striking such a large mintage. Surprisingly, this is not the case since 1877 cents show no traces of a damaged die. Therefore, it is strongly believed that the mintage of 877,000 coins struck, is actually a highly inflated figure.

Lot #2591 (Sale Order 149 of 1822)

1974 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!. 1974-S Proof Sets are popular because every coin in the set, except for the Cent, was a Proof-only issue. Sales of Proof Sets continued to be strong, but were slightly lower than in the previous year. Each set contained six coins: One example each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Quarter, Kennedy Half Dollar, and Eisenhower Dollar (Copper-Nickel Clad).About the sets: 1974-S Proof Coins are found with Brilliant, Cameo, and Deep Cameo surfaces. All three finishes are readily available.Mintage: 2,612,568 setsThe Proof 40% Silver Clad version of the 1974-S Eisenhower Dollar was NOT included in the 1974-S Proof Set, but was sold separately in a special case and presentation box.Original packaging: The individual coins of the 1974-S Proof Set were sealed in a two-piece, clear plastic case. A black card cover imprinted with silver letters, "United States Proof Set • 1974" protected both the case and the frame.

1990 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!

Lot #2603 (Sale Order 159 of 1822)

1990 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!. Proof Set sales dipped slightly again in 1990, even though the issue price remained at $11.00, making this set a little tougher to find. Each set contained five coins: One example each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime (Copper-Nickel Clad), Washington Quarter (Copper-Nickel Clad), and Kennedy Half Dollar (Copper-Nickel Clad).About the sets: All coins in the 1990-S Proof Set were intended to have a Cameo or Deep Cameo Finish. Some 1990-S Proof Sets contain Cents that lack the “S” mintmark. These are mistakes that were made when the Philadelphia Mint (responsible for producing the dies for the San Francisco Mint) failed to add the mintmark to a Proof obverse die. Approximately 3,500 “S-Less” Cents were produced, with an unknown quantity going into the Prestige Sets of this year.

Actual roll pictured is the roll you will get. A great original bank shotgun roll with very tight ends. From the feedback we have been receiving, people are happy with these rolls, nearly half the roll seems to be teens, all the rolls have a few Indians, most of the rolls have some steel cents, and a lot of the wheaties are mintmarks. These shotgun rolls are all from a new consignee. They are all frrom one Estate. This particular Roll shows a 1909-s on one end and a VDB reverse on the other end.

*Star Note * 1957 $1 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades vf++

Lot #2611 (Sale Order 166 of 1822)

*Star Note * 1957 $1 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades vf++. When notes are discovered that have been printed incorrectly (such as having the serial numbers upside down, etc.) the misprinted "error notes" are replaced with star notes because no two bills within a certain series can be produced with the same serial number. They are used to maintain a correct count of notes in a serial number run. By their nature, star notes are more scarce than notes with standard serial numbers and as such are widely collected by numismatists. Some of the highest prices paid for modern (post-1928) U.S. banknotes have been for star notes. The note itself is a Silver Certificate. Silver Certificates were redeemable in Silver. One of their most distinctive qualities is the blue Treasury seal and serial numbers. These notes include an additional legend printed on the face that is not present on any other Federal Reserve notes. The legend states that Silver had been deposited in the Treasury and was payable on demand to the note’s bearer.

Sealed 2006 United States Mint Set in Original Government Shipped Box, Never Opened! 20 Coins Inside!. The 2006 Mint Set continued the use of the new satin finish that had been introduced for the product in the prior year. This year also marked the “Return to Monticello” for the Jefferson Nickel, which saw its original reverse design restored, paired with a new obverse design from Jamie Franki. Each set would include a total of 20 coins with a face value of $5.82. Satin finish examples from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints were included for the Sacagawea Dollar, Kennedy Half Dollar, Roosevelt Dime, Jefferson Nickel, and Lincoln Cent. Continuing to be a highlight of the annual coin set were the five State Quarters. The 2006 releases honored Nevada, Nebraska, Colorado, North Dakota, and South Dakota, which were the thirty-sixth to fortieth states to join the union. Packaging remained within a similar style with the coins included in four different mylar packs. Two represented coins from the Philadelphia Mint, while the other two represented coins from the Denver Mint. These were placed along with a certificate of authenticity into illustrated outer envelopes, which featured depictions of the Liberty Bell and the mountains of Colorado. Get your hands on this never opened 2006 mint set!

1971 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!! 1971 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!

1971 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!

Lot #2644 (Sale Order 192 of 1822)

1971 United States Proof Set, 5 Coins Inside!!. The 1971-S Proof Set was again a Proof Set collectors dream. Another "S"-less coin was discovered, as well as a few very rare Doubled Die varieties. Each set contained five coins: One example each of the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Kennedy Half Dollar.About the sets: 1971-S Proof Coins are found with Brilliant, Cameo, and Deep Cameo surfaces. None of the new Eisenhower Dollars were included in the 1971-S Proof Sets. However, Proof 40% Silver Clad versions of the 1971-S Eisenhower Dollar were available separately. An estimated 1,655 Proof 1971-S Nickels were struck without a mintmark. Although Proof coins were being struck at the San Francisco Mint at the time, the Philadelphia Mint was responsible for making the Proof dies (and adding the mintmark). Apparently, at least one die was sent from Philadelphia without the mintmark, and a small number of "S"-less Nickels were struck and released before the error was discovered. The mintage figure, provided by the Mint, was apparently based on the estimated output from a single die pair. Because the "S"-less Proof sets are very valuable, be sure to examine the plastic case for signs of tampering and substitution. Do not purchase an individual "S"-less Nickel or complete Proof Set unless it has been authenticated by an expert.
