2006-2008 Zimbabwe 10 Million Dollars (ZWN) Emergency Bearer Check Notes P# 55a Grades vf++ Lot #26 (Sale Order 18 of 510) 2006-2008 Zimbabwe 10 Million Dollars (ZWN) Emergency Bearer Check Notes P# 55a Grades vf++. Hyperinflation in Zimbabwe is an ongoing crisis. While yearly inflation was often measured in the hundreds of percentage points in the early 2000s, from 2007 to 2008 it was measured in the millions, and then trillions. The first Zimbabwean dollar (ZWD) was abandoned in 2005 and replaced with the second (ZWN). The second had to be abandoned again in August 2008, and its replacement currency (ZWR) became obsolete due to ongoing hyperinflation only 6 months later, resulting in a third replacement currency (ZWL). The ZWL was formally demonetised in 2015, and Zimbabwe generally relies on a variety of foreign currencies for local trade.

1961 Russia (Soviet Union) 1 Ruble Note Grades f, fine Lot #119 (Sale Order 82 of 510) 1961 Russia (Soviet Union) 1 Ruble Note Grades f, fine. The "Sixth Soviet Ruble" was issued first in 1961, and the designs for both the non-commemorative coins and paper currency of the Soviet Union almost remained identical from 1961 nearly until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. Briefly before the Soviet Union fell, there was the monetary reform of 1991 and the release of the Seventh Soviet Ruble, with designs that were fairly similar to the 1961 Rubles. Interestingly, the 500 Ruble note only existed for 2 days before the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the 1000 Soviet Ruble note only came into existence 3 months after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Some Soviet banknotes were printed and remained in use in various ex-Soviet states in 1992-1993, still utilizing the 1991 Soviet designs.

1922 Germany Third Issue 100 Marks Banknote - Post-WWI Hyperinflation Currency P# 75 Grades xf+ Lot #160 (Sale Order 115 of 510) 1922 Germany Third Issue 100 Marks Banknote - Post-WWI Hyperinflation Currency P# 75 Grades xf+. In the early 1920s, post-WWI Germany saw its economy spiraling out of control. Hyperinflation started directly after the war in 1918, but truly took over the Weimar Republic from 1921 to 1923. The value of the Mark declined incredibly rapidly. 1 USD was equal to 50 German Marks at the beginning of 1920. Toward the end of 1923, 1 USD was equal to over 4,200,000,000,000 German Marks. At times, denominations of the Mark became less valuable than the paper and labor to print it almost immediately after printing. Thus, denominations of the Mark notes became incredibly large, ending up in the tens of trillions.

The five coins from the Denver Mint were placed in one pliofilm package, while the Philadelphia and San Francisco were combined in another. 1899 $2 Large Size Silver Certificate "Mini-Portholes" Teehee-Burke Fr-256 Grades vf, very fine Lot #214 (Sale Order 153 of 510) 1899 $2 Large Size Silver Certificate "Mini-Portholes" Teehee-Burke Fr-256 Grades vf, very fine. The Series 1899 $2 Silver Certificate is notable not only for being the last $2 silver certificate series printed, but also because it is the only $2 bill to feature a portrait of George Washington instead of the more common Thomas Jefferson image. Because Washington’s portrait on the bill’s face is small and surrounded by an oval frame resembling a ship’s porthole, collectors have named it the “Mini-Porthole” bill.

This is the first “small size” two dollar bill issued by The U.S. In 1928 the size of paper money was changed to the size that we are familiar with today. There are eight different types of 1928 $2 bills. They are Series of 1928, Series of 1928A, 1928B, 1928C, 1928D, 1928E, 1928F, and 1928G. Series of 1928D $2 bills were printed in the later period between January 1934 and July 1944. These dates coincide with when Henry Morgenthau Jr. and WA Julian were in office together. Like all red seal two dollar legal tender notes, the series of 1928D $2 notes features Thomas Jefferson on the front and Monticello on the back.

Original Sealed 1963 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard Lot #246 (Sale Order 179 of 510) Original Sealed 1963 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard. Original sealed 1963 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard. Original sealed 1963 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard. Once in a lifetime collection We are proud to bring to auction the greatest proof collection of the late 1950s and early 1960s. This collection may contain some of the only unopened mega boxes of unopened proof sets still in existence. In all my years in numismatics I have never seen a collection like this one. Finding cameo and deep cameo proofs from this era is near impossible u less you pay full retail and buy them already holdered. All of the sets at coin shows have been examined and have virtually no cameos. The only way to get the same odds of finding one of these valuable cameos is to buy an unopened set. Many sets today that are purported to be unopened have a actually been opened and resealed or put into a fresh envelope and sealed. This 100% original lot is guaranteed to be unopened from the day it left the mint. We will cover your laboratory costs and pay you 10x your cost of the set if the carbon dating on this set shows that the glue is not from the late 1950s 1960s. A true once in a lifetime opportunity

1923 Fifth Issue Germany 10 Million Mark Post-WWI Hyperinflation Banknote P# 106a, Watermark: G/D in Lot #324 (Sale Order 235 of 510) 1923 Fifth Issue Germany 10 Million Mark Post-WWI Hyperinflation Banknote P# 106a, Watermark: G/D in stars Grades Choice AU/BU Slider.

1922 Germany "Vampire" 10,000 Marks Post-WWI Hyperinflation Banknote P# 71 Grades Choice AU/BU Slide Lot #348 (Sale Order 252 of 510) 1922 Germany "Vampire" 10,000 Marks Post-WWI Hyperinflation Banknote P# 71 Grades Choice AU/BU Slider. Among the many bills issued during the hyperinflation crisis in the post-WWI German Weimar Republic, the "Vampire Note" is a particular standout. It is known as the Vampire Note because when the note's engraver (identity unknown) adapted a portrait by famous German Renaissance painter Albrecht Durer for the note, he made an odd alteration where the neck of the figure looks like a Vampire when the bill is rotated 90 degrees. It takes some imagination to see, but was intentional and meant to represent the anti-French sentiment in WWI Germany -- France was considered to be "sucking the life out of" the country following the signing of the Treaty of Versailles. The Reichsbank noticed this alteration, but did not change it, printing several varieties of the bill with the design and giving credence to the popular anti-French sentiment. There are three varieties, Pick # 70 and 71 differing in the reverse design, and Pick # 72 being a smaller version of Pick # 71.

1992-1994 200 Rubles Soviet Russia / Transnistrian Banknote, Stamped Grades Choice AU/BU Slider Lot #391 (Sale Order 280 of 510) 1992-1994 200 Rubles Soviet Russia / Transnistrian Banknote, Stamped Grades Choice AU/BU Slider. After being formed in 1990, but before issuing its own Rubles in 1994, the internationally unrecognized state of Transnistria (Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic) continued to use Soviet Rubles. As the Soviet Ruble was replaced in all other ex-Soviet states by local currency, Transnistria was flooded with currency. To avoid a hyperinflation event and financial catastrophe, the Transnistrian government bought used Goznak-printed Soviet and Russian notes dated 1961–1992 and modified these notes by applying adhesive stamps bearing the image of General Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov, founder of Tiraspol, and the notes' corresponding denomination. Currently, Transnistria is a polity with no credible international recognition and its territory is formally part of Moldova, so its currency has no ISO 4217 code, and thus Transnistria cannot participate in any card payment processing network. Transnistria is often considered "the last bastion of the Soviet Union".

1953A $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades Select AU Lot #419 (Sale Order 303 of 510) 1953A $5 Blue Seal Silver Certificate Grades Select AU. The year 1953 was the last year that the US printed the five dollar silver certificates. These bills were printed in three different years, so there were three different series: 1953, 1953A, and 1953B,. The 1953 $5 silver certificate looks very similar to the earlier 1934 issues except that the “5” on the left hand side of the note is in blue, and the seal on the right hand side is smaller. Once redeemable for silver coin or bullion, these notes and the redemption option were discontinued by Act of Congress in 1963. Silver Certificates, with their distinctive blue Treasury seals and serial numbers, are among the most sought-after U.S. currency notes. This Series 1953A $5 Silver Certificate bears Priest-Anderson signatures.

Military payment certificates, or MPC, were a form of currency used to pay U.S. military personnel in certain foreign countries. They were used in one area or another from a few months after the end of World War II until a few months after the end of U.S. participation in the Vietnam War – from 1946 until 1973. MPC utilized layers of line lithography to create colorful banknotes that could be produced cheaply. Fifteen series of MPCs were created. However, only 13 series were issued. The remaining two were largely destroyed, although some examples remain. Among the 13 released series a total of 94 notes are recognized.

1945 Japan Allied Military Currency 1 "B" Yen Note P# 67a Grades vf+ Lot #614 (Sale Order 447 of 510) 1945 Japan Allied Military Currency 1 "B" Yen Note P# 67a Grades vf+. B yen was a colloquial term used to refer to a form of military scrip used in post-war US-Occupied Okinawa from 1946 to 1948. Officially, it was called B type military scrip. The B yen bills were of a blue or green color, and came in eight different denominations. Though the rest of Occupied Japan continued to use regular Japanese yen throughout occupation, military scrip was introduced in Okinawa because, even at that time, the US military government intended to continue occupation of Okinawa long after ending it in the Home Islands. Steps were taken to prevent inflation which would have resulted from the illegal influx of regular yen from the Home Islands. Once the economy in Okinawa was considered stable enough, the B yen was done away with, and the US dollar brought into use.

1991 Russia (Soviet Union) 100 Ruble Note Grades vf++ Lot #727 (Sale Order 498 of 510) 1991 Russia (Soviet Union) 100 Ruble Note Grades vf++.

1963B $1 'Barr Note' Federal Reserve Note Grades vf+ Lot #732 (Sale Order 500 of 510) 1963B $1 'Barr Note' Federal Reserve Note Grades vf+. Among the most sought-after U.S. paper money of the late 1960's are the short-lived "Barr" Notes. These distinctive $1 Federal Reserve Notes bear the signature of Joseph W. Barr, who served as Secretary of the Treasury during the last 28 days of President Lyndon B. Johnson's administration. Barr was replaced when President Nixon chose a successor. Due to Barr's short term, his signature appeared only on the $1 notes of Series 1963B.
