Three (3) Japanese Swords

Three (3) Japanese Swords. One is a Calvary Trooper's Sword. Wooden grip with diamond pattern. Circa: after 1886. Blade shows many spots of dark tarnish and use nicks on the edge. Grip and guard are solid but discolored. 35 1/2" total length. Serial No. 74392. Scabbard is rusty but solid. Second Sword looks to be a Type 8 company grade Officer's "Kyu-gunto" parade sword. Guard and grip wrap are heavily damaged. Sword will not come out of sheath due to bend at the end. Sheath is rusty and pitted. 33 1/2" total length. Third is a NCO "Shin-gunto", wood handled variation of #1 which has an unfinished wood handle with diamond pattern and no clear wood preservative. Serial Number 209918. Overall length is 37 3/8". Sword is solid but has heavy tarnish on both sides. Metal sheath has no serial number. Solit but rusty. Tip has very small curl and rust.

These were Fabrique National (Belgium) manufactured earlier 7mm rifles, refitted for caliber 30-06 in 1952, marked "R. FAMAGE" which refers to refitted military arms in Columbia. This rifle is unusual because it has a parade hook at front retainer and the Columbian crest has been ground off. Excellent example of the Mauser K98 type, in an American caliber. SN-F02258U-311
