19th Century Ivory Handled Walking Cane Lot #457 (Sale Order 457 of 459) "The 37"" ebonized cane with finely carved ivory handle in the form of a head and shoulders of a period gentleman, with an engraved silver collar. Rubber over copper tip. Of English origin, likely to have been the property of a Victorian gentleman. The handle may well be carved in the image of an important politician, William Ewart Gladstone, Liberal Prime Minister of England on four occasions; from 1868 to 1874, 1880 to 1885, 1886 and 1892.
