About 15,000 such conversions were made in January and February 1945, by FNA Brescia (under German control) and Heinrich Krieghoff. The process involved drilling out the barrel to 8mm, replacing the magazine follower with a solid wooden loading block (the Carcano clip was not compatible with 8mm Mauser cartridges), and replacing the front sight to set the new zero at 200m. Rear sights were marked “7.9” for the new caliber. No other markings observed on this rifle |||| CONDITION: Good. 80% blue finish. Wood stock is solid with heavy battle patina and wear. Russian Navy M1870 Galand 12mm Revolver Lot #72l (Sale Order 133 of 384) 5” Octagonal Barrel | Charles-François Galand (1832–1900) was a French gunsmith who worked in Liège, Belgium, and Paris, France. He manufactured many revolvers for civilian and military use, including this Galand Revolver. It used the 11.6 x 14.5 R Galand Russian Navy cartridge (12mm or 4½ line caliber). Galand managed to secure a contract providing the revolvers for the Russian Navy in 1870, and this appears to be one of them. What’s unique about this one is what it says on the left side of the barrel. This pistol shows wear and has been refinished so it is hard to make out what it says but haven’t seen another example like this, so do your research! These revolvers were truly ahead of their time in the design on how they extract cartridges. Very neat and every collector should own one of these! |||| Condition: Good/refinished. 85% old, gloss reblued finish with some finish loss spotting. Faux ivory grips are solid with purposeful wear. Revolver seems to function, but not perfectly and sometimes you have to manually reset the trigger and/or squeeze it harder than intended. Otherwise, for the age of this revolver, it's not in bad shape, but it has definitely seen better days.

RARE Set of Matching 1853 Mexican-American War M1842 Dragoon Horse Pistols with Pommel Holster Lot #72m (Sale Order 134 of 384) These 1853-dated U.S. Model 1842 Dragoon pistols were made by Ira N. Johnson in Middletown, Connecticut. They feature an .54 Caliber 8.5” smoothbore barrel, both martially marked with "US/JCB/P," the inspection mark of Joseph C. Bragg, known for inspecting Colt Dragoons. Below the mark is "Steel" | Accompanied by a leather pommel holster that has become 2 separate holsters over the year and are no longer connected in the middle. This whole setup is just an amazing display of history! The Model 1842, the first official U.S. percussion pistol, replaced the flintlocks of the First and Second Dragoon Regiments, and saw use during pivotal periods like the Mexican-American War all the way up into the Civil War. These single-shot, .54 caliber pistols were among 10,000 delivered between 1853 and 1855. |||| CONDITION: Both of these pistols are in very good shape with perfectly working mechanicals with both operating at full and half cock. Markings on the metal are crisp and legible. For these pistols to be right under 200 years old they look amazing, and would be a prize runner to most pre civil war collections. The very early pommel holster has seen better days but is still holding up to the test of time. It is mostly hardened with some loose/crispy flaps. Both still retain their cartridge holders on the front, and are no longer connected by the leather bridge flap in the middle. Absolutely wonderful pair of pistols here!
