Lot of two. These Mexican Dragoon Helmets were most likely used in the 1960 John Wayne movie the Alamo as these came from the estate of Joe Musso, who worked on the film, and was a personal friend of John Wayne, but we have no documentation to say for sure. The first is a Mexican Dragoon Officer helmet. Gray in color, high crest with lined with black felt, brass scaled chin strap, Mexican eagle, snake, plate, padded liner. Comes with photo of documented uniform screen used in the Alamo movie, the helmet is an exact match. The second is a enlisted helmet, black leather covered, high curved crest, leather chinstrap, gold toned Mexican eagle and snake. Both in very good condition.

Matching serial numbers are found on grip, butt, cylinder. Revolver retains approximately 95% original bluing. Action is crisp/tight, bore is fair with some small areas of light pitting. French Artillery Shako Early 19th Century

"Stove Pipe" Shako. Cardboard barrel covered with black cloth, 10" height. bordered at the top with a scarlet cloth, with a black waxed leather crown and neck cover at the back trimmed in red and a French tricolor cockade on the front. 2 1/4" in diameter, with a half-bell button in brass at its center, 3" stamped, grooved brass plate from button to crown. Below the roundel are fixed two crossed brass cannons surmounting a flaming bomb. Half moon visor in black leather. Red Pompom in slot. Black leather sweatband under cloth lining. Brass scaled chinstrap with Fleur De Lis bosses. Most of the nap gone, with some staining, the is a 1 1/4" V-shaped piece missing from the middle of the visor. the red band has is fade with discoloration, miss a 3" piece to the left of the Pompom. Overall sound, not to bad for it's age. From the Joe Musso Collection.

'Type 3' Re-finished, re-barreled vintage semiautomatic pistol manufactured circa 1922. Features checkered black hard rubber grips with embossed Colt banners and Rampant Colt logos, re-barreled with a 4" threaded barrel, fixed sights, manual safety, grip safety, heel magazine release. Bore is excellent/bright. Parkerized re-finish is excellent. Standard Colt markings are overall readable, showing some erosion, partial loss to front legs of Rampant Colt logo. Marked "U.S. PROPERTY" on right side of frame, in crisp sharp letters. Grips are very good condition with smoothing of embossed features. Includes the original Colt factory barrel, parkerized to match, fair condition pitted bore. No magazine. Comes in a nice dark stained wood form fitted green lined display case with spaces for pistol, mags & accessories, two 25 rd cartridge organizers, 50 rounds PPU hollow point ammo. Also comes with a Colt factory letter, shipped to Edwards & Walker Company of Portland Maine on Feb 16, 1922 as part of a three gun shipment. Condition is near NRA Excellent as Restored. This is an plate for the officer's full dress lance cap. The rayed gilt brass plate centers the Hanoverian Coat-of-Arms over the Regimental motto of the 17th Lancers. The motto on this pattern is flanked by sprays of laurel and oak leaves. The "totenkopf" of Frederick the Great is approximately 1 inch wide and 1 1/2 inches tall over the crossed bones and banner bearing the phrase "OR GLORY". Very Good condition.

R.H. Ruana Knife & Sheath

Rare R.H. Ruana first knife stamped "M" circa 1962-1983. The knife features a hardened steel blade with an aluminum handle and Elk horn grips. The handle is marked "R.H. Ruana Bonner Montana M". Rudy Ruana began making knives in Bonner, Montana back in the 1950's and are still being made today by Rudy's family. The Ruana knife is in good overall condition. It measures 6 1/4" long with a 3 1/2" blade. The leather sheath shows custom craftsmanship with Ruana stamped on the sheath and a stag head with two cross knives below. Very good condition.

Thumb up the catch, "break" the gun open, swing the frame down and the shell-extractor glides out from the cylinder, retracting again when the gun is fully open. All actions work, but it will not fire real ammo. Length 13.5", weight 2.5 lbs. Comes with display frame with black velvet backing, brass plaque reads "The Wyatt Earp .44 Revolver by The Franklin Mint". Measures 18"x12". Great display piece!

French Me 1860 Infantry Shako

This is a newer made copy of the French Model 1860 Infantry shako. Made to exact specifications. Very well made., It has the brass imperial eagle/crown plate clutching lighting bolts, oval has "Regiment Etranger", French Tri Color cockade, and red pompom with brass "3" attached. The strange thing is the 3rd R.E.I, 3rd Foreign Infantry Regiment of the Foreign Legion was founded in 1915. It has a white cloth neck/sun protector attached. The stamped brass plate is very well made, not put together. Possibly made for display, or parade purposes. Small size. We could not find any reference to this shako. It is vintage with some age to it. Very Interesting piece. Very Good condition. Comes on a ornate wood/brass stand/

French Foreign Legion Kepi Lot

Three Total. 1) Officers dark blue wool band measuring approximately 4" high with a blue wool crown with quatrefoil and gold toned piping. An upright, embroidered wire flaming grenade is to the front. A gold leather chinstrap is held in place by a pair of plain brass buttons. The interior is lined in black cloth. . Late 1930's or early 1940's model. Excellent. 2) Same as above, but this is the iconic plain white kepi. FL side buttons, white lining. Excellent. 3) Officers Kepi, blue felt, red crown, with gold trimmings. Embroidered gold flaming bomb. Around the upper part of the kepi are four bands of gold piping, denoting the rank of Chef de Batallion (Major), quatrefoil design to the crown. Missing chinstrap, & side buttons. Size 56.5. Two Items. 1) Rare British Pattern 1851 Minie Socket bayonet made for the Pattern 1851 Minie rifled musket. Very similar to the earlier Pattern 1842 socket bayonet used on the P1842 smoothbore rifle except for a two significant and measurable changes in dimensions. Very faint makers mark, Crown over 31, B. X on blade, 6 on socket. 17" blade. No scabbard. 2) French Briquet short sword. This short saber was introduced in 1767. It was instantly derided for its modest dimensions and nicknamed “Briquet” (”fire lighter”) and the name stuck and became official in 1806. No visible markings, 20 1/2" blade, brass, ribbed, D guard hilt. blade is covered with light scattered pitting, a little loose in the hilt.

Original Veterans medal as issued. The 3rd Wisconsin assembled at Camp Hamilton, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and mustered into Federal service on June 19, 1861. The 3rd Wisconsin Infantry was a part of Gen. Nathaniel Banks' army during Jackson's Shenandoah Valley campaign of 1862. Later in the year, the 3rd Wisconsin took part in the fighting around the Cornfield during the Battle of Antietam. In 1863, after the Battle of Gettysburg, the 3rd was sent to New York, to help control the New York City draft riots. Medal is maker marked. From the Joe Musso Collection.

Actor and American icon, John Wayne, was a member of Al Malaikah Shriners in Los Angeles, California and wore an Ambassator-at-Large red fez hat when he appeared in the motion picture "Circus World" similar to this one from the Estate Collection of Joseph Musso. This fez is crafted of maroon felt with a black tassel and elaborate adornment spelling out "Al Malaikah / Ambassador" around the Shriner's moon-and-saber logo, with an iron patch stating "L.A.F.S.Co. Los Angeles Fraternal Supply Co., Inc. - This Fez Belongs to Rudy Balzer" on the insides of the hat band, measures approximately 6" high. Al Malaikah is the name of the Shrine Center in Los Angeles where John Wayne was awarded a fez similar to this one in 1970. Fez is in very good condition. Minimal wear. Comes with hat case.

This Movie Prop Mexican Army Infantry Rifleman's Uniform was used in the 1960 John Wayne movie the Alamo as these came form the estate of Joe Musso, who worked on the film, and was a personal friend of John Wayne. Tunic stamped in sleeve "W.C.C." Trousers marked "Western Costume Co. Hollywood Ca.", who supplied the uniforms. Blue wool tunic with red collar/cuffs, nine domed, brass buttons. Trousers are dark blue wool with red stripes. White leather cross strap with Mexican Eagle/Snake brass plate, holding a French style short sword, and bayonet. Very good Condition.

Action is smooth/tight. Open fixed sights, with sighting groove on the top of frame. Serrated trigger. Metal finish is about 60%, with scratches/dings, handling wear on the fore strap, and holster wear to the barrel, and drag lines on the cylinder. Grips are very good overall, two notches cut into the left panel, and "PB" lightly scratched on the bottom. Bore and cylinder chambers appear good. NOTE* There is a budge in the barrel about 1 1/2" below the muzzle with corresponding dark ring in the bore.. Comes in a brown leather snap holster. NRS Condition-Fair-Needs Repair. C&R Firearm

Civil War U.S. M1860 Light Cavalry Saber

Lot #1346 (Sale Order 173 of 612)

A Model M-1860 cavalry saber manufactured by the Mansfield & Lamb Company out of Forestdale, RI in 1865. The sword has a 35", curved, fullered blade that features the makers mark on the ricasso and "U.S., 1865", and inspector C.E.W. (Charles E. Wilson, 1846-1865)in on the reverse. The guard is cast in brass, no leather washer. The hilt is wrapped in soft leather, wire wrapping intact. The underside of the guard, and the top of the pommel are both stamped "28 B'. Overall very good condition, no nicks to the blade, nice patina to the brass.
