American Empire Mahogany Secretary Desk

Desk features 2 glass front upper doors above desk part with lift out lid which opens to reveal 4 drawers with brass pulls, slanted writing surface having two lift open lids to area containing cubbies and area for storage. The storage area retains its original period wallpaper. The upper case has 3 adjustable wooden shelves, lower case has desk and 2 hand dovetailed drawers. Lower case is flanked with rectangular columns ending onto a large spade foot, back feet are turned. Circa 1840, secretary is found in reasonably good condition for its age having a few areas of minor veneer loss and replaced glass in upper doors. 2 pieces. Measures 86" T X 42" W X 23" D.
