THE FOLLOWING COLLECTION OF 12 WINCHESTERS ARE FROM THE ESTATE OF THE LATE WALKER WEATHERS FORMERLY OF TYLER, TEXAS. Winchester 1895 Rifle, SN 46281 in famous .405 caliber, Mfg. in 1904. Manufactured in the first year the 1895 was chambered in the .405 caliber, famously used by Teddy Roosevelt on his Africa Expedition of 1909. This rifle has the early tang markings, “-WINCHESTER MODEL 1895-“ and retains a pleasing 60-70% of factory original blue finish showing signs of honest wear but not abuse. Case colors still visible on hammer and trigger housing. Solid action, bore has strong lands and grooves, but is dark with pitting throughout. Wood stocks are solid and proud to the metal with original varnish present and wearing throughout from honest use. Ebony piece forearm. Will be sold with Winchester Factory Letter confirming date of manufacture as July 19, 1904, Rifle, caliber .405 with X Grade Stock. Shipped from warehouse on August 31, 1904. Stocks proud around the metal, however the top forearm has a split running the entire length of the forearm. The stock is not loose, but is split, this was a common problem with the thin top forearm woods of the 1895 SRC’s. Bore is dark with pitting but retains strong lands and grooves. The factory original barrel has indications of being cutdown as it shows a flat barrel crown with replacement front sight and a measured barrel length of approximately 22 3/4". Original Winchester rear buckhorn sights are present. Wood stocks are solid and proud to the receiver with areas of dents and impressions showing decades of use. Winchester 1895 Rifle, SN 235011, 7.62 mm Russian caliber. This rifle was originally a Russian Cont Lot #48 (Sale Order 49 of 338) Winchester 1895 Rifle, SN 235011, 7.62 mm Russian caliber. This rifle was originally a Russian Contract Musket; cutdown to a 23 1/2" barrel, forearm stock has been sanded into a sporterized style. Receiver has pitting in the metal and has been refinished. Original clip guide on the frame has been removed revealing the cut dovetail on each side of the receiver. Wood stocks show significant wear and the rear buttstock has a slot cut into the underside of the stock. Bore has good land and grooves, but dark and pitted. Rifle is in usable condition with tight action chambered in a rare caliber for the 1895 rifle. We believe that the rear sight on this rifle is not original. Stock has a notch in the wood. (MODERN)

Beautiful finish and condition with 20" full bodied winged griffins supporting 60" carved oval top with hide-a-way drawer in skirt and full stretcher base. Table measures 30" T x 36" W x 60" L. R. J. Horner was established in 1886 in lower Manhattan. R.J. Horner furniture was popular for its sophisticated style and construction. He used the finest quality material, most of his pieces are crafted from oak and mahogany in intricately carved detail with the popular motifs of winged griffins, maidens and other ornate imagery. In 1915 he merged with George C Flint, another well-known furniture maker.

Rare early iron Cavalry Bit with brass plates on each side of cheek piece with raised initials U.S. Lot #251 (Sale Order 261 of 338) Rare early iron Cavalry Bit with brass plates on each side of cheek piece with raised initials U.S. and stamped "9th Cav. Ft. McKavett, Home of the Buffalo Soldiers." Bit has two curb chains and is in untouched condition. The Fort McKavett State Historic Site is a former United States Army installation located in Menard County, Texas. The fort was first established in 1852 as part of a line of forts in Texas intended to protect migrants traveling to California. The fort was deemed unnecessary and abandoned in 1859 and was occupied by settlers. From 1861-1863, during the American Civil War, the fort became an outpost of Confederate forces on the Texas frontier until they left for other theaters of the war. When the US Army returned to Texas in the later 1860s, the fort was reoccupied and rebuilt, and became a base for the "Buffalo Soldier", or all-African American, 24th Infantry and 9th Cavalry Regiments.

Cased, antique, pair of engraved C.H. Ballard Derringers, manufactured circa 1870, in quantities est Lot #311A (Sale Order 324 of 338) Cased, antique, pair of engraved C.H. Ballard Derringers, manufactured circa 1870, in quantities estimated at a few thousand, these are single shot, .41 caliber, consecutive SN 2473 & 2474 with part round and part octagon 3" barrels. They are engraved in nearly identical patterns and retain traces of nickel finish on the brass frames. The top of the barrels are marked "Ballard's" but the patent markings on the sides of the barrels are unreadable from wear and minor corrosion. The actions are functional and the bores are dark and rough. The antique ivory grips fit well in each Derringer. These 2 Derringers come in a period style case with felt lining, 12 rounds of .41 rimfire, a compartment with lid containing a key, cleaning brush, patches and cleaning cloth inside.
