Lot #16 (Sale Order 14 of 3243)

***Auction Highlight*** Original sealed 1962 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard. Once in a lifetime collection We are proud to bring to auction the greatest proof collection of the late 1950s and early 1960s. This collection may contain some of the only unopened mega boxes of unopened proof sets still in existence. In all my years in numismatics I have never seen a collection like this one. Finding cameo and deep cameo proofs from this era is near impossible u less you pay full retail and buy them already holdered. All of the sets at coin shows have been examined and have virtually no cameos. The only way to get the same odds of finding one of these valuable cameos is to buy an unopened set. Many sets today that are purported to be unopened have a actually been opened and resealed or put into a fresh envelope and sealed. This 100% original lot is guaranteed to be unopened from the day it left the mint. We will cover your laboratory costs and pay you 10x your cost of the set if the carbon dating on this set shows that the glue is not from the late 1950s 1960s. A true once in a lifetime opportunity

Denomination Set of 5 1961 Soviet Russian Notes - 1, 3, 5, 10, and 25 Rubles Grades

Lot #19 (Sale Order 17 of 3243)

Denomination Set of 5 1961 Soviet Russian Notes - 1, 3, 5, 10, and 25 Rubles Grades. The "Sixth Soviet Ruble" was issued first in 1961, and the designs for both the non-commemorative coins and paper currency of the Soviet Union almost remained identical from 1961 nearly until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991. Briefly before the Soviet Union fell, there was the monetary reform of 1991 and the release of the Seventh Soviet Ruble, with designs that were fairly similar to the 1961 Rubles. Interestingly, the 500 Ruble note only existed for 2 days before the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the 1000 Soviet Ruble note only came into existence 3 months after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Some Soviet banknotes were printed and remained in use in various ex-Soviet states in 1992-1993, still utilizing the 1991 Soviet designs.

Lot #24 (Sale Order 21 of 3243)

*EXCLUSIVE* x20 Mixed Covered End Roll! Marked "Morgan/Peace Standard"! - Huge Vault Hoard (FC). Up for auction is a (20 coin roll marked “Morgan/Peace Standard” and having two covered ends and weighing 523.8g), one roll amongst the 2700+ roll hoard which after seeing it can only be described as the Long Island Vault Hoard. Inside the vault are hundreds upon hundreds of dollar rolls. Some are 10 coin rolls some are 20, most are hand marked as to what’s inside and most have covered ends. We have opened about 20 of the rolls and have not found any that were mismarked. The vault at one point I believe had the rolls separated into three sections. The markings standard, premium, limited were marked on the sections. Additionally there was a small safe inside the vault marked “Reserve”. But when we first the saw the hoard, the sections were empty as was the small safe. It appeared that at some point the rolls were all put into canvas bank bags, which bags were all lying on the floor of the vault. The agreement with for the Consignee is that we wire on Friday their portion of the funds for any rolls paid that week and on Mondays we will send our runner up to Long Island to retrieve the rolls for shipment that week from our offices as well as photographing the rolls for the next weeks auction. We hope you enjoy these rolls as much as we have bringing them to you.

Lot #48 (Sale Order 35 of 3243)

*EXCLUSIVE* Hand Marked " Morgan Limited," x10 coin Covered End Roll! - Huge Vault Hoard (FC). Up for auction is a (10 coin roll marked “Morgan Limited” and having two covered ends and weighing 267.4g), one roll amongst the 2700+ roll hoard which after seeing it can only be described as the Long Island Vault Hoard.

Lot #53 (Sale Order 39 of 3243)

Lot of 5 Zimbabwe Hyperinflation Notes - Various Denoms Between 20,000 and 10 Billion Dollars! Grades. Hyperinflation in Zimbabwe is an ongoing crisis. While yearly inflation was often measured in the hundreds of percentage points in the early 2000s, from 2007 to 2008 it was measured in the millions, and then trillions. The first Zimbabwean dollar (ZWD) was abandoned in 2005 and replaced with the second (ZWN). The second had to be abandoned again in August 2008, and its replacement currency (ZWR) became obsolete due to ongoing hyperinflation only 6 months later, resulting in a third replacement currency (ZWL). The ZWL was formally demonetised in 2015, and Zimbabwe generally relies on a variety of foreign currencies for local trade.

Group of 5 Early 1900's German Hyperinflation Notes WWI

Lot #93 (Sale Order 61 of 3243)

Group of 5 Early 1900's German Hyperinflation Notes WWI. hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic, economic disaster in the Weimar Republic in 1922–23 that impoverished millions of German citizens.During World War I, prices in Germany had doubled, but that was just the start of the country’s economic troubles. The new German Weimar government was bound by the Treaty of Versailles, which was designed to ensure that the grandees of the now defunct German Empire could never wage war on their neighbours again. The treaty’s terms put the Weimar government under significant financial pressure, such that it was unlikely that the ailing German economy would recover. The huge amount the Germans had to pay the Allies in reparation for the war meant they couldn’t afford to buy imported goods, and the loss of their colonies meant they couldn’t rely on cheap raw materials. At the same time, billions of marks hoarded during the war suddenly came back into circulation. The rising cost of goods combined with a dramatic increase in the money supply created perfect conditions for inflation. Before World War I, the exchange rate was just over four marks to the U.S. dollar. By 1920 the value of the mark was 16 times less. It stabilized at 69 marks to the dollar for some months. The Weimar government was still in a position to get a grip on the economy; instead, it chose to print yet more money in order to pay the reparation debt. By July 1922 prices had risen by some 700 percent, and hyperinflation had arrived. The government had to print million-mark notes, then billion-mark notes. By November 1923 one U.S. dollar was equivalent to 1,000 billion (a trillion) marks. A wheelbarrow full of money couldn’t buy a newspaper. Shopkeepers couldn’t replenish their stock fast enough to keep up with prices, farmers refused to sell their produce for worthless money, food riots broke out, and townspeople marched into the countryside to loot the farms. Law and order broke down. The German attempt at democracy had been completely undermined. Conspiracy theories sprouted, and extremist political views became acceptable. Ultimately, hyperinflation enabled Adolf Hitler to gain power.A new currency, the Rentenmark was introduced in August 1924, backed by the U.S. gold reserve, and realistic reparation payments were agreed to. Although economic mismanagement on the part of the Weimar government is usually blamed for causing hyperinflation, evidence suggests that speculators were also responsible: they started “short selling,” effectively betting on the value of the mark dropping.

*EXCLUSIVE* x20 Morgan Covered End Roll! Marked "Unc Morgan Premium"! - Huge Vault Hoard (FC)

Lot #96 (Sale Order 64 of 3243)

*EXCLUSIVE* x20 Morgan Covered End Roll! Marked "Unc Morgan Premium"! - Huge Vault Hoard (FC). Up for auction is a (20 coin roll marked “Unc Morgan Premium" and having two covered ends and weighing 537.5g), one roll amongst the 2700+ roll hoard which after seeing it can only be described as the Long Island Vault Hoard.

Up for auction is a (10 coin roll marked “Unc Morgan Standard” and having two covered ends and weighing 270.1g), one roll amongst the 2700+ roll hoard which after seeing it can only be described as the Long Island Vault Hoard.

Denomination Set of 5 1961 Soviet Russian Notes - 1, 3, 5, 10, and 25 Rubles

Lot #197 (Sale Order 127 of 3243)

Denomination Set of 5 1961 Soviet Russian Notes - 1, 3, 5, 10, and 25 Rubles.

Up for auction is a (10 coin roll marked “Unc Peace Reserve” and having two covered ends and weighing 270.4g), one roll amongst the 2700+ roll hoard which after seeing it can only be described as the Long Island Vault Hoard. Lot #221 (Sale Order 143 of 3243)

Lot of 5 Japanese WWII Invasion Money "JIM" Notes, Various Countries & Denominations Grades. Japanese invasion money, officially known as Southern Development Bank Notes (Japanese: ??????? Dai T?-A Sens? gunpy?, "Greater East Asia War military scrip"), was currency issued by the Japanese Military Authority as a replacement for local currency after the conquest of colonies and other states in World War II. Japan printed this currency for many countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, North Borneo, Sarawak, Burma, Brunei, and several Oceania territories controlled by Australia. Some Japanese invasion notes are actually counterfeits produced by the American Office of Strategic Services or the British Special Operations Executive, meant to flood and destabilize the economy in the occupied areas, sometimes also including propaganda printed on the notes themselves.

Original sealed 1963 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard

Lot #256 (Sale Order 161 of 3243)

Original sealed 1963 United States Mint Proof Set Tennessee Valley Hoard.

Denomination Set of 5 1961 Soviet Russian Notes - 1, 3, 5, 10, and 25 Rubles

Lot #289 (Sale Order 177 of 3243)

Denomination Set of 5 1961 Soviet Russian Notes - 1, 3, 5, 10, and 25 Rubles.

These coins were produced at the West Point Mint to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Roosevelt dime series. The coins were only sold as part of a special 11 coin mint set which were also released in 1996.
