Manufactured in 1813 with serial number 43957. This serial number falls with a 100 gun range (43901 to 44000) that was sent to the United States Navy, specifically to the USS Texas. The right side of the slide bares the "MODEL OF 1911 U.S.NAVY" roll stamp. Steel blued frame with lanyard loop. The trigger, hammer, thumb safety, and grip safety are fire blued. The left side of the frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". Above the magazine catch is marked with circled "WGP" Walter G. Penfield Major Inspector of Ordnance mark. After marked checkered wood grips, the insides are marked EAGLE GRIPS INDIA. Blued serrated slide with fixed iron sights. The left side of the slide is stamped with "PATENTED APR 20.1897" over "SEPT.9.1902. DEC.19.1905. FEB.14.1911", to the right is marked "COLT'S PT.F.A.MFG.CO." over "HARTFORD.CT.U.S.A". , Rampant Colt stamp on the far right MFR. t. Blued barrel marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on the left side and "P" stamp on the left lug. The bottom of the barrel forward of the link is marked with "S". 1937 Navy US Colt 1911 .45 ACP Pistol 1911A1 Lot #49 (Sale Order 46 of 188) Description Early pre war U.S. Colt transitional period 1911A1 chambered in .45 ACP with one, seven round magazine marked "C-R" and a 5" barrel. This 1911A1 is dated to 1937 with serial number 712013, making it part of the first order after a thirteen year gap from 1925 to 1936. The Ordnance Department ordered 2,349 pistols in total, 1,580 were for the Navy and 769 were for the Army. This pistol was designated to the Navy and was part of a shipment of 250 pistols that were sent to Springfield Armory on September 30, 1937, serial number range 711850-712099. This being a transitional piece has a slide that is stamped "MODEL OF 1911. U.S.ARMY", with a 1911A1 frame with the improved features. Brush blued finish with brown checkered polymer stocks. The frame and slide are serial number matching, with a number on the right side of the frame, and under the firing pin stop on the slide. This practice started at serial 710001. The right side of the frame is also marked "UNITED STATES PROPERTY". "P" Proof mark stamped on the left side of the frame, and about 1/2" forward of the rear sight. The left side of the trigger guard has a "W" proof and "VP" Verified Proof, while the right side of the trigger guard has "80" assemblers proof. "H" Inspection mark and "G" production order stamp on the top of the frame forward of the hammer. The slide features a shallow disconnector recess and tool steel recoil plate. The inside of the slide is stamped with class "C" steel. Oval profile front sight and U-shaped aperture rear sight. The left side of the slide has the Colt two line/two block patent marks with Rampant Colt logo in-between. The left side of the barrel is stamped "COLT 45 AUTO", and has a "P" proof on the left lug. The top of the barrel chamber is bright and unfinished with the rest being blued. Argentina designated this pistols as "Pistola Sistema Colt Modelo Argentino 1916, Calibre .45". Made in China for the US Marines Stationed at the Embassy between (1938-1941) which was around 100 personal. In May 1941 the Marines were withdrawn to the Philippines where they fought the Japanese until they surrendered in May of 1942. Subsequently sent on the Bataan Death March, few of these daggers survived these engagements. Features a dual edge Fuller blade, double quillon cross guard, celluloid covered wood grip with brass wire wrap. Enameled brass pommel cap and grip slats with Chinese Nationalist flag alongside the United States flag. Top of pommel has USMC insignia. Black lacquered wood scabbard with metal enameled accents of a Dragon and USMC Eagle Anchor and Globe. Blade measures 9.75" with a total length outside the scabbard of 14.5". There is an import serial on the rear of the receiver, but the import mark placement is unknown, likely hidden under the stock. The receiver ring also has a Russian refurbish mark. Reblued barrel, seven hole barrel shroud, receiver, plum bolt, trigger group, and metal butt plate. Refinished/Lacquered wood stock and top handguard. Paddle magazine release and trigger guard safety switch with hole. Simplified rear adjustable leaf sight and adjustable front sight post. Front two piece sling swivel and rear sling slot. Matching receiver, bolt handle (scribed number) , Bolt (scribed number), stock, and trigger group (scribed number). The stock and metal parts have many visible and crisp proof/arsenal marks. The firing pin carrier and locking flaps are serial number matching in electro-pencil. Third Reich Eagle stamped on the receiver, barrel, and bolt. And was originally chambered in .45-70 and had a 30" octagonal barrel. On November 14, 1887 the caliber was switched to .40-65. This information is provided by the Cody Firearms Records Office. At some point since, the rifle had its barrel shortened to 26" and was rechambered for 40-82 Winchester. Which is not found in the records. The caliber is stamped on the top of the barrel, and the caliber has been confirmed.**** Antique second year of production Winchester model 1886 chambered in .40-82 Winchester with a full length tubular magazine and a 22" octagonal barrel. Manufactured in 1887 with a four digit serial of 7659. Blued barrel, magazine tube, bolt, and trigger. In the white barrel band, frame, loading gate, hammer, and lever. Adjustable rear sight and fixed front blade. Smooth wood forend and straight stock with blued crescent butt plate. The top of the tang is marked "-MODEL 1886-". The bottom of the grip is marked "-PAT, OCT 14.1884 JAN 20 1885-". Antique ships directly to MOST buyers homes. Known as the first U.S. contract bolt action rifle, the Lieutenant Colonel James Durrell Greene design, which was manufactured by the A. H. Waters armory in Millbury, Mass, was the only underhammer adopted by the U.S. military. This example features a 36" blued barrel and three barrel bands with combination blade and bayonet stud front sight, graduated and folding rear ladder sight, blued bolt with straight handle with push button release mounted on the tang, blued trigger guard, and case hardened hammer and trigger. Comes with a triangle socket bayonet. Antique ships directly to MOST buyers homes. Condition: Antique Good/Very good having been mostly reblued with viable buffing marks and wear under the finish. The finish shows scratches, contact marks, and general handling wear. Varying spots of finish patina/discoloration. Most of the metal stamping are still crisp, but the Eagle marking is faded from being buffed. The stock appears to have been sanded and refinished with the cartouche being still visible but faded. Some light scratches and contact marks on the wood. Metal oxidation on the butt plate. The rear sights screw is marred from improper tool, and the rear ladder sight has a bend to it. The bore is bright and clean with strong visible rifling. The bayonet has heavy metal oxidation and patina.
