Magnificent Sterling Silver Mounted Parade Saddle Ensemble marked "Holtz Saddle Co., Carrolltown, PA Lot #60 (Sale Order 62 of 335) Magnificent Sterling Silver Mounted Parade Saddle Ensemble marked "Holtz Saddle Co., Carrolltown, PA.", circa 1950s-60s, black leather fully tooled with leather padded seat and hand engraved sterling rim around cantle, 14" seat with magnificent 26" monkey face Tapaderos. Complete with full silver mounted breast harness with raised steer head, matching silver mounted head stall and reins. Head stall is mounted with a "Crockett" marked engraved Bit. Saddle is accompanied by its original "Holtz" marked green & white Corona blanket & tooled leather girt strap. This Saddle is literally covered in engraved silver. According to the family of the late Willis Garmin it had been ridden by him in the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, Ca., two times, then sat in the home since then. The Holtz Saddle Company was founded in 1947 in the basement of the Holtz home in Carrolltown, PA. by Bernie W. Holtz. The Saddles that he designed were originals in that no two were designed alike which accounted for the nearly 600 hours it took to complete one saddle. Bernie made 44 silver saddles in his career, including one owned by Richard Boone of "Have Gun will Travel" fame and several for riders in the Pasadena Rose Bowl Parade. Sold with its early iron Saddle Stand that was designed to come in two pieces for easy handling. HORSE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS LOT.
