The Plymouth Superbird is one of the most iconic and sought-after muscle cars ever built - an unmistakable symbol of NASCAR dominance and Mopar engineering. Introduced for the 1970 model year, it was created specifically to conquer high-speed oval tracks and to homologate the radical aerodynamic design for NASCAR competition.
With its signature pointed nose cone and massive rear wing, the Superbird was built for high-speed stability and downforce, making it a standout on both the road and the racetrack.

That rear is no ordinary setup: it’s a Mosier-built housing made from ¼” steel, packed with heavy-duty Mosier axles and 3.55 gears for maximum strength and reliability. This setup delivers massive power and torque, making it as fast as it looks.
Supporting hardware includes an MSD Boost Timing Master, MSD ignition system, and a full suite of performance gauges: Sunpro temperature, voltage, and oil, plus Autometer RPM, fuel, and boost gauges - so you’re always dialed in.
Adding to the slick functionality are electric pop-up headlights, giving the classic front end a smooth and seamless operation – modern convenience with vintage style.

1940 WILLYS GASSER ORANGE PLUS | Offered at No Reserve Lot #66 (Sale Order 66 of 101) This custom 1940 Willys coupe, famously known in vintage drag racing circles as the “Orange Plus,” is a true Southern California gasser that made its debut at the iconic Lions Drag Strip in 1967. It posted a best time of 9.42 seconds at 144 mph before changing hands in 1975. Since then, it’s been brought back to its racing glory with tasteful, modern enhancements.
Featured in Traditional Rod & Culture magazine and various automotive websites, the car’s story begins in Sacramento in 1964, when Dave McDannel discovered it and traded a 1953 Plymouth coupe to make it his. He hauled it back to Pasadena, where he disassembled and rebuilt it as a gasser. The transformation included a Kellison fiberglass front end, an injected Chevy 396 V8 (later swapped for a destroked 327), and an Olds Hydramatic transmission, which was eventually replaced by a Muncie 4-speed. McDannel raced the Willys at tracks throughout California — including Riverside, Orange County, Irwindale, Fontana, and Bakersfield — from 1967 to 1975.
The car passed through multiple owners and disappeared from the public eye between 1991 and 2009 while housed in a private museum in Gilroy, California.
Today, the Willys is powered by a destroked Chevrolet 327 V8, now displacing 302 cubic inches. The engine features ported heads, and breathes through a Dominator Holley carb atop an Edelbrock intake. Power is delivered through a Muncie 4-speed manual transmission to a Positraction rear end, riding on Hoosier Quick Time Pro slicks.
Additional highlights include a fiberglass hood and doors, MSD ignition, and a Probandit shifter - all adding to its authentic gasser character.
Genuine steel-bodied Willys gassers with real racing history rarely hit the market, making this one a rare and exciting find for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

1968 PORSCHE 911SR Lot #72 (Sale Order 72 of 101) Chassis No. 11800988
Period-Correct 911 R-Specification Twin-Plug Engine | Extensive Period Racing History | Provenance with Canadian Endurance Racing Icons
In the wake of the FIA's reclassification of the 911 R as a Group 6 Prototype in late 1967, Porsche revised its homologation strategy for GT-class racing. For the 1968 season, the 911 T and 911 S models were newly authorized to share a common engine range. To support this effort, Porsche released the Sports Purpose Handbook, a 60-page catalogue of FIA-approved performance components available for installation at the factory or through authorized dealers. This initiative opened the door to a new generation of competition-spec customer cars—each tailored to the ambitions of serious privateer racers.
Chassis 11800988 is a rare surviving example of these early "sports purpose" 911s, meticulously documented and highly competitive in period. Delivered new to Montreal-based racing enthusiast Claude Humbert on 7 June 1968 via Auto Hamer Porsche, the car was finished in Ossi Blue over black leatherette and specified with a suite of competition-focused options: single Recaro sport seat, dual harnesses, limited-slip differential, front stabilizer bar, long-range fuel tank, five-speed transmission with removable second gear cluster, Talbot mirror, and Dunlop tires.
Though absent from its factory Kardex, period photos and Humbert’s personal documentation confirm the presence of additional competition upgrades drawn directly from the Sports Purpose Handbook—most notably lightweight options 9541 and 9542, which removed soundproofing and undercoating. The car's original warranty booklet even records the factory's disclaimer regarding the voided warranty due to the deleted undercoating—clear evidence that at least one of these options was factory-applied.
Between 1968 and 1970, Humbert campaigned the car in an extensive regimen of Canadian endurance events, accruing more than 35,000 race miles. His most notable result came on 14 September 1969 at the CASC Quebec Regional Molson Trois-Rivières Grand Prix, where he placed third behind local legends Jacques Duval and Jacques Bienvenue—who would go on to purchase the car in June 1971.
Bienvenue, a major figure in Canadian endurance racing, was a fixture in international competition with Porsche-powered teams including Brumos and Heimrath Racing. He continued campaigning 11800988 in GT-2 events with remarkable success, including victories at the Mayor’s Cup in 1973 and 1977 at Mont-Tremblant. In 1977, he claimed both the FASQ Regional D-Production Championship and the CASC National GT-2 Championship behind the wheel of this very car.
Following nearly a decade of competition, Bienvenue sold the car in 1981 to fellow racer André Thibault. In 1989, it passed to Jacques Rivard, who commissioned a comprehensive restoration to its “as-raced” specification, with guidance from original owner Claude Humbert. The restoration included the installation of a period-correct magnesium-case Type 901/02 “twin plug” engine, upgraded to 911 R specifications, and a faithful return to Bienvenue’s 1977 championship livery. Historic images confirm key original elements, including magnesium Minilite wheels and the interior roll cage with harness bar.
Following its restoration, the car passed through the hands of several respected collectors and vintage racers before its acquisition by the current Los Angeles-based consignor in 2007. Under their stewardship, it has received expert mechanical care from marque specialist Callas Rennsport of Torrance, California. In early 2020, the engine was fully rebuilt, with continued servicing ensuring consistent performance. Since its mechanical restoration, the car has seen only limited road use.
Today, this remarkable 911 S is presented in its authentic "as-raced" configuration—highlighting a pedigree that includes two of Canada’s most storied endurance racers and a championship-winning career. It represents a rare opportunity to acquire a well-documented, competition-prepared early 911 with true period provenance and eligibility for leading historic motorsport events.
Please go to the documents tab to view relevant paperwork.
It will soon be featured in the May 2025 issue of the official magazine of the Porsche Club of America, Panorama.
