1906 Water Cooled Motor Lot #15 (Sale Order 16 of 304) This is a 1 cylinder, water cooled motor that was built by Mr. Robert Penman (1868-1961) in 1906. Mr. Penman's family states that he worked with Henry Ford during this time period. It stands 15" high x 8" wide and 9" long. The motor is gas operated and spins smoothly with compression. We have not tried to crank it. It was used to power the next two lots in the Auction. It is truly an incredible piece of craftsmanship and one of a kind. The photos do not do it justice. Incredible 1906 Model Thrashing Machine Lot #16 (Sale Order 17 of 304) This is a minature model thrashing machine built by Mr. Robert Penman (1868-1961) in 1906. He had applied for a patent on this piece in 1906 with Marion & Marion Engineers & Patent Attornys of Canada. It is an incredible example of craftsmanship from this time period. It measures 11" high x 22" long and 8" wide. It turns smoothly and appears to be in working order. There is extreme detail that photos just don't do justice. It evens has two wooden wheel prototypes. Patent Model 1906 Saw Mill Lot #17 (Sale Order 18 of 304) This is a minature model sawing apperatice built by Mr. Robert Penman (1868-1961). He had a patent on this piece with Marion & Marion Engineers & Patent Attorneys Feb. 27, 1906 Canadian patent no. 97,685. The patent papers and blueprints come with this special piece. Mr. Penman's family said that he sold the patent for a gold watch and a small amount of cash. It has extreme detail that photos just don't do justice. It features 2 different types of wood saws. One is a 4" circular saw with a working off bearing conveyor. It is 11" high and 24" long x 8" wide. It turns over smoothly and appears to be in working order. The other has an 8" cross cut type saw that raises and lowers. It also has a working off bearing conveyor. It also turns smoothly and appears to be in working order. It is 17" long x 31" wide and 5" high. Since the patent and blueprints are for both saws, it will be sold as 1 unit along with the gears, pulleys, wooden prototype gears, wheels and the original belts. 1800's Iredell County Handmade Folk Art Mantle Lot #30 (Sale Order 32 of 304) 1800's Iredell County, NC handmade folk art mantle. The mantle was originally made by Iredell Co. Civil war Veteran (Asa Hicks). The mantle came from a log home off of Snow Creek Road in Statesville, NC. The log home is no longer there. The mantle features hearts and Spades. It measures appx. 62" tall by 76" wide. The fire box is 43" x 52" It is made of southern yellow pine. The mantle has lost some small pieces over the years but overall is in good condition. Rick Wisecarver was a potter and painter who was based out of Roseville, Ohio. His most sought after pieces are the ones he did of Native Americans. He apprenticed under Seagle until he was killed during the Civil War. He died at the young age of 33. His pottery is extremely hard to find and nearly impossible to find with his signature. The item apparently came out of an old Building in a rural NC town. This item is fresh to the market. The Case has had the glass on top replaced and is missing 2 oak doors in the back. I feel these are easy replacements. The front glass is in excellent condition with some scraping of the paint. The front glass is hand painted and has Coca-Cola Decals. The decals are dated Made in USA 1932. The side glass on one side has een cracked. I feel this is one of the neatest Coca-Cola items we have had the opportunity to sell. The case is being sold as we found it. The only thing that has been done is some heavy cleaning on the case. It was really dirty. Rare opportunity to buy a 1 of kind piece of advertising.
