Lot #63 (Sale Order 64 of 176)

Beautiful example with a high clean rounded cheek. Great Strike and luster. Superior eye appeal and virtually mark Free. It is also a very cool variety. It is the VAM 4A which features spiked 8 and pinned wing gouge. The VAM 4A has a Rarity of 5. It is also a very early die state of the VAM 4B which has a die break through the 'E' in America. This example has a die scratch in the exact position, but it is not a break yet. Also, this coin may be a discovery VAM. This one has multiple clashes at the neck, the lips and the back of the hair and Vamworld is not listing any clashed varieties for this date. Definitely worth sending it in to see if it's a Discovery VAM. NGC's Price Guide lists an ms66 at $920. The Wholesale Greysheet lists an ms66 at $700. Estimated Value $800.

Lot #153 (Sale Order 154 of 176)

This is the VAM 33. The VAM 33 has the widest doubled Legs of any Morgan dollar any date. This is actually a very early die state (EDS) of the VAM 33A. If you are a variety collector and like to collect all the stages this is a great example of the die progression. This has the start of the 'n clash', the missing nostril and 2 of the 4 clashes around the nose and lips. You can clearly see from this example how it goes from the VAM 33 to the VAM 33A. This example is lightly golden toned with good luster. Estimated Value $225
