An August 1863 dated Civil War Newspaper "The Evening Post" of New York & damaged 1862 dated Soldier Discharge. The newspaper has reports of the various battles, POWS, blockade runners, cavalry raids and a very interesting article on the South calling up 500,000 black troops for the Confederacy. The discharge is for John Hobbs in 1862 for medical reasons. Interesting pieces of Civil War history.

Confederate Civil War Austrian M1842 .72 Caliber Muzzle Loading Musket - no FFL needed

Here we have a very RARE CSA Memphis Arsenal (or possibly Columbus, MS Arsenal) Conversion of an Civil War import Austrian M-1842 Musket. Though Austrian muskets were purchased by both the North & South, the drum conversion with a raised central disk on the side is associated with the two arsenals mentioned above. They were often carried out on US muskets captured in the Western Theater. The bayonet spring being removed, the German style hammer and the blacksmith forge repaired ramrod are all indicative of Confederate work, as the preponderance of firearms in the Union would have meant such muskets would have been discarded. Also stamped on the stock under the barrel and on the bottom of the barrel are the Roman numerals "XXXX", used by Confederate arsenals to help reassemble conversion muskets. The musket in in good condition and was found in a Richmond, VA attic where it had hung on the wall for over the last 50 years. A rare CS Musket in good condition and you'll get to decide how high to bid on it.

US used Ketland .69 Caliber Percussion Conversion Trade Musket - no FFL needed

This very nice looking Ketland .69 Caliber Percussion conversion Trade Musket is an interesting piece with a 1819 dated military marked 42" barrel, nice half-stock with horn cap and wooden ramrod, marked lock & hammer, and brass furniture. These muskets saw secondary military use from the Revolutionary War onward, and this example is in very good condition.

J Sacket Over/Under Percussion Parts Target Rifle - no FFL needed

This scarce and desirable high quality J Sacket Over/Under Percussion Target Rifle is in very good condition, but unfortunately needs parts to be restored. It has 30" 52 caliber barrels with heavy rifling, but they are missing both nipples, both ramrods and the front sight. It has set triggers, brass furniture and patch box (a bit loose) and very good wood. Both hammers are missing, but the locks and the hammer posts are in good condition. It would be relatively simple to restore this musket as most parts are available.

This very nice US Military Civil War era Model 1862 Joslyn .52 RF caliber Cartridge Cavalry Carbine is in very good/fine condition. Only about 2,000 of these breech-loading carbines were produced, and this example has a very good sharp bore, brass furniture, matching numbers and mixed bluing and patina. Cartouche is sharp and has the initials "RH" next to the saddle ring. A good looking carbine, valued at $3,000+ by Flaydermans Guide.

This US Springfield Arsenal Model 1884 Trapdoor Rifle is in good condition with a fair/good bore. Chambered for the 45/70 cartridge, is fully functional and has the standard cleaning rod and Buffington rear sight. Barrel finish is worn with scattered pitting, the lock, trigger guard and barrel bands have most of their blue. Stock shows normal wear and tear. Serial # 441274

This RARE antique Colt Firearms M-1878 12 Ga. Double Barrel Cartridge Shotgun is serial numbered 3756. It has 30" Damascus barrels with good but dirty bores and the action is tight. Wood is good except for two slight cracks around the trigger guard. It has a steel buttplate and German silver extrusion plate. It comes with a Colt Factory Letter stating it was shipped in 1880 to the H&D Folsom Arms Company of New York. The Colt is a Grade 5 that had some extra engraving - a good looking rare shotgun valued at $2800!

A very unusual Daniel Brown 1840 dated 45 Caliber Percussion Carbine in good/very good condition. It has a very nice walnut stock, brass furniture, half round/half hexagonal heavy barrel and a patchbox. Lock is marked "Steele & Warren, Albany, NY" Looks like it had different rear sights at one time on the 22" barrel. Strangely, the percussion nipple bolster was removed and the recess filled - no idea why?

Germanic 1830s Jaeger 58 Caliber Percussion Rifle - no FFL needed

A very early Germanic or Austrian 1820-30s Jaeger 58 Caliber Percussion Rifle with a 27" hexagonal barrel. It has a light birch stock with cheek piece, brass furniture, set triggers and wooden rod. There are some small cracks and splits on the stock, it has a base for a missing tang peep sight, and the hammer post is broken off flush with the lock late. Once again, a great restoration project!

The rare Lahti L-35 semi-automatic pistol was designed by Finnish Aimo Lahti and was produced between 1935 and 1952. About 9000 pistols were made in four production series. The Finnish Army used the L-35 in the Winter War and the Continuation War, and it was the official service pistol until the 1980s. This non-import Lahti is one of the 4th variants and is in very good condition with 75% finish and has a good bore. It was produced by Valmet, and has two shallow ground circles near the serial number (removed proofs?) and looks to be matching. It comes with an original Finnish brown leather flap holster and has the brass cleaning rod, but there is no loading tool or extra magazine. Last one we saw sell went for over $3500 with no holster, here’s an opportunity to own a rare pistol and you get to determine the price.

It features very nice engraving, 30" barrels, sling swivels, flip-up rifle and tang sights, back-action locks and cheek-piece. Johann Peterlongo of Innsbruck was established in 1854. Initially they were known for percussion revolvers but later for their drilling rifles such as this specimen. Later they became one of the most famous Austrian gun houses, as both gunmakers and dealers, covering the whole Austro-Hungarian Empire (and beyond) by means of their richly illustrated mail order catalogues. Most of their quality Drilling rifles like this ones sell anywhere from $6500 up to $12500, depending on the amount of engraving and the condition or the gun.

Rifle appears all matching, has a very good bore, no import marks and good but worn finish. The scope mount matches, and the scope is a commercial Skopar B with very clear optics. There is nothing wrong with this sniper, but many of these are clever post-war conversion and we are always suspect of SS markings. A rare and desirable US Navy Remington Model 720 30-06 caliber Bolt-Action Trophy Rifle in excellent condition. These rifles were developed by Remington just before WWII with just a few produced before the war caused Remington to cease manufacture. The whole stock was purchased by the US Navy with the thought to produce "sniper" rifles to pick off floating mines. Nothing was ever done, and after the war it was decided to use them as trophy rifles for match competitions. The 720 is a modified version of the 1917 Enfield rifle, and is a five shot 30/06. Very high quality, they ended up being prized possessions of those fortunate shooters to be awarded one. This particular rifle was awarded to top US Navy shooter (in shotgun, rifle and handgun in the mid 1970s) Jon Jenkins. It is in near mint condition with all the original and military proofs, as well as the original box! The last of these rifles were awarded out a few years back, and they are increasing in value daily (Blue Book lists them at $5000+). This soldier, displaying a bowie knife as well as wearing a cap and a southern battle shirt, is most probably a young southern recruit taken early during the Civil War. This type studio pose with the large knife is typical for Confederate images; many other such poses can be seen in the “Confederate Faces” book series by Albaugh and Turner. Noted Virginia Image Collector W. Walker Shindle feels that this is indeed a Southern Image. You decide this soldier’s allegiance. An impressive piece, it comes in a Chesapeake & Ohio Railway case.
