S-1B or Saturn V Large S-IVB Panel Section Lot #161 (Sale Order 163 of 514) A large 7 foot high by 12.5 feet long panel S-IVB stage section off an S-1B rocket or off a Saturn V third stage. Its diameter, if it was complete, was calculated to about 21.5" feet, which would make it the above.
Hardware expert Scott Schneeweis has been able to add the following to the description: It's a part of an S-IVB aft skirt, but the S-IVB was flown on both the S-1B and the Saturn V with slightly different configurations (the differences extend to the aft skirt as well). I cannot determine from the photos which of the two Saturn variants this skirt subassembly was intended for, so it could be either. However, it can be seen where the umbilical plate was located (it's to the very right of the photo with the matrixed holes) - this is the point at which the LUT swing arm mated to the stage.
The winning bidder will make shipping arrangements independent of this auction. The Saturn panel is located in Orlando and there are many shipping companies there that can send it anywhere in the world. I will provide contact information upon request.

Saturn SA-9 Countdown Manual, Volume 1 Lot #164 (Sale Order 166 of 514) An original Saturn SA-9 Countdown Manual dated January 29, 1965. This is Volume 1 which is for the Countdown Demonstration Test. It contains 122 pages of countdown procedures and many of the pages are annotated from the exercise. Used at the time but still nice condition and quite uncommon. SA-9 was launched on February 16, 1965 and was the first Saturn with an operational payload, the Pegasus I meteoroid detection satellite.
According to the consignor, who was in the blockhouse for the launches, and for additional lot information, "The SA-9 (Saturn I Block II), the eighth Saturn I flight, lifted off on February 16, 1965. This was the first Saturn with an operational payload, the Pegasus I Meteoroid Detection Satellite. SA-9 successfully deployed the Pegasus I, NASA's largest unmanned instrumented satellite, into near Earth orbit. Wikipedia has a good write up on the rocket and payload.
This vintage document set is the two volume set for the Saturn Apollo 9 Fuel Loading, Countdown Demonstration Test and Launch Countdown. They were used by a launch team member and have his hand written notes for the launch of SA-9 on Feb 16, 1965 from Launch Complex 37B, Cape Canaveral.
The documents have color cover pages of a drawing of a Saturn launch. These documents are among the few color drawing covers used by NASA for launch countdown procedures, making these books very rare.
The books are 8 ½ by 11 inches, have slick color covers, have comb binding as shown, and are in nice condition.

KSC Lunar Module Simulator Patch, Rare Lot #173 (Sale Order 175 of 514) An original and vintage 3"x 5" KSC Gemini Mission Simulator (GMS) and Lunar Module Simulator (LMS) patch - I know of only two in existence. It has a bare cloth backing and is missing a small bit of edge felt from either being sewn onto a jacket or from insects. It consists of a blindfolded eagle, a representation of the moon, a data stream and bit bucket, and a red bar (bar sinister). As explained to me by the head instructor at the LMS, the interpretation of the symbols is a bit difficult, but it basically means that we fly the world blindfolded (the simulators), in order to land on the moon, using a data stream and bit bucket. The bar sinister (red bar) represents that the KSC team was a secondary outfit compared to the Houston setup (in their mind at the time), and the data stream represents the punch tape used to load the computers at the simulators. Punch tape was only used during the Gemini simulations, leading me to believe this patch was designed at that time, but still used during the LM period. Extremely rare.
