Limited Edition Photos Of 9-11

Lot #402 (Sale Order 1 of 75)

The print series First Pass, Defenders over Washington and Ground Zero, Eagles on Station were commissioned by the USAF. The goal of the work was to recreate the scenes over Washington D.C. and the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001 from the perspective of the first Air Force fighter crews to be scrambled that morning. First Pass (#643/1250) was signed by Mission Commander, Capt. Dean Eckmann, Wingman Major Brad Derrig and Capt. Craig Borgstrom - the first pilots on the scene over the D.C. area. Ground Zero (#149/1250) was signed by Lt Col Tim Duffy and wingman Major Dan Nash, who flew over the Twin Towers just moments after it had been hit. The prints are also signed by artist Rick Herter who was selected from 100 artists for this print program. This is a powerful and emotional set.

Swan River Original Painting On Silk By Nanc Swan River Original Painting On Silk By Nanc

Swan River Original Painting On Silk By Nanc

Lot #405 (Sale Order 4 of 75)

Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey's portraits and landscapes are sensual and bold, uplifting, and distinctly contemporary in their flair. They reflect the expansive vision of an artist who lives in Bigfork, Montana, and draws upon the rich cultures of France, England and the Middle East where she traveled and lived for many years. An internationalist at heart, Cawdrey uses German brushes to paint French dyes across Chinese silk. She gives the refined tradition of silk painting a more rambunctious edge, and she delights in exploring the symbolic power of the American West: cowboys and cowgirls, wildlife and grand vistas. Last year, Nancy's quick-draw sold for $17,000 at Elk Camp! Nancy has contributed more than $18,000 to the Elk Foundation's Business Partners in Conservation program.

Antique Squash Blossom Necklace & Earrings Antique Squash Blossom Necklace & Earrings

Antique Squash Blossom Necklace & Earrings

Lot #407 (Sale Order 6 of 75)

This antique squash blossom set was generously donated by John and Alice Taylor RMEF Life Members and Nampa, Idaho Chapter Committee Members. The beautiful solid sterling silver and turquoise squash blossom necklace and earrings were made in the 1950s and given to Charlotte Eldridge, from Phoenix, Arizona. Charlotte was a prominent television star and champion of Native American rights. The squash blossom necklace is said to have design influence all the way back to the 1500-1600s and the Spanish Conquistidors, but most of the design can be recognized within the last 150 years. The style portrays the close interaction between the Pueblo and Navajo Indians since the mid-1800s. The necklace design itself is said to be Navajo, adopted by the Zuni; yet the incorporation of turquoise on each of the blossoms is said to be the Zuni's influence later adopted by the Navajo.

Griz Costume & Original Painting Griz Costume & Original Painting

Griz Costume & Original Painting

Lot #413 (Sale Order 12 of 75)

Longtime elk camp legend Ferrin 'Griz' Dodson died of cancer February 3rd this year, and his presence and charisma will be deeply missed. Griz was famous for his good humor and for the wild frontiersman outfit he wore the first few days of convention each year. But, just as everyone would get used to his getup, along came Grand Banquet and our own mountain man would become 'Dapper Dan' as Griz doned a tux. Griz's family has generously donated his infamous costume displayed in a wonderful shadowbox. They also commissioned artist W. Downey Dyer, of Santa Cruz, California, to paint his portrait. This original oil painting will accompany Griz's costume. At the buyer's discretion, the costume and painting will be on display at the RMEF new headquarters visitors center, for one year, once the new building is completed. Griz, it's just not the same without you. John Dodson and family, Ventura, CA

If you've been to Elk Camp the last few years you will no doubt remember Joanne Graham's exhibit booth full of the loveable canine paintings. His work has evolved into a unique style truly his own, but the influence of the traditional masters is evident. Randy's subjects range from rural landscapes to wilderness and wildlife. Randy has received many awards and three art magazines have featured him in their artist profile editorials. Randy was named the RMEF 2001 Featured Artist for his painting, Twin Sisters Royalty. The first elk hunt in Kentucky in more than 150 years took place in 2001. The RMEF has had the privilege each year to auction this tag at our national convention and this year another lucky bidder will hunt elk in the Blue Grass State. In six years, Kentucky has gone from zero elk to an impressive, healthy herd of more than 3,500 head in Kentucky's 2.6 million acre, 14-county elk restoration zone. The state record has been broken in two of the past three hunts. Don't pass up this rare opportunity to hunt elk in the beautiful Cumberland Mountains of Kentucky.

Pioneer Original Painting By Larry Zabel Pioneer Original Painting By Larry Zabel

Pioneer Original Painting By Larry Zabel

Lot #434 (Sale Order 33 of 75)

Montana artist Larry Zabel felt the most fitting way to celebrate RMEF 20th Anniversary was to honor RMEF's first acquisition project. The 17,000-acre Robb Creek project located in southwest Montana was finalized in 1987 when RMEF was still in Troy and lead to the establishment of the Robb-Ledford Wildlife Management Area. Larry captured a moment in time that depicts the pioneering spirit of an early Robb Creek homesteader. The Robb-Ledford Wildlife Management Area has become a true "land for the pioneering spirit."

For The Love Of The Game Original Bronze #2/15 By

Lot #439 (Sale Order 38 of 75)

Scott grew up in Michigan with visions of becoming a mountain man. In 1981 he fulfilled his boyhood dream of living in Big Sky country by moving to Montana with his wife Patti. In 1985 they settled in Libby and opened Frontier Taxidermy. Scott's abilities as a taxidermist and artisan earned him many awards at state, national and world competitions. In 1991, bronze sculpture caught Scott's attention and his experience in the taxidermy business made him a natural for sculpting accurate wildlife art. The combination of his love for wildlife and his in-depth knowledge of animal anatomy allow him to create true-to-life wildlife representations. For the Love of the Game is another beautiful piece of work measuring 68"x 19"x 12". Scott has contributed more than $12,000 to the Elk Foundation's Business Partners in Conservation program.

Over The Top Rmef Founder's Artist Proof Bronze By

Lot #460 (Sale Order 58 of 75)

Over a decade ago, Jim Stafford created this exquisite bronze in honor of the Elk Foundation's four founders; Charlie Decker, Bob Munson, Bill Munson and Dan Bull. Their dedication to the cause of American wildlife has led to an organization whose growth and accomplishments are unparalleled in the history of the American conservation movement. Over the Top depicts four bulls going over the top of a ridge, symbolizing the founders' role with the foundation. Six of these bronzes out of the small series of 10 were auctioned at the national conventions with the last one selling in 1997 for $36,000. Jim had created only one artist proof in this series and the owner has donated it back to the Elk Foundation for its 20th anniversary.

Family Tree - The Next Generation 20th Anniversar

Lot #467 (Sale Order 65 of 75)

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's 20th Anniversary painting, Family Tree; The Next Generation is the story of a particular bull elk. The dying bull elk stands before the massive ponderosa, drinking from a stream. His body is gaunt and his head is bowed low under the weight of his hefty rack. In the season of his life, days are becoming shorter. In the foreground a calf-young and fresh-curiously inspects the scenery. Next to him sprouts a sapling ponderosa. "It's about the passage of time, the loss of one generation and beginning of another." Samuelson, a sculptor, artist and guide mines his inspirations from experiences at his favorite places. "We've only got so many years to experience wild places and things," he says. "These experiences become very precious to people." Dave has contributed more than $31,000 to the Elk Foundation's Business Partners in Conservation program.

Hand Carved California King Size Bear Grass Bed By Misty Moun

Lot #469 (Sale Order 67 of 75)

Carved by Sandpoint, Idaho artist Tom Gonser, the "Bear Grass Bed" is a beautiful combination of Northwest native design and Tom's personal carving style. The bed itself has been meticulously handcrafted using carefully selected pieces of alder wood, purple heart and paduk. Beautifully placed throughout the carving are inlays of abalone shell, malachite and black onyx stones and polished copper. The incredibly lifelike grizzly bear claws are molded resins. The bear head design is a replica of a relief panel carved by a Tlingit artist and collected by historian, G.T. Emmons, between 1884 and 1893 near Sitka, Alaska. The original piece once graced the entrance of the chief's long house of the Kar-guan-ton clan of the Tlingit tribe. The other portions of the carving feature native Haida designs and some of Tom's own interpretations.

Lot #476 (Sale Order 74 of 75)

The tops of this unique and rustic set of furniture are made of western juniper root with the legs selected from twisted juniper limbs. Creating furniture out of juniper root is a labor of love mainly due to the amount of time it takes to soak and pressure-wash embedded rocks out of the root. But the character of the wood is worth the time. RMEF silver medallions donated by the RMEF Warner Mountain Chapter are inlayed into the pieces. Byron and Chris are ranchers outside of Alturas, California. Byron is also a self-taught auctioneer and has auctioneered at many RMEF and Duck's Unlimited banquets.
