1963 PROOF DIME + 1968-S DDO CENT - BOTH SLABBED Lot #173a (Sale Order 189 of 861) The 1963 proof dime was graded PF-70 by Colonial Coin Graders (for all you obscure slab collectors out there). The 1968-S cent was graded AU50 by ANACS. The owner had it holdered because there is very prominent doubling on the obverse ("IN GOD WE TRUST", "LIBERTY", the date, and even Lincoln's profile). Could be a sleeper.

1821 BUST QUARTER - ANACS VG-8 Lot #183a (Sale Order 200 of 861) Original looking quarter with nice details. Quite attractive example for the grade.
1825 CAPPED BUST QUARTER - F/VF Lot #184 (Sale Order 201 of 861) A very attractive early quarter. There are some faint pinscratches that do not detract from the eye appeal. There is a good chance this coin could be slabbed without details grading.
1861 SEATED QUARTER - ANACS EF45 DETAILS Lot #184d (Sale Order 202 of 861) Quite attractive despite the old light cleaning. Attractively toned with very nice detail. Conservatively graded.
1853 ARROWS & RAYS QUARTER - ANACS EF45 DETAILS Lot #184a (Sale Order 203 of 861) Very pretty coin that was cleaned long ago and has a little retoning in areas. Excellent details. Most would call it AU today.
1853-O ARROWS & RAYS QUARTER - ANACS VF20 DETAILS Lot #184b (Sale Order 204 of 861) In an old small blue holder. Cleaned long ago. Very lightly toned now. Not bad for the grade.
1854-O ARROWS QUARTER - ANACS EF40 DETAILS Lot #184c (Sale Order 205 of 861) An old cleaning that has retoned. A little splotchy on the reverse. Nice details. Old small blue holder.
1873 ARROWS QUARTER - ANACS VF20 DETAILS Lot #184e (Sale Order 206 of 861) Had an old cleaning that has retoned, primarily on the obverse. Decent for the grade. In an old small blue holder.
1877-CC SEATED QUARTER - ANACS AU50 DETAILS - CLASHED DIES Lot #184f (Sale Order 207 of 861) Cleaned a long time ago when it was fashionable. This coin has retoned attractively. Well struck with nice details. Die clashing is evident on both sides, but particularly strong on the reverse between the eagle's neck and wing. Very nice.
1861 SEATED QUARTER + 1864 TWO CENT PIECE Lot #185 (Sale Order 208 of 861) The 1861 quarter is Poor. The 1864 2 cent is AG with pinscratches.
1883 HAWAII QUARTER DOLLAR - XF Lot #186 (Sale Order 209 of 861) |
1893 PROOF BARBER QUARTER Lot #187 (Sale Order 210 of 861) Would probably be graded Proof 61 or 62. Faint hairlines on both sides. Only 792 were minted.
1893 BARBER QUARTER, 1893 BARBER DIME, 1913 BARBER DIME Lot #188 (Sale Order 211 of 861) The 1893 quarter is AG/G, the 1893 dime is Good, and the 1913 dime is VG.
1913-S BARBER QUARTER - VG-8 - OLD HOLDER Lot #188d (Sale Order 212 of 861) A nice deeply toned example. Looks better than VG-8, as nearly all of the letters in LIBERTY are visible. Looks undergraded to us, but you decide. Only 40,000 minted. ANACS has only graded 141 at this level, with just 56 higher.
1901-S BARBER QUARTER - ANACS GOOD-4 - OLD HOLDER Lot #188a (Sale Order 213 of 861) The KING of Barber quarters. Even in very low grades, this date sells in four figures. From a very old Midwest collection that focused on key dates, we have two of this date (as well as two 1913-S). If you need this date to fill out your set, or if you just want an example to stick back for investment, this will fill the bill. If you want to step it up, bid on the next lot, too. Only 72,664 were minted. ANACS has only graded 95 in Good, with just 75 higher.
1901-S BARBER QUARTER - ANACS VG-8 - OLD HOLDER Lot #188b (Sale Order 214 of 861) From the same old-time collection as the previous 1901-S, this one is a little nicer. A full rim and nice strike. Lots of meat on the bone for a VG. ANACS has only graded 44 at this level, with just 31 higher.
1913-S BARBER QUARTER - ANACS GOOD-4 - OLD HOLDER Lot #188c (Sale Order 215 of 861) If the 1901-S is the King of Barbers, the 1913-S is the Queen. The mintage of the 1913-S is much lower than the 1901-S (40,000 vs. 72,664), but the survival rate of the 1901-S is lower. There were fewer 1913-S quarters minted than there were 1916 Standing Liberty quarters (and we have one of those in this auction as well). The ANACS population is 221 at this level with 197 higher.
1916 STANDING LIBERTY QUARTER - ANACS FINE-12 DETAILS Lot #188e (Sale Order 216 of 861) Everybody knows that the 1916 Standing Liberty quarter is rare. Only 52,000 were minted. This is one of those survivors. Cleaned long ago, as was common practice way back when. Nicely retoned with a light patina. The slab mentions corrosion, and there is very fine granularity on the obverse surfaces, but nothing jumps out as serious. Nice details throughout, as expected with the Fine grade. All digits in the date are legible. Don't let the holder scare you away. Housed in an old small blue holder. From the same old collection as the previous four key date quarters.
1917 TYPE 1 STANDING LIBERTY QUARTER Lot #189 (Sale Order 217 of 861) Weak date, but grades Good.
