Lucelle Raad Lithograph, Est. Value $600

Lot #331 (Sale Order 331 of 38)

"One of the Boys" offset Lithograph measuring approx: 15.00 X 14.00 inches. Est List Price: $600 Lucelle Raad embodies the American dream, in every piece of art she creates. She combines her European concern with human form and her personal search for character with an American twist. The results are her images of children, who, as she says, have "more character in an offhand gesture… than in all the posturing of our adult world". Many are touched by Lucelle's blending of the hopeful innocence of children in a commonplace setting. Each case awakens nostalgia for that youthful honesty and simplicity in all that view her work. The recipient of multiple awards, her most prized award was received at the world famous Washington Square Art Exhibit, an annual event in New York which is an invitational, juried show with over 500 artists from every corner of the globe. Lucelle's art graces many corporate, public, and private collections in every state in the union and in countries around the world

"Mary Ellen Umberger" By Kathy Jo Sledd, 1998

Lot #410 (Sale Order 410 of 38)

This is from Kathy Jo's collection "Pulaski Pal". One of the first female chiropractors in the state of Virginia. Mary Ellen was a life-long resident of Pulaski. The mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was a devoted member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. "I'm not wealthy in worldly goods but I'm rich in good friends. They're worth more than anything money can accumulate." 12" x 9". Dr. Umberger lobbied to get the field of chiropractic licensed in the State of Virginia. She passed away in November of 2004. I am honored to be offering this piece, as I am a chiropractor by day, an auctioneer every other spare minute. In May 2000, Umberger told The Roanoke Times: "God always takes care of me. He takes care of fools and children, and I guess he takes care of me. I don't let any grass grow under my feet. Ha, ha, ha, ha." Yes, I can see myself in her words. This would make a great gift for your chiropractor, trust me, he or she will treasure it.

Hinkle Glass - Long Stem Vase

Lot #433 (Sale Order 433 of 38)

Ron Hinkle is an accomplished master glass artist - an artist who embodies great passion and appreciation for glass and the history of glass making. More than 500 factories have manufactured glass in West Virginia throughout the state's history, and the once booming industry is today a mere shadow of its former self. However, the industry is still quite active, and even thriving, in the small shops and studios around the state. Today, only a handful of glass manufacturers remain in West Virginia, and many of them are very small shops, focusing on artistic expression rather than production. The glass pieces produced in these small studios are true collectibles and hold tremendous value - for both the artist and the collector. Ron Hinkle is one of these masters. This is a beautiful piece and we are honored to be bringing it to you. Main picture is a stock photo provided by Artist. See secondary photo for details of actual piece. 14" Long.
