Cowbell - Blum Mfg. Co. - No.3

I've got a fever and the only prescription is more cowbell. Here is your chance to have your very own. This early cowbell is from the Blum Manufacturing Company of Collinsvile, Illinois. It is a No. 3 bell and shows little edge wear and some age wear to the label. Measures 4.75" in diameter and 5.25" tall.

Set of 6 buttons issued by the Bond Bread Co. Each button features a famous aviator and their most notable plane:

Linberg's "Spirit of St. Louis"
Post & Gatty's "Winnie Mae"
Commander Byrd's "Floyd Benett"
Coste and Bellonte's "Question Mark"
Amelia Earhart's "Friendship"
Floyd Bennet's "Josephine Ford"

Five of the six buttons have their back paper, with the yellow #2 Post & Gatty's being the only one without it. Only numbers 1 & 2 have any foxing - small spots on the rim in the upper right hand corner. The rest are in excellent condition. Measure 1.5" in diameter each.

Anheuser Busch Prohibition Era Bevo Bottle

This is a prohibition era Anheuser Busch 10 ounce Bevo Beverage bottle. It is from Anheuser Busch Brewing Association of Saint Louis, Missouri. The bottle is made of amber glass with paper labels. The paper labels do have flaws such as nicks, tears and paper loss. The bottle is clean with no chips or cracks. Size is 7 1/4" x 2 7/8.

Bronze Statue - Nude Woman Sitting on Goat

This is a detailed nude woman and goat made of bronze. The statue is unsigned and ready to be mounted on to a base or left to sit on a table. We have several bronzes in todays auction all are fresh from a local estate with nice patina and a little dust on most. Approximate size is 12 x 7 x 5 1/2 it is heavy for its size at just under 5 pounds.

Vintage Ice Cream Scoop - Gilchrist Disher #31 Size 20 - Complete w/ Original Box

Lot #6 (Sale Order 6 of 361)

Raymond Gilchrist applied for the patent for his #31 ice cream scoop in 1907 and continued to manufacture the scoop until his company merged with Hamilton Beach in 1931. It was among the most used scoops of all time - find one today and it will work as well as the day it was made. The scoop is made of nickel-plated brass and very well engineered. The box is in good condition. Box measures 11.5" x 3" x 2" deep.

Vintage Heavy Metal Thermometer in Box - Corno's Food Market - Portland, OR

Lot #7 (Sale Order 7 of 361)

Corno's Food Market was a Portland landmark, known for its massive wooden signage along the building's facade in the shape of various fruits and vegetables. The thermometer is believed to have been made before 1963 as there is no zip code present. The consignor got the thermometer at an auction of the store's contents soon after Corno's Food Market closed in 1995. Sign measures 6.5" at the bottom and 8" on the top by 24" long and is in excellent condition.

1906 Calendar Montana Brewing Co.

This 1906 calendar was distributed compliments of the Montana Brewing Co., Great Falls, Montana. The Montana Brewing Co. was in business from 1894 - 1918. It was illustrated by Paul dePongre and printed by the Gray Litho Co of New York. There is a small paper loss on the upper right corner but it is hardly noticeable. The calendar is matted and ready for framing. It measures approximately 16 1/4" x 11 1/4".

1/6th plate tintype of a seared man with his arm resting on a parlor table that contains a book and photo album. Housed in a full case - the protective glass and mat are loosely fitting on top of the image.

Lot of 2 Arrowheads - John Day River - Oregon

Offered are two Columbia River arrowheads that were found at the mouth of the John Day River in Oregon circa 1960. The John Day River is a tributary of the Columbia River. The longer point is made of a great looking multi colored translucent agate and is 1 1/4" x 5/8". The smaller point is also multi colored and is 1" x 5/8". They were found by Walt and Gladys Koch, members of the Oregon Archeology Society.

Hamm's Beer Mirror, Bear in a Row Boat at Picnic

This is a hard to find vintage Hamm's Beer "Refreshing as the Land of Sky Blue Waters" mirror. This Hamm's advertising mirror was made by Beeco Manufacturing Company for the Pabst Brewing Company. The mirror has beautiful detailed graphics and logos. This is 10" x 12 1/2". It is N.O.S. (New Old Stock) there are no chips or cracks. The pictures do not do this Hamm's mirror any justice, you will not be disappointed.

Countertop Display Box - M. Hohner Harmonicas

This display box has three connected sections which all lift up to expose the three different storage sections. The top of the box bears the inscription "M. Hohner's World Renowned Harmonicas Made In Germany." When open, the inside of the box top has a beautiful stone litho of a group of people playing M. Hohner harmonicas with the title "M. Hohner The finest Harmonica made." Truly a very eye-catching display in excellent condition. Measures 11" w x 9" d x 6" tall when closed; 14" tall when open.

Round Bakery Bread Thermometer - "Fresh Zone" - Albert A. Weiss & Son, Inc.

This round thermometer features with the inscription "Quality requires temperature control" and has two different "zones," the "Stale Zone" and the "Fresh Zone." The thermometer also bears an inscription stating "Keep Above 75°." In order to keep bread fresh, it needed to be stored at above 75° F. The thermometer is in like new condition, in good working order, and appears to be from the 1960s. Bears the marks "Albert A. Weiss & Son, Inc." and "Made In U.S.A." near the bottom. Measures 12" in diameter.

1948 Schedule - The Great Falls, Montana Electric Baseball Team Home Schedule

"Take Me Out To The Ball Game". This brightly colored poster features the 1948 home schedule for the Great Falls, Montana Electric baseball team. It measures 14" x 11" and is in very good condition. The bottom right corner has been professionally repaired. This does not distract from the piece and is mentioned only for accuracy. It includes the date of July 28th as the date for the league's all star game. It was distributed by Great Falls Select Beer.

Up for auction is a vintage Bohemian Ginger Ale advertising die cut hanging cardboard sign. It shows a paper label Bohemian Ginger Ale bottle and a couple of glasses. The graphics and colors for this soda pop advertisement are really nice. Looks to be artist signed but we could not make out the name. Size is 13 1/2" x 10 3/4". Shows light wear.

Ivory Soap Antique Vintage Poster by Jessie Willcox Smith

The artist on this original old poster is the highly collected, Jessie Willcox Smith. This small poster is from 1899. And in the small print at the bottom there is reference to ordering the inset image in a larger size by sending in multiple empty soap packages. The poster size is 10 1/2 x 16 inches. It has been professionally linen backed to help preserve it and make it flat, the backing border extends another 2 inches. The item will be rolled when shipped.

We are pleased to be offering two old Clyde Beatty Cole Brothers circus posters in this auction. This one is a very unusual format, nearly square. It still has its bold fresh colors and it is in really good condition. And we are fortunate to still have its original snipe (attachment at the bottom) for the city of Miami. There are two faint tape stains, see photos. This item has not been restored or backed. The size is 28 x 29 1/2 inches with the added snipe at the bottom, and 28 x 21 1/4 if you were to remove the attachment.

Historic Civil War Engraving of The Sixth Massachusetts Regiment Repelling the Attack... Baltimore

This fine old engraving had been taken from original artwork that had been done in the field during the Civil War. The plate would have been original and in this case, printed and bound later for publication, 1860's originally, bound later, perhaps at the turn of the 20th century. It is printed on both side with the reverse side showing "The Navel Brigade, Under Lieut. Perkins, Constructiong the Marine Battery on Shuter's Hill to Guard Alexandria, VA" and on the other half "Views from the Federal Works on Folly Island, Charleston Harbor". Size: 23 1/8 x 16 3/4 inches.

Vintage 1940s Toast-O-Lator Toaster

This toaster was manufactured by the Toast-O-Lator Co., Inc. of Long Island, NY. This type of toaster was made from 1939-1952. This type of toaster features a conveyor belt-type mechanism to toast the bread - inserting the bread in one end and receiving toasted bread on the other end. It is in good working order and is pretty neat to watch. Measures 12" x 10" x 4".

Vintage 1940s Orphan Annie's Cold Ovaltine Shake-Up Mug Radio Premium - Green

In 1940, Ovaltine came out with an additional color - green - to their original light blue mug from 1938. This green mug is harder to find than the earlier, light blue mug and features a red top as well as a decal of Annie skipping rope while her dog Sandy looks on. Mug is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. The bottom of the mug bears the mark "'Beetleware' Manufactured exclusively for the Wander Co., Chicago Makers of Ovaltine." Measures 4.5" tall x 3" in diameter.

Evoking the feeling of Paris during the Belle Epoque, these saucy weekly magazines promoted current events, writers and music. The main artist for these had been Theophile Steinlen, who did the cover art, back and front. He had been a compatriot of Toulouse Lautrec. We have seen the covers of these sold in Vintage Poster Galleries for hundreds of dollars. The printing is terrific stone lithography. The size on each is 16 1/4 x 11 inches. The condition is somewhat rough looking, with detachment along the seam. Considering their age, mid 1890's, they are in pretty decent shape.

1994 Wheaties Box, NFL 75th Anniversary

1994 Wheaties cereal box celebrating the NFL's 75th Anniversary. It is autographed by the late Sammy Baugh, who played quarter back for the Washington Redskins from 1937 to 1952 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1963. Consignor knows the autograph is authentic, as his son was close friends of Baugh's. He had signed many things for him over the years of which this was one of them.

Very Rare Montana Sport Cigar Box with Label of English Springer Spaniel

This very rare Montana Sport cigar box from the Garnier Cigar Co. Livingston, Montana features an original stone litho of the English Springer Spaniel. The design was copyrighted by Chas. Garnier of Livingston, Montana and is in overall very good condition. The box measures 7 1/2" x 5 1/2' x 3 1/2". Also included is an unused book of matches advertising the Montana Sport Cigar, Garnier Cigar Co. This is in excellent condition and would made a wonderful addition to any collection.

Hires Stoneware Root Beer Extract Bottle

This Hires Stoneware Root Beer Extract Bottle dates form 1870 - 1910 and appears to be of the same vintage as the pottery whiskey bottles used by John Kennedy's father. The bottle measures 7 1/2" tall and 2 1/2" at the base. It is in very good condition with not chips or cracks. It does show slight wear on the bottom.

Vintage 1920-30s Hickory Golf Club - AMPCO Metal - "Jigger 14" - 31-Degree Loft

Lot #37 (Sale Order 37 of 361)

This vintage hickory gold club was made by the American Metal Products Company (AMPCO), which started making golf club heads in the late 1920s to early 1930s. AMPCO marketed their club heads as "Harder Than Steel," a mark which can be seen on the club head itself, right underneath the "AMPCO METAL" stamping. It is rumored that AMPCO used beryllium copper in their alloy, thus giving their metal its strength. The club head is labeled as a "Jigger 14" and has a 31-degree loft. The club measures 37.5" long from the top of the club head to the base of the shaft. The shaft itself is made of hickory and does not have any cracks or bends in the wood. The grip has some damage to it but is still intact and attached to the club. Overall, the club is in excellent condition.

Meerschaum pipes are known for their exquisite designs on the bowls. Here is a hand carved pipe that features a Lion's head bowl It is complete with a removable amber stem for easy cleaning. The carved bowl is 3 1/8" x 2 3/8" x 1 1/2", overall length with stem is 6 1/4". This pipe is fresh from a local estate and is exactly as received. It is used and no attempts have been made to clean it.

Arrow Shaft Straightener - Columbia River - Oregon

Offered is an arrow shaft straightener. This was found at the Wakemap Mound site in 1956. Size is approximately 4 3/8" x 2 3/4" x 2". Located near Five Mile Rapids, Wakemap Mound is a mound at the site of Wishram Village. The site is now surrounded by water caused by the construction of The Dalles Dam. All the artifacts we are offering were found by Walt and Gladys Koch members of the Oregon Archeology Society "OAS" between 1955 and 1965. This piece was even pictured in the OAS publication Wakemap Mound printed in 1959.

Montana Highway Maps 1939 1941

This lot features four items from the Montana Highway Commission. The first is a booklet called Picture Writing is dated 1938 and is 8 1/2" x 11" close. Next are three Montana state highway maps from 1939, 1941 & 1942 closed they are 4 1/4" x 9 3/8". The booklet has a small tear on the right center of the cover and first page otherwise looks unused . All the maps show signs of use with wear to the folds. All the items have great graphics and art work! In the pictures is the inside of one page from the booklet and a map opened on one side, the other side shows the entire state.

Rainier Jubilee Can Match Holder

As far as we know, the company used three different cowgirls in their advertising and this version was the second one. This is a great, very colorful tin in excellent condition. Measures 6.5" x 5".

Glass Advertising Paperweight - Bickford & Francis Belting Co. - Buffalo, NY

This paperweight was patented on Sept. 5, 1882 and manufactured by the Barnes & Brams Co. of Syracuse, NY. It is advertising the Francis Belting Co. of Buffalo NY. There are light to moderate surface scratches on the top of the piece with a noticeable, inch-long one near the top middle of the piece. Otherwise, the piece is in excellent condition. Measures 4" x 2.5"

Set of 2 Holiday Books: 'The Night Before Christmas" w/ Cut-Outs - Easter Greeting Cards - 1930-40

Get a head start on the holidays with these 2 books. The first, "The Night Before Christmas" is dated 1938 and was illustrated by Elizabeth Tedder. Besides the popular Christmas poem there are cutouts, all intact, of Santa in his sleigh and his eight reindeer. The cover shows some slight wear but the overall condition is very good. It measures 12" x 8 3/4". The second book, Easter Greeting Cards, was designed by Eve Rockwell and dated 1947. It is included in the Special Collections and Archives Collection at Kent State University. This book includes 26 cards, all unused and in excellent condition. The book measures approximately 13 1/2"x 9 1/4"

Old American Brand Whiskies Novelty Gaming Sheets - Pekin, Illinois - Rye, Bourbon or Blend Race

Offered are eleven old novelty gaming sheets. We have never seen anything like these before. They look to be from the late 1930s by the patent number and are from Old American Brand Whiskies and The American Distilling Company of Pekin, Illinois. Near the top of the page by the cartoon like character is a spot that reads "Touch Lighted End of Cigarette Here." There is a starting line with three horses and a race track. It looks like once you light it, the paper starts burning and the horses take off in a race. It also looks like when held to the light that the paper was soaked in something to make the horses follow the track. Each sheet is 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and was made by Twenty First Century Novelty Company of New York.

Advertising Flashlight for Burgess Battery Company

This is a great piece of vintage advertising and a working flashlight. The outer case is a tin lithograph case telling about how good Burgess batteries are and that when you are ready to buy a real flashlight to ask your dealer to sell you a "Burgess" one. This was manufactured by The Burgess Battery Company. The flashlight works fine with 2 "D" Batteries. It has a slide switch on the side. size is 6" x 1 1/2".

Bali/Indonesian Kris Sword - Meteorite Metal Blade - 19"

This kris measures 22" with the scabbard - 19" unsheathed. It is believed to be from either Bali or Indonesia and features an ornate handle as well as scabbard - both are made of wood, either walnut or oak.

Battle of Ichi-no-Tani Antique Japanese Woodblock Triptych Print by Yoshifuji or Yoshifusa ca.1880

There is a great entry on Wikipedia of the famous battle depicted here, Ichi-no-Tani. This is one of the most desirable prints sets (triptychs) by the artist, Yoshifuji (or Yoshifusa). It is from around 1880. The artist Yoshifuji lived from 1828 to 1889. This great grouping of three woodblock prints was designed as a horizontal grouping, triptich, but often displayed individually. Each panel depicts an aspect of a greater scene. Works like this depict well known stories, fiction and non-fiction. The date on this is around 1880. The artist is unknown to us. The size put-together is 28 3/4 x 14 inches, each panel approximately 9 1/2" wide. The details and printing quality is outstanding. There is some paper residue in places on the reverse, see photo. And there is some discoloration in the sky on the left-most panel.

Very Rare Sick's Rainier Beer Barometer and Calendar Light Up Sign

This is a very rare Sick's Rainier Been Sign, it lights up and includes both a barometer and perpetual calendar. It is in excellent condition and everything works The sign measures 16" x 9" and would be a great piece for your collection.

Up for auction is a pair of proof like uncirculated coin sets from Canada. They are both six coin sets with 4 of the 6 coins in the sets being silver. The first set is from 1964 and the other set is the 1967 Canadian Centennial set. The centennial set is unique in that the back of each coin has a different animal and was only made with that design the one year. Both sets come in their original plastic seal from The Royal Canadian Mint. The sets pictured are the actual sets you will receive.

Lidded Beer Stein / Tivoli - A-Select - Lager

This lidded beer stein was distributed by Tivoli Lager. It has a pewter lid and the stein is dark blue pottery showing a hunter stalking goats. It is approximately 6" tall including the lid, without the lid it is about 4 3/4". In 1906 August Lang bought out 2 brothers and formed August Lang & Co. a bottling company which was the primary bottler for the Fredericksburg Brewery. The company then added their own brand of beer to bottle and distribute, called "Tivoli Lager". It shows slight wear on the bottom but otherwise is in very good condition with no cracks or chips.

Vintage Hills Bros. Cup & Saucer - China - Made In Germany

This China cup & saucer has a crown mark and was made in Germany. All the gold trim is intact and the quality of the China is excellent. No chips, cracks or stains. Cup measures 2.25" tall by 2.25" in diameter. Saucer measures 5" in diameter.

In 1906 an artist named Briggs offered to create a company trademark for Hills Bros. - this is where the company and Briggs came up with the logo/trademark known as "The Taster." From 1906 to 1922, The Taster was to the left side of the coffee can. In 1922, they moved him to the center, where he has since stayed.

Columbia River Arrowheads - 3 Klickitat Daggers

This lot features three very nice examples of Columbia River arrowheads, these look like they are klickitat Daggers. They were found circa 1955 at the Five Mile Camp Site also called Five Miles Rapids or Locks on the Columbia River. It is a well known site that produced many artifacts before the Dalles dam was built. Size is approximately for the largest one 1 1/2" x 3/8" with the smallest ones being 1" x 1/4". These were found by Walt and Gladys Koch members of the OAS and have remained in there collection until now.

Harley Davidson Showroom Sign

This sign was used for advertising in the Harley-Davidson Showrooms. The consignor thinks this is form the 50's and from the same collection as the other Harley-Davidson sign in the auction and are the only ones that we have seen. There is some light foxing on the upper right corner and some browning on the outside border. Don't forget to look at the great photograph of "Bikes From 1914". The sign measures approximately 14 1/4" x 11 1/4". A must for the motorcycle enthusiast.

This great old glass sign is from Great Falls Breweries of Great Falls, Montana. It was made for them by Becco out of Chicago and has a zone listed in their address, this leads us to believe that it is from the early 1960s. It has a tab near the top that could be popped out and the sign would hang from it, there is also an easel on back that pops out as well. If that was not enough ways to mount it there are also two double stick pieces of foam tape to mount it directly to the wall. Size is approximately 9 1/2" x 12". There are no chips, cracks or repairs the double stick tape is missing or used.

Swami Fortune Teller Napkin Dispenser

The front of the napkin holder has a window advertising Swami and showing you questions you could ask with your penny. The chrome is as nice as we have seen - looks like it was never used, and it's complete with the original lock and working key. These were placed on counters in cafes and restaurants, and while you waited for your order you could put a penny in, push down the lever, and have your yes or no questions answered, as well as getting a fortune or saying. You could also grab a napkin from either side. We just filled it with a stack of vintage fortunes. As many of us know, a very famous Twilight Zone episode starring William Shatner featured a machine much like this! Don't miss out on this amazing piece! Size is 7" x 8 3/4" x 5".

Reliable Nut Company Tray Vending Machine

Offered is a small counter top 5 cent tray type vending machine. This machine was made by Reliable Nut Company of Los Angeles, California. They first made the machine in 1934 and was a short lived company. This machine is all original and has an original decal, there is also a paper tax label from Portland, Oregon dated 1946 on the back of the glass globe. The Machine does work and could vend nuts or small candies. The top has a screw type lock that can be opened by hand. The bottom has the same type screw lock but we do not have the wrench to open it. The tray is 9 3/4" with the machine being 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". This machine is as clean as they come!

Vintage Breweriana - Ballentine's Beer Songbook From the 1939 New York's World Fair

"Ballantine Inn Presents Ballentine book of Ballads" This booklet contains the words to many songs that were popular at that time. It is in the shape of a beer mug was distributed by the Ballentine Inn for the 1939 New York's World Fair. It is 10 1/2" tall and 7" wide including the handle and has the 3 ring logo on the front. There is a crease on the top of the handle on the back cover but otherwise it is in very good condition. It also describes the various Ballantines brews.

1957 Pam Thermometer - Peerless Trailers

This thermometer is from Peerless Trailers of Portland, Oregon. Peerless trailers are large trailers used mostly with semi trucks. The thermometer was made by Pam Clock Co. Inc of Rochelle, New York and is date 57 for 1957. This has great color and is in nice overall condition. The outer frame is made of aluminum and has nice patina with mounting tabs on back. There are some white specks on the inside of the glass along with a little dirt or dust. Measures 12" in diameter and 2" thick. There are no chips or cracks to the glass.

Universal Vendor St. Louis, Missouri - New Old Stock Vending Machine

This is an original never used right out of the original shipping box vending machine. We have never seen a machine this clean before. The machine is identical to the machines made by Oak Manufacturing and may have been made by them for Universal as they did make custom machines for other vendors in there early years during the late 1940s. The machine has an embossed lid that reads Universal Vendors of St. Louis, MO. Almond-ette the thank you cover also features an image of a globe which we had not seen before either. Instead of the usual glass globe this features a metal top with 3 removable clear plastic panels; one has an original decals that mentions almond-ettes. Size is approximately 14 x 6 1/2 x 6 1/2. The machine was filled to take pictures and will be sent empty. The machine has an adjustable wheel inside and can vend any type of bulk candy, gum or nuts.

Vintage 1933 Black Jack Chewing Gum Puzzle Promotional Giveaway

This puzzle was given away in 1933 in exchange for two gum wrappers and 5 cents. The puzzle art was done by Alan Foster, the famous illustrator who did many magazine covers of the 1930s-40s. Black Jack chewing gum was a favorite of its day - along with Clove-Beemins Pepsin - and was made by the American Chicle Company. The puzzle is complete and in excellent condition. Measures 7" x 10.25".

Grand Army of The Republic Badges

The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army, US Navy and Marines who served in the American Civil War. Founded in 1866 in Decatur, Illinois, it was dissolved in 1956 when its last member died. The GAR was among the first organized advocacy groups in American politics, supporting voting rights for black veterans, lobbying the US Congress to establish veterans' pensions, and supporting Republican political candidates. The badge with the star at the bottom and eagle at the top was authorized by Congress to be worn on the uniform by Union veterans. The other four pin back buttons are from different GAR events and or encampments. They are all approximately 1 1/4 in size. The one on the bottom right has some foxing, the rest do not.

This porcelain medication canister was meant for display at a pharmacy and is particularly different because it says "Rexall" on the back. Beautifully hand painted with gold, sage green and yellow artwork, this canister also features the words "Cera Flava" on the front which translate to "yellow wax." This canister was given away by drug companies to pharmacies circa 1960 as gifts. No chips or cracks. Measures 11.25" x 4.5".

In 1953, Welch's started putting their grape jelly in glasses that featured the likenesses of the different Howdy Doody characters, as well as their different catchphrases and sayings. There were six designs in various colors - up for bid is five different glasses in two different colors - orange (3) and red (2). There are no chips, cracks or fade to any of the glasses. All five glasses are very colorful and are in excellent codition. Measures 2.5" in diameter and 4" tall.

Vintage Arm & Hammer Sold Vulcnaite Match Holder

This rare Arm & Hammer Soda Match Holder is made of vulcanite probably between 1890-1908. The material is very fragile so probably not many survived. On both the top and bottom pieces is the Arm & Hammer Logo with the words "Arm & Hammer Soda" and is marked on the bezel "Compliments of Church & Co". It is approximately 3" in length and is very clean and in excellent condition. You will have a hard time finding a nicer piece.

This oddity is from around 1926. There is a great entry in Wikipedia on the company. From England or Ireland for an Irish company, the printing appears to be stone lithography. It has been carefully removed from it's original packaging and place upon linen-backing (acid-free paper over canvas). It would have originally been place on the windows of the train cars. The size is 12 1/4 x 13 3/8 inches. There has been some touch-up in small places where the colors have flaked off. The item will be shipped flat.

She is in a green corset with a chiffon fishtail skirt that spills onto the floor. This is a Gold Label Collector's Edition. The Gold Label Keepsake dolls have a limited production with no more than 25,000 produced worldwide with this doll only having 6500 produced making it a truly Rare doll. Blitz Weinhard Lighted Motion Sign

This is a great old sign from the mid fifties. It is for Blitz Weinhard beer from Portland, Oregon. It features the snow flake design they started using in 1956 for the 100th anniversary of the brewery. The sign has a metal back and plastic face with a motion wheel inside that makes the sign look like it has falling snowflakes. The sign was made by The Ohio Advertising Display Company and is approximately 15 x 4 1/2".

The box, except for a tear on one of the sides is also in very good condition. One of the stands is missing but with an x-acto knife and a piece of cardboard one could easily be made. The box measures approximately 9 1/4" x 1/2".

This amazingly detailed work of art depicts two characters in a Kabuki play. This is probably a comical scene from the play in which the characters converse over a bowl of noodles. Old woodblock prints depicting Japanese food have become very collectable in recent years. The artists on this are Toyokuni lll 1786-1864 and Hiroshige 1797-1858. Publisher is Kinshodo with a seal from 1854.

Lucky Bankers Ale Flat Top Beer Can

Offered is an 11 ounce flat top beer can from Lucky Lager Brewing Company of San Francisco, California. It is for Lucky "Bankers" Ale. This is a very nice indoor can with great color and shine. The can was recently found full and has been bottom opened. The bottom of the can has some green paint loss and there are a few case dings along the rims with some humidity spot here and there. This is one of the cleanest examples of this can we have seen.

Offered are two different pre-prohibition beer glasses from the Los Angeles Brewing Company. They are from Los Angeles Brewing Company series of different California Missions and also both advertise Mission Malt Tonic. These are from Mission Santa Barbara and Carmel Mission. The Mission Santa Barbara still has its gold rim intact and has one fleabite/chip. The Carmel Mission glass has no chips or gold rim. Size of both glasses is approximately 2 7/8" x 2" the Carmel glass is slightly shorter and may have been polished to remove chips.

It appears that thre has been some slight fading in the colors. It has been professionally linen-backed. We have done our best to grade the condition of each comic on our own. Most comics very very well taken care of and will be anywhere from VG/FN to VF/NM. Please refer to the following guide for details on each separate condition grade.

VF/NM 9.0 - 1/8 inch bend with no color break, very minor foxing allowed, small amount of cover wear, several date stamps and or small hidden initials allowed, slight staple tears allowed. Minor accumulation of stress lines allowed and some very minor interior tears allowed.

VF+ 8.5 - 1/4 inch cover crease with no color break allowed, minor spine split with some minor color break allowed. Some slightly more noticeable stress lines allowed and paper can be cream to tan but must remain supple.

VF 8.0 - Same as 8.5 but with some very very minor spine roll - must lay almost completely flat.

VF- 7.5 - Same as 8.0 but cover can have light cover soiling and some interior pages can have slight corner tears. Cover can have some corner wear.

FN/VF 7.0 - Moderate reduction of cover reflectivity - minor creases allowed, minor foxing, interior cover yellowing. Date stamps, initials and store stamps are allowed. Slight rust migration allowed - blunted corners, minor margin tears on interior pages allowed. More and deeper stress lines allowed.

FN+ 6.5 - Up to 1/4 inch spine split or severe color break are allowed. Minor spine rolls allowed and cover can have minor discoloration, staining and/or foxing as well as minor to moderate cover creases.

FN 6.0 - Same as 6.5 with a loose but attached centerfold.

FN- 5.5 - Same as above but with some marvel chipping present as well as some bundling ridges and minor abraded edges. Also light pencil marks possible.

VG/FN 5.0 - Low cover gloss, possible minor to moderate dimples and creases present. Up to 1/2 inch spine split - moderate rolling of the spine. May also have the beginning of an acid odor.

VG+ 4.5 - Cover wear is moderate to significant - cover may be loose. Cover may be faded and staples discolored, moderate staple tears. Up to 1" spine split, moderate stress lines and moderate interior tears. Minor odor, minor repairs and up to a 1/4 inch triangle or 1/8 square missing (must not effect story). Pages can be brown but not brittle.

VG 4.0 - Same as above but with heavy spine wear and brown staining on cover. Some pen and/or pencil writing is common but should not be excessive.

Six of the point all look to have been made of the same type of material while the smallest point is made of agate and looks like it was unfinished as one edge on one side is not flaked. These are large points with most over 2" x 1 1/4". The smallest is still of nice size at 1 1/2" x 7/8". They were found by Walt and Gladys Koch.
