2011-W 1 oz .999 fine Proof Silver American Eagle orig box w/COA 2011-W 1 oz .999 fine Proof Silver American Eagle orig box w/COA

2011-W 1 oz .999 fine Proof Silver American Eagle orig box w/COA

Lot #41 (Sale Order 42 of 202)

This lot is for the 2011 proof American Silver Eagle. The American Silver Eagle is the only silver bullion coin in the world whose purity is guaranteed by the government of the United States. It stands at the summit of a two hundred year history of American silver coinage. The American Silver Eagle program was authorized by Congress in late 1985 with the first coins appearing the following summer. American Silver Eagles are composed of silver mined exclusively in the United States with a purity of .999, making them the purest silver bullion coins ever minted and offered to the public by the United States. All American Silver Eagles are struck in the one troy ounce denomination with a stated face value of $1. The American Silver Eagle is considered by many to be the most beautiful coin in production today. It takes its design directly from one of the most popular and iconic coins in U.S. history, Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty half-dollar of 1916-1947. Lady Liberty is depicted striding confidently toward a rising sun, draped in the security of the American flag, and carrying laurel and oak branches that symbolize American civic and military power. The reverse of the coin features a new design created expressly for the American Silver Eagle by John Mercanti, the chief engraver at the U.S. Mint. It depicts a proud heraldic eagle placed directly beneath thirteen stars representing the original thirteen colonies. The American Silver Eagle Proof Coins are produced in West Point, New York, using a painstaking minting process that involves the manual feeding of polished coin blanks into specialized presses that strike each potential proof coin several times. The result of this incredible attention to detail is the creation of an American Silver Eagle with stunning, frosted devices atop a brilliantly mirrored field. This Proof Eagle is in the original mint issued satin-lined velvet box with the certificate of authenticity. American Silver Eagle Proof Coins are true collector’s items and, as such, are only produced in exceedingly limited quantities each year. Estimated Value $175

1917-d reverse Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Grades VF+ 1917-d reverse Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Grades VF+

1917-d reverse Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50c Grades VF+

Lot #92 (Sale Order 94 of 202)

According to David Hall: The 1917-D on Reverse is a semi-key date in the Walking Liberty half dollar series. It is scarce in circulated gardes and very scarce in mint state. The 1917-D Reverse is decidedly rarer than the 1917-D obverse, marginally rarer than the 1917-S Reverse, but not as rare as the 1917-S Obverse. Strike is usually decent on this issue and luster is often very nice. This is an Average example of the coin. In 1916 and 1917 the mintmark was on the Obverse below the R in Trust, but after that it was moved to the known place on the reverse. The 1917-d and 1917-s had them minted in both ways. This is the very rare 1917-d R with the mint mark on the Reverse. Lightly toned example with good eye appeal. A nice example of this scarce date. Trends lists at $200-$325. Estimated Value $300

GIANT 8 troy Oz .999 Fine Silver 1995 Silver Eagle Washington Mint GIANT 8 troy Oz .999 Fine Silver 1995 Silver Eagle Washington Mint

GIANT 8 troy Oz .999 Fine Silver 1995 Silver Eagle Washington Mint

Lot #93 (Sale Order 95 of 202)

This is for a 1995 Washington Mint Silver Eagle. This is a full half pound. 8 troy ounces of .999 fine silver made by the Washington Mint. The Washington Mint has been making privately minted rounds since 1981. They are a little unusual in that someone thought a troy pound contained 16 troy ounces (a troy pound is actually 12 troy oz) so the "One pound" medallions they mint contain 16 troy oz, their "half pounds" are 8 troy oz and "quarter pound" means 4 ounces. This beautiful silver art round contains 8 troy oz ("one half pound") .999 fine silver minted as a proof. The round is lightly toned with a mirrored background and still sealed in plastic. This is a beautiful proof silver art round. Very cool, hard to find and sought after. Packaged in a blue velvet box. Estimated Value $600

2011-p Medal of Honor Proof Commemorative Silver Dollar Orig box w/coa

Lot #165 (Sale Order 167 of 202)

The 2011 Medal of Honor was issued in 2 designs as a Silver Dollar and $5 Gold. The obverse of the Medal of Honor Silver Dollar coin depicts three current Army, Navy and Air Force Medals of Honor, left to right. The ribbon with field of stars in the center is the common feature of all three medals, reflecting the joint nature of modern era warfare and the fact that the Medal of Honor is the only U.S. military medal worn around the neck. The reverse features a contemporary Army infantry soldier carrying a wounded soldier to safety under enemy fire, reflecting the courage and self-sacrifice of all Medal of Honor recipients. This image conveys the courage, selfless sacrifice and patriotism of Medal of Honor recipients, as well as the criteria established by Congress in 1963 requiring that all Medals of Honor be awarded. This beautiful commemorative is in the original mint packaging with the box and the certificate of authenticity. Estimated Value $100

1837 Liberty Not One Cent Millions For Defence Hard Times Token HT-46

Lot #176 (Sale Order 178 of 202)

1837 Liberty, Not One Cent Millions For Defence, Satirical Hard Times Token. Nice brown color. I estimate the grade to be VF+. Very good eye appeal. It is a rare piece of American history, and a true prize for collectors. The period of economic hardship during Van Buren's presidency (the Panic of 1837) came to be known as the "Hard Times". With America in a deep recession, people began hoarding coins as a safeguard, and small change disappeared from the marketplace. In response, merchants began buying tokens from private mints so they could make change in business transactions.  They were made of copper with a reverse similar to legal U.S. cents.
