WWI MIDDLE EAST THEATER PHOTO ALBUM, 1915-1916 Lot #1 (Sale Order 1 of 112) Photo album from a British officer, features approximately 160 photographs, period affixed to black paper pages. Facing pages feature handwritten description for each image. Many from Muscat, Oman and environs, Mosul, Basra, Cairo and Egypt in general, Henjam (Hengam) Island (present day Iran). Many great views including a variety of soldiery including a Russian contingent, all circa 1915-1916. A few loose images, some fading, but a remarkable record of this theater. 7.25 x 11.75 inches overall. Very good condition.

WWI GERMAN OFFICER'S PHOTO ALBUM, EASTERN FRONT Lot #2 (Sale Order 2 of 112) 225 photos, album with woven cover. Numerous images of junior and senior officers, Marne (Ft. Brimont) in France, then an abrupt shift to the eastern front - probably the Lvov/Lemberg, Ukraine area - and an occupied village with many candid images. Also photo postcards of the Kaiser visiting wounded in hospital, random French photo postcards, Russians in native dress, and Lvov postcards. Very good condition.

Bulk of the album consists of official British photos: Damascus, Aleppo, Safed, Nazareth, Zahleh, Baalbek, Acre, Tyre, Sidon, Haifa, Tomb of St. John, and Emir Feisel emerging from a meeting with General Allenby, for you 'Lawrence of Arabia' fans. Loose photos of various subjects, including a photo of Turkish staff with allies, and more. Good condition.

WWI WESTERN FRONT PHOTO ALBUM WITH POSTCARDS Lot #6 (Sale Order 6 of 112) 321 photos, includes photo postcards, tanks, ruins, trenches, bodies, howitzer, etc, most with English-language captions, a strip of Iron Cross 1914, 2nd class ribbon on a page with official photos of the Kaiser, Hindenburg, the Crown Prince and staff, pic of Quentin Roosevelt's grave, wrecked planes, a dead horse blown into a tree, and more. Many large, heavy pages detached. Album in poor condition, pictures and postcards in good condition overall.

IMPERIAL GUARD JAPANESE PHOTO ALBUM CIRCA WWII Lot #7 (Sale Order 7 of 112) Album with 43 photographs related to the Imperial Guard in Tokyo; some official, others candid shots of junior officer and pals, plus commanders, etc. Starts off with photo of the emperor, of course. Possibly the personal album of a member of the guard itself. Great views of uniforms and insignia, images very clear. Includes a bag of loose photographs, three original shots of men in civilian and military dress, plus several photo book marks of shrine and other views. English language 'Photo Album' front cover. Photographs good to very good.

Great views of uniforms, mostly junior officers, NCOs and enlisted. War damage, tank, etc. Album missing its cover. Large black cardstock pages. Average condition, lacks cover, age and some mildew present.

TWO AMERICAN WWI PHOTO ALBUMS Lot #9 (Sale Order 9 of 112) One consisting of mostly immediate-post war images, includes approximately 153 photos, many captioned in the photos themselves. Considerable amount showing the return voyage home aboard the USS Huntington, attributed to the 151st Field Artillery. Many great views of uniforms and insignia, war damage, captured munitions paraded and displayed in France. Also includes shots from back in the US, as well as stock photos of other ships, and an original Troop Billet ticket for the USS Leviathan (nee Vaterland of the Hamburg-Amerika Line, seized by the US in 1917 and renamed), fully stamped. Second album is smaller, consists of 26 photos, a lot of stock and photo postcards of bodies, damage, etc. Includes a shot of the wheel house of a downed German zeppelin. Related to the 105th Aero Squadron.

Many military shots with great views of uniforms, training - including a listening station, MG set up, tank, etc, also candid shots and great shots of officers with various orders and medals. Purple silk boards with impressed design, handpainted details, and half faux snakeskin binding. Most photos with handwritten kanji white captions. Not a complete album, but with some stunning images. Good overall.

LATE 19TH CENTURY RAILWAY LINE CLEARANCE INDICATOR Lot #27 (Sale Order 27 of 112) Mahogany cased rail line clearance indicator. 'Down Line' and 'Up Line' dials with 'train on line, line clear,' and 'line blocked' indicators on each. Hinged back access door very tight. Glass case lifts off, inspection/maintenance tag present affixed to inside, old pencil markings seems to indicate maintenance circa 1898. Measures 19.5 x 11 x 6 inches overall. Some cracking to enamel paint on up line dial, and overall green field. Some paint loss on lower dial.

Solid brass ring, 9 inches in diameter, on mahogany base, rotating on a heavy brass tripod with leveling screw feet. 300 turns of magnetic wire. Galvanometers of this type are independet of the earth's magnetic field and not affected by surrounding magnetic bodies. Average - good condition.

Measures approximately 2 feet long; vacuum cleaner with cord, extensions and accessories with brand name 'The Rocket' and with variation 'The Seagull', which was Tereshkova's space call sign. This ranks as one of most unusual space collectibles. Consignor reports the vacuum was on stations Salyut-4, Soyuz-17, with spacemen Grechko and Gubarev 11-1-1975 on 9-2-1975.
