WWI MIDDLE EAST THEATER PHOTO ALBUM, 1915-1916 Lot #1 (Sale Order 1 of 112) Photo album from a British officer, features approximately 160 photographs, period affixed to black paper pages. Facing pages feature handwritten description for each image. Many from Muscat, Oman and environs, Mosul, Basra, Cairo and Egypt in general, Henjam (Hengam) Island (present day Iran). Many great views including a variety of soldiery including a Russian contingent, all circa 1915-1916. A few loose images, some fading, but a remarkable record of this theater. 7.25 x 11.75 inches overall. Very good condition.

TWO AMERICAN WWI PHOTO ALBUMS Lot #9 (Sale Order 9 of 112) One consisting of mostly immediate-post war images, includes approximately 153 photos, many captioned in the photos themselves. Considerable amount showing the return voyage home aboard the USS Huntington, attributed to the 151st Field Artillery. Many great views of uniforms and insignia, war damage, captured munitions paraded and displayed in France. Also includes shots from back in the US, as well as stock photos of other ships, and an original Troop Billet ticket for the USS Leviathan (nee Vaterland of the Hamburg-Amerika Line, seized by the US in 1917 and renamed), fully stamped. Second album is smaller, consists of 26 photos, a lot of stock and photo postcards of bodies, damage, etc. Includes a shot of the wheel house of a downed German zeppelin. 'Down Line' and 'Up Line' dials with 'train on line, line clear,' and 'line blocked' indicators on each. Hinged back access door very tight. Glass case lifts off, inspection/maintenance tag present affixed to inside, old pencil markings seems to indicate maintenance circa 1898. Measures 19.5 x 11 x 6 inches overall. Some cracking to enamel paint on up line dial, and overall green field. Some paint loss on lower dial.

Includes red breeches with green stripes down legs matching the collar. Caps are model 1886-style bodies with short crowns, yellow wool band and piping. One with brass star, gilt side buttons, leather chinstrap. Woven blue silk interior, leatherette sweatband. Other with leather sweatband and black silk crown lining. Average condition, both pieces show some mothing. Collar, scattered spots, breeches likewise with scattered mothing.
