1958 was the third year for Porsche?s production of the successful 356 ?A? series cars. The T2 models as they are referred to internally and by aficionados, were built from 1958 to 1959 and ushered in some subtle changes. The dashboard was slightly redesigned and the ashtray was now and option and located under the dash making room for the optional in dash VDO clock, the Bee Hive taillights were replaced with teardrop style and the front turn signal light escutcheons were changed to a protruding style for safety and US DOT reasons. The 1958 Porsche Cabriolet featured here is finished in gleaming ruby red with a well fitted black canvass soft top. This US spec car has overriders and aftermarket stone guard headlight covers. The most unique and rare option on this cabriolet are the rare ?Rudge? wheels. The interior boasts black leather seats (Beige original as per COA) and dash top, correctly fitting German square weave carpets and an optional factory VDM wood steering wheel, Becker radio. These extras compliment the cockpit with a classy sporty look and ad to the car?s value. The engine bay and trunk area are clean and tidy. This car runs and drives as good as it looks and has recently been displayed at the prestigious Festivals of Speed event at the Ritz Carlton in Orlando, Florida. This stunning classic is also accompanied with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) from Porsche Cars of North America.
