Year1967
• Rare Targa soft top • Irish Green with black leatherette interior • Concours winning car • Factory sport seats • Factory leather wrapped steering wheels and batwing horn center • Past celebrity ownership • Original steel wheels with original paint & date coded to car • Owner states it is a matching numbers car 1967 is the first year for Porsche to introduce the new “Targa” body style. The original concept incorporated a removable folding center top section and a zip-down soft back window. With everything removed, and only the Targa roll bar exposed, the car had a sporty convertible appearance. This was initially a 2 year only option and then from 1969 through 1989 the Targa’s were redesigned with large greenhouse style back glass window. Soft window Porsches are very desirable among early 911 collectors. Owner states this Irish Green 911 is a matching numbers car and received a complete concours restoration back in 1990 and more recently underwent some cosmetic reconditioning and a mechanical service by a factory trained Porsche mechanic. This interior still has the original black leatherette sport seats, leather wrapped steering wheel and “Batwing” horn center. This Porsche comes with the original painted steel wheels, chrome hub caps mounted with Coker period correct tires. This is a very original and correct looking car. The Kartex also proves some very interesting info, the most interesting of which being that the car was originally purchased by Jay Ward of Hollywood, California. Jay Ward was the creator and producer of many famous cartoon shows including Rocky and Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, George of the Jungle, Captain Crunch, and countless others. Jay was a true car enthusiast and I find it very cool that this car was once a part of his personal collection. Beyond proving the prominence of the car’s original owner, the Kardex also proves that the engine and transmission numbers are original to the chassis. The car’s suspension is completely refurbished, the Fuchs wheels have fresh rubber and brakes are new. She is ready to run the “Tail of the Dragon”.
