Item Details
Full stock flintlock American buck and ball converted to percussion, barrel signed J.N. Hampton, approx. .48 cal., unmarked lock, 42" octagon barrel with rifle sights, measuring 57 1/2" overall. Stock has 4 silver diamonds inlet into the forend, and a 3/4" x 1/2" oval insert at the wrist for a monogram. Rifle remains in good condition overall, metal pats show a nice brown patina and an old cleaning with minor pitting at the breech and tang. Action needs work, and is not functioning, flame maple stock shows an old break and repair at the wrist using brass bar stock approximately 3 1/2" long by 1/2" wide which is inlet into the stock, and there is some losses to the wood which were filled with a putty at that time. There is also a 1 1/4" crack in the stock at the toe which has not been repaired, ram rod is missing. Est. $600-$1,200.
