Item Details
French style flintlock pistol circa 1810 to 1830 showing fine quality chiseled barrel and silver mounts and inlays probably made for the trade to the Middle East. The pistol measures 18 ½” overall with 11 ½” barrel ofapproximately .60 caliber smoothbore. The pistol was made without a ramrod which is a characteristic of arms made for Middle East as it was the custom in this area to carry a ramrod on the belt. The lock is finelychiseled in relief with stand of arms, flags and gold gilted background and also the barrel shows a nice Damascus pattern. The lock is a waterproof type of very high quality and shows a roller on the frizzenalong with a graceful gooseneck hammer. The lock is nicely engraved and fine European quality. The stock is checkered at the back and a select type walnut. The trigger guard shows a mid-eastern silver hallmark (possibly Turkish) and is nicely engraved. There is silver strap work around the areas of the butt and a silver plaque with florals engraved on the butt. The lock screw escutcheon’s are silver and also nicely
