Stevens-Pope .28 -.30 caliber single shot target rifle in very good plus to near fine original condition showing a 32” heavy octagon barrel that is marked Stevens – Pope, manufactured by the J. Stevens Arm and Tool Co., Chicopee Falls, Mass. USA. The barrel measures approximately 1 1/10” across the flats of muzzle and the muzzle is drilled for a bullet starter. The gun is numbered 4625 on the inside tang and shows double set triggers with fancy enlarged Pope type lever. The forend is mounted with a base for a palm rest which is not included and the tang is mounted with a veneer type sight. The stocks are fine quality with nice burled wood grain and show original checkering with a perch belly type target stock, rollover cheek piece and nickel plated butt plate. The barrel is mounted with later scoped blocks and the front sight is a target type in the original dovetail. The action is good and the bore is fine to near excellent. The frame is scrolled engraved in Stevens factory style. The frame retains 30% to 50% case hardening drifting to silver with some light colors. The barrel
