Item Details

Chambered in 32 WCF (.32-20), third model, round barrel and crescent butt. Front sight appears to be a very old Marbles ivory bead replacement. Original rear sight with elevator in nice shape. Original wood with honest wear and no cracks, slight slivering next to bottom tang. Good wood to metal fit, especially at the tangs and receiver. Little or no bluing remaining on the metal. Metal may have been lightly buffed a long time ago and has since been turning patina. Magazine, action and firing functions work well. Still has fully functioning dust cover. Great trigger pull. 24-1/4" barrel. All rifling visible in the bore; no rust, but some radial pitting, scratches and lead fouling. Bore would benfit from a good cleaning. Antique, letterable western gun that's 125 years old! Cody Firearms Museum records check shows the gun will letter as follows: On your model 1873, serial number 24997: Serial number application date not available; Date In: 9-13-1887; Type: Rifle; Caliber: 32; Barrel Shape: round; Trigger: Plain; Date Shipped: 9-24-1887; Order Number: 24073.

Property is open to thorough public inspection. Bidders who choose not to attend the Preview understand and acknowledge that they may not be able to inspect an item as well as if they had examined it in person. It is the Bidder's responsibility to assess condition, age, authenticity, value and other determinative factors. Bennett Auction Service shall endeavor to describe in detail each item or lot and any pertinent information about it, and shall not be held responsible for any errors or omissions in the description of the merchandise unless it is a material and intentional misrepresentation of the item or lot itself. All property is sold as is, and all sales are final. Bidder forfeits the right to instigate credit card charge backs and shall contact Bennett Auction Service directly with disputes and/or claims. Please understand that we need your purchased items removed from our warehouse so that we have room to prep another sale. TRANSFER OF FIREARMS: All Wisconsin residents that purchase non-antique firearms (as defined by the BATFE) and all nonresidents that purchase non-antique long guns and that intend to take possession of their firearms purchases at Bennett Auction Service, 700 Main Street, Prentice, Wisconsin 54556 must first successfully complete an ATF Form 4473 and must not be denied by either a NICS background check or a WI Handgun Hotline background check, as applicable. Face-to-face transfers of non-antique handguns to WI residents also require a two day waiting period before transfer; the $13 Wisconsin Handgun Hotline call-in charge will be passed along to the buyer. Alternately, non-antique firearms may be shipped to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) holder for legal transfer to the purchaser. Please provide us with a signed copy of the FFL holder's license (by postal mail or email) that will be handling the transfer and we will ship the firearm(s) to the licensee. If you require either a NICS background check or a WI Handgun Hotline background check, or if we ship your purchase(s) to another FFL holder for transfer, a $10 administrative fee will be added to your invoice. We cannot ship non-antique handguns and/or long guns directly to purchasers, nor will we ship firearms out of the United States or to California. All firearms that enter or exit our facility must be unloaded and in a locked case, as we are within 1,000 feet of a School Zone. BUYERS WHO DO NOT OR CANNOT TAKE POSSESSION OF A PURCHASED FIREARM: If a buyer is determined legally ineligible to take possession of a firearm, or if the buyer chooses not to take possession of the firearm for any other reason, the buyer is still responsible for payment in full to Bennett Auction Service for the gavel price plus all applicable buyer's premiums, taxes, and/or additional expenses. FIREARMS AND OTHER RESTRICTED/REGULATED ITEMS: The buyer is solely responsible for knowing and complying with all federal, state, and local laws that apply to their ownership and/or possession of firearms and other restricted/regulated items.
