Cal. 45 ACP. S# S800206. Singer Mfg. Co. received an educational contract to provide a complete set of jigs fixtures & all required tooling, & machinery, plus a complete set of production documentation to produce the 1911A1 pistols. The contract also required 500 pistols to be made on the delivered tooling. The contract was completed on time & 500 pistols were delivered. Singer made additional pistols in case anything went wrong but nothing went wrong. These extra pistols were unmarked & unserialed except for the slide marking. This Singer pistol is one of the 500 deliverables furnished as part of the contract. These pistols normally exhibit a well polished & blued surface w/ a slightly dull appearance. Common characteristics are short wide spur checkered hammer, finely checkered mainspring housing w/ lanyard loop, thin rounded front sight w/ rounded notch flat top rear sight, fully blued grip safety, checkered thumb safety & milled checkered trigger. 5 Inch bbl. has single "P" proof on left side, no other markings. After successfully completing 25 missions, Warner was automatically discharged from active duty. Upon arrival back in the states, Mr. Warner signed up for a bond tour, however; shortly after enlisted for 25 more bombing missions as a B-25 pilot. The war came to an end after completing 18 of the 25 missions. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: normal U.S. Army issue shoulder holster w/ matching S# "800206" marking. CONDITION: bbl. bushing has minor damage to bottom points. Mag. catch may be refinished Bore is frosted in the grooves & shows some frosting on the lands near chamber. 3 Stock screws appear original, 1 left lower replacement. Stocks are spurious Keyes Fibre stocks w/ no escutcheon rings modified by milling out reinforcing lugs & lack the characteristic Singer hand checkered pattern.
