Considered by many to be one of the greatest of all post-war road cars.

•    Regarded by many collectors and journalists as the greatest 911 ever produced•    Left-hand drive delivered new to Italy and we are informed is in ‘lightweight’ specification•    Restored in 2013 by Bale Motorsport in Germany and finished in, very rare, Emerald Green.•    Been with our vendor in Dubai since 2013. Certificate of Authenticity included •    Considered by many to be one of the greatest of all post-war road cars

The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 is regarded by many collectors and journalists as the greatest 911 ever produced. The car was manufactured as a direct result of Porsche's racing (RennSport) programme. Porsche stripped most of the weight out of the existing 911 by using thinner metal for body panels, thinner glass and removing soundproofing. Performance was also enhanced with larger rear wheel arches housing 7" wheels, a 'ducktail' rear spoiler, larger brakes and a larger fuel-injected 2,687cc engine producing 210bhp. FIA Group 4 regulations for homologation required that at least 500 examples had to be produced to exacting lightweight competition specification for road use.  Porsche eventually produced 1,580 RS examples made up of cars built to both 'Touring' specification, offering basic comfort trim and upholstery, and 'Lightweight' specification. Only 55 in total were transformed to full RSR racing guise, and they went on to dominate the 1973 European GT Championship with outright wins at the Daytona 24-hours and Targa Florio. Hence, the 911 RS legend was born and since then, its unique profile and ducktail, have become iconic in the world of classic cars.

Offered here is a left-hand drive, 2.7RS that the vendor informs us was first delivered to Italy in rare Emerald Green, the colour it wears today, and is in ‘lightweight’ configuration. The vendor also informs us the engine is original to the car but the gearbox is not. Included with this rare car is a Porsche Kardex and Certificate of Authenticity. A full restoration was carried out in Germany by Bale Motorsport and the Porsche was subsequently purchased by our vendor in 2013 and has resided in Dubai ever since. Further history about the ownership and specification of this special car is in the accompanying history file. The Carrera RS Lightweight is widely regarded as the finest road car produced by Porsche and considered by many to be one of the greatest of all post-war road cars. This well-restored RS in 'Lightweight form is sure to be equally enjoyable.
