Wonderful All-Original French "Mignonette Creche" with Original Box Room 3500/4500

Lot # 9 (Sale Order: 9 of 303)      

17" w. x 8" h. x 12" d. A light wood box is covered in lithographed paper and unfolds to form a nursery with white paper-covered wall, faux tile floor and faux windows at the back. A pair of double-arm gas lamps are arranged on the back wall and an unusual circular "table" with cut-out center fills the center of the room. There are four beautifully crafted soft metal cradles with canopy tops, painted original cream and gold, and richly fitted with lace and silk. A bisque-head governess stands attentively at the back, and two small bisque-head girls stand inside the table circle. An original blue banner "Mignonette Creche, Paris E.G." is on the back wall, and a matched pair of framed prints decorates the side walls. Near mint original unplayed with condition. For the French luxury market, circa 1890....more
