A Revolutionary War, Colonial Army "Committee of Safety" musket by the French National Armories. Barrel 44.75", steel ramrod. Lockplate and barrel marked "Charville, D-75. Stock marked "United States, STAT D-75. US markings indicatespurchased by Continental Congress early 1776. In 1776 Congress sent a representative France seejubg assistance in the form of arms and equipment. The French responded with shipments of muskets. Fake companies were set up to hide the Frenchgovernment's direct involvement. Ship logs and destinations were falsified to hide muskets shipments to American ports. A Confederate cavalry sword, marked at blade "WM Glaze Co., Columbia, S.C., 1852". Based on the U.S. model 1840, brass open guard, leather and wire grip (some leather missing), steel scabbard. William Glaze was owner of Palmetto Armory,Columbia, S.C., and furnished rifles and edged weapons to the U.S. Army and South Carolina Militia. He produced 2000 M1840 cavalry sabers and 526 light artillery sabers in 1852, all used by the Confederacy during the war. He laterjoined Thomas E.
