A rare good condition non-excavated .56 cal. Billinghurst and Requa Battery Gun Cartridge.The Billinghurst Requa battery gun held 50 cartridges in a long piano hinge clip. One 2.5" cartridge in the center was fired, setting off the rest in sequence. These guns were placed on bridges, and were used in the defense of Washington. Tape residue to casing.

The Battle of Bentonville (March 19–21, 1865) was fought in Bentonville, North Carolina, near the town of Four Oaks, as part of the Carolinas Campaign of the American Civil War. It was the last battle between the armies of Union Maj. Gen. William T. Sherman and Confederate Gen. Joseph E. Johnston. These artifacts were dug near the battlefield and include buttons, buckles, bullets, caps, knapsack hooks, backless NY (?) cuff button, eroded Burnside cartridge, knapsack hooks and remnants of CS iron snake buckle and miscellaneous gear.
