Important information--please read.
**Here are a few pointers to help your proxibid experience work better for you.** The software works and looks best if you use Google Chrome or Firefox as your browser. We recommend using a desktop/laptop during a live auction so your items update as quickly as possible. Bidding from a mobile device as the bidding ends is not recommended. The software has extended bidding. If someone bids on an item in the last seconds the closing time on that item will extend for 2 minutes. That will continue on that item until there is no activity for 2 minutes. If you are a new user or if you have a slower or unreliable internet connection, we recommend using the maximum bid feature. If you leave your maximum bid, the software will advance you as other people bid. If the bidding stops at an amount less than your maximum bid, then that is all you pay. Fahey Sales does not have access to your maximum bids. If picking up items in person, buyer is responsible for ensuring that all items on invoice have been picked up. Thank you!

4 Seat Cutter Sleigh
Carriage Type:4 Seat Cutter
Length of Carriage:104 inches (8.67 feet)
Width of Carriage:32 inches (2.67 feet)
Height of Carriage:46 inches (3.83 feet)
Front Wheels:N/A
Back Wheels:N/A
Condition Rating:Decent
Condition Notes:The original green paint is fading and chipping away on the front and back sides of the buckboard and the sides of the seats, exposing the wood underneath to deterioration. The seats are still in good condition with no holes or wear from use and storage. The fringe top has fallen down from however it was originally attached to the sleigh, if it ever was. The top is in fair condition as the fringe is coming off on some of the sides and it is dusty and dirty. There appears to be little damage to the cutters other than the original green paint has faded and chipped away.
Dating:Ca. 1880s. From my research, sleighs usually do not come with fringe tops. A fringe top like this was typically a part of 4 seat surreys. Ward Holasek did one time own a black seat surrey, but it is currently not found in Holaseks remaining carriage collection. From a picture from Ward Holaseks collection, this top does not match the surrey. Appears to be an original and historic sleigh from the late nineteenth century. It matches sleigh designs that were common in the late nineteenth century.
