Lot # 11 (Sale Order: 11 of 15)

Seliga Canoe In 1956 Wilderness Canoe Base placed an order for 4 canoes from the renowned Ely canoe builder, Joe Seliga. This is one of those canoes. It is a 17' guide style with the low profile bow & stern, heart shaped ash decks, 6 inch wide red cedar planking, fiberglass covering & s/n 564213. The canoe was originally green in color but has been restored to a brown fiberglass covering. In the mid-1970’s WCB was no longer able to afford the time, effort & resources required to maintain its Seliga fleet. In immediate need of being able to provide replacements the Seligas were sold. Canoe #564213 was purchased by then WCB director Jim Cherry. Jim restored this beautiful canoe back to its original glory. Now Jim is donating the canoe back to WCB so that it may be used as a fundraiser that will help the camp toward reaching the final goal for the Renewal campaign. On the 60th anniversary of the founding of Wilderness Canoe Base this represents a unique opportunity to hold a special piece of WCB history....more
