serial #USBP660, 30 WCF, 16" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The metal surfaces of this trapper style carbine retain 99% original blue and the checkered walnut stock rates excellent with a few light handling marks. The right side of the receiver bears the likeness of a Border Patrol badge and the left side is marked with a roundel which reads "U.S./BORDER/PATROL" over the map of the United States. Winchester 1892 Limited Series Lever Action 'Trapper' Carbine

The gun features standard high contrast sights and a decocking lever and it comes with a total of two magazines, manual and its original gray plastic case with outer cardboard sleeve. Smith & Wesson Third Model Safety Hammerless Double Action Bicycle Revolver

serial #242719, 32 S&W, 2" ribbed round barrel with a bright minty bore. This little revolver is in original blue finish and wears a pair of perfectly fitting mother-of-pearl grips with gold washed S&W medallions. The revolver is overall virtually as-new with 99% strong rich original blue finish remaining. The grips are excellent plus with no chips. The trigger retains 99% vivid original color case hardened finish. The revolver comes in its excellent original hinge top box with full end label and matching serial number in period pencil on the bottom of the box. Winchester Model 1901 Lever Action Shotgun

Lot # 1329 (Sale Order: 330 of 910)      

serial #72531, 10 ga, 32" plain barrel chocked full with a very good bore showing light frosting and pinprick pitting along its length. The barrel and magazine tube have toned to a mottled brown patina showing some oxidation staining and light pewter undertones. The frame and lever have toned to a gray patina with wear on the high edges and contact points. The intertwined W.R.A. Co. logo is still very prominent on the left side as are the Winchester proof marks on the barrel and receiver. The smooth round knob pistolgrip walnut buttstock and splinter forend panels rate about very good with the usual dings, dents and handling marks of a gun of this age. The stock is fitted with a checkered steel buttplate which has toned to a pewter patina. This gun appears to function well mechanically and was manufactured in 1905. (218071-9) {C&R}

Winchester Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle

Lot # 1330 (Sale Order: 331 of 910)      

serial #57805B, 32-20 WCF, 24" octagon barrel with a fair-poor bore showing remnants of rifling and heavy oxidation and pitting throughout. The metal surfaces are all a moderately pitted and oxidized plum brown patina with some areas that coul;d be considered "heavy". The buttstock and forend rate about good with the usual dings, dents and handling marks of a firearm of this age and there is what appears to be the letter "M" hand carved into the right side near the butt. The stock is fitted with a smooth crescent steel buttplate with brass trapdoor slide which is also a heavily oxidized mottled gray patina. This rifle is sighted with a Rocky Mountain front sight and a semi-buckhorn sporting rear sight. Overall a salty Model 1873 Winchester. (217949-1) {ANTIQUE}

The smooth walnut straightgrip buttstock and forend rate excellent as refinished with light handling marks. Standard open front and rear sporting sights are present. Marlin Model 93 Lever Action Carbine

serial #C5224, 30-30 Win., 20" barrel with a bright excellent bore. The barrel retains 90-95% original blue, the loss due to even fading with a couple areas of light staining and silvering along the muzzle. The magazine tube retains about 85% original blue, loss due to even fading with both bands toning to a gray-brown. The action retains about 85% original color case-hardened finish blending to a pleasing silver patina with an area of light staining on the right side of the frame, the colors remaining quite brilliant in areas. The hammer and loading gate retain 90-95% original blue, the loss due to light contact wear. The plain walnut buttstock and forend rate very good plus to near excellent retaining much original finish with only light handling and perhaps a little added oil. The curved steel buttplate retains about 85% original blue fading to gray with light oxidation staining and impact marks. The rear barrel band screw head has broken and is ground below the surface of the band. An overall very good 1930's era 93 carbine. (58196-4) {C&R}

Colt New Line 22 Revolver

serial #47267, 22 Long, 2 3/16" barrel with a very good bore remaining overall bright having evident rifling with scattered light pitting. The metal surfaces retain 98% bright nickel plate with a small patch of flaking along the left edge of the cylinder cut-out and a speck of light oxidation on the cylinder. The hammer spine, trigger and several of the screw heads retain brilliant Nitre blue, the remainder are toning to pewter. The smooth rosewood birdshead grips rate excellent with a few minor handling marks. The frame, barrel, cylinder and grips are numbered alike. The markings remain crisp as does the etched "COLT NEW 22" panel on the left side of the barrel. A nice second model New Line revolver. (57863-18) {ANTIQUE}

German C96 Broomhandle Semi Auto Pistol by Mauser Oberndorf

serial #172052, 30 Mauser, 5 1/2" barrel with a very good bore that shows some scattered light pitting and frosting. The metal surfaces of this prewar commercial pistol retain 85% original blue with a large area of tool marks on front of frame, scattered silvering, fading and freckling and a couple areas of light pitting. The trigger, hammer, rear sight and safety retain much of their original fire blue with some scattered freckling, silvering and a couple areas of oxidation. The ribbed grips rate very good with some added varnish, a large area of chipping at rear of each panel, a couple minor chips, scattered dings, handling marks and scratches. All visible serialized parts are matching and the pistol bears German "(Crown)/U" proof markings. A very good example of a pre-war commercial Broomhandle. (207942-93) {C&R}

German C96 Broomhandle Semi Auto Pistol by Mauser Oberndorf

serial #393423, 30 Mauser, 5 1/2" barrel with a very good bore that shows some scattered frosting and pitting but strong rifling. The metal surfaces of this wartime commercial pistol retain 80% original blue with scattered even fading, some silvering of the high edges, scattered light freckling and light oxidation staining. The rear sight, safety and trigger show generous amounts of the original blue with some scattered freckling, silvering and fading. The ribbed grips rate about very good with a large 3/4" chip on the right panel, a couple large abrasions on the bottom of the panels, some scattered minor chips, dings and handling marks. All serialized parts are matching, the pistol bears German "(Crown)/U" markings on the slide and British proofs on the underside of barrel. Winchester Model 55 Takedown Lever Action Rifle

serial #9230, 32 WS, 24" round barrel with a near very good bore that shows light pitting throughout but strong rifling. The receiver and lever are a dull gray patina with a couple scratches and scattered oxidation staining. The barrel and magazine area retain about 60% original blue with even thinning throughout, some light magazine cap removal marks on underside, scattered freckling specks and light scratches and the band has turned a dull brown patina with scattered freckling. The walnut stock rates very good plus overall showing perhaps some added oil, a minor area of chipping at toe, scattered light scratches, dings and handling marks. The rifle is equipped with a Lyman gold bead front sight, a sporting rifle rear sight, what appear to be factory sling studs and a grooved steel buttplate. U.S. Model 1917 Revolver by Colt

Lot # 1339 (Sale Order: 340 of 910)      

serial #208233 (Army No. 54277), 45 ACP / AR, 5 1/2" barrel with an excellent bore. This professionally refurbished revolver retains about 99% high polish blue with very light turn ring on the cylinder. The un-numbered smooth walnut factory grips have been lightly sanded and rate very good to excellent with light handling wear. The side plate is a replacement with a crisp Rampant Colt. The crane is also a replacement and is not correctly numbered to the gun but the lanyard loop is present. The Colt "VP" proof mark is strong but the Inspectors mark on the frame is no longer present. The butt markings are strong as is the barrel markings. Overall, a beautifully reconditioned 1917 revolver. (88142-6) {C&R}

U.S. Model 1911 Semi-Auto Pistol by Colt

Lot # 1340 (Sale Order: 341 of 910)      

serial #530271, 45 ACP, 5" Springfield Armory barrel with an excellent bore. This late or post war 1911 retains about 50% original blue with the grip frame and slide toning to brown in addition to scratches, dings, tiny impact dents around the slide take down notch, light cleaning marks and operational wear. The double diamond checkered walnut Remington UMC grips rate good overall exhibiting moderate diamond point wear, a few minor dents and scratches with the right panel rating closer to very good plus due to less wear. All parts appear correct for the period of manufacture, correct factory and military markings are present and a crisp inspection mark "[eagle] / S5" is on the left side of the frame. The pistol includes a single M.S. Little Manufacturing magazine with welded flat base and "L" on the lip. (88050-767) {C&R}

Schaefer & Werner, Boston Percussion Double Fowler

Description Update (3/15/17): Tiny Chip left upper edge of forend

12 ga, 26" matted rib damascus barrels with bright near excellent bores. The barrels have toned to a dark brown patina showing faint traces of the damascus pattern and are marked "Schaefer and Werner, Boston" on their rib. The locks are maker marked and show a simple geometric border engraving and have toned to a dark brown patina with slight traces of original case-hardened colors in the protected areas; while spartan, they are very graceful, each marked "Schaefer &_Werner, Boston". The checkered walnut straight grip stock rates excellent with tiny dings and scratches. The stock is equipped with a steel widow's peak buttplate which has toned to a brown patina; it provides a 13 3/4" length of pull. The hammers function well and a wooden ramrod is included. U.S. Model 1826 Naval Cutlass by Starr

Lot # 1343 (Sale Order: 344 of 910)      

25 1/2" curved blade with deep unstopped fuller. The blade has a silver gray patina with scattered oxidation staining, a little heavier in spots; the edges of the fuller remain crisp, the main edge of the blade shows light scuffing and a few tiny nicks and chips. The blade is marked "E.T. / U.S. / N. STARR" on the obverse ricasso and the revse ricasso is simply marked "11" or "II". The iron guard with curved square edge quillion has a dark brown-black patina with a patches of gray and scattered fine oxidation and dirt staining. The grooved wooden handle rates about very good with traces of original blak paint in the grooves and modest chipping at the collar and pommel. Included with the sword is an original steel scabbard which are not commonly encountered. The scabbard matches the color of the guard and is in good to very good condition with scattered pinprick pitting, a couple shallow dents and the iron spring keeper "fingers" are present at the throat of the scabbard. An overall very good example of the robust early cutlasses. (57957-5)

U.S. Model 1812 Cavalry Saber by Starr

Lot # 1344 (Sale Order: 345 of 910)      

34" curved non-fullered clip point blade. The blade has an overall smooth silver gray patina with scattered fine oxidation staining. The saber is Oliver Allen inspected, the obverse ricasso is marked "P / OA / N. STARR / U.S.", the reverse ricasso is unmarked but there is a small "X" stamped at the rear of the spine. The leather buffer washer shows light scuffs but remains intact. The iron hilt has an appealing brown patina with scattered fine oxidation and traces of original black finish. The reverse P-shaped guard has a disc shaped quillion and the knuckle is pierced for knot attachment, the face of the knucklebow is stamped with a "P" just ahead of the crossguard. The black leather wrapped grooved wood handle rates very good, the leather showing modest crazing particulary on the reverse side. The iron scabbard has an overall brown-black patina with scattered fine pitting and oxiadation staining and is equipped with a thin brazed drag and dual suspension rings. A very good plus example Nathan Starr 1812 cavaly saber. (57957-3)

Smith & Wesson Model 3 American Single Action Revolver

Lot # 1345 (Sale Order: 346 of 910)      

serial #14948, 44 S&W American, 8" barrel with a good plus bore that shows scattered pitting with a ring of pitting 1/2 of the way down the borebut evident rifling. The metal surfaces of this second variation American Model 3 retain 35% non-factory reapplied nickel with the balance showing gray metal beneath with freckling and light dings. The smooth walnut grips are un-numbered but rate very good showing some added oil, a loose fit, scattered dings, handling marks and scratches. Frank Wesson Fourth Type Two Trigger Rifle

Lot # 1346 (Sale Order: 347 of 910)      

serial #4167, 44 CF & 44 RF, 24 3/4" octagon barrel with a very good bore that shows scattered oxidation and pitting but strong rifling. The frame has turned a dull gray patina with a few scattered areas of light pitting, some scattered scratches and freckling and oxidation staining throughout, while the buttplate shows oxidation staining throughout with some pitting on top. The barrel shows a fading original blue finish that is turning to a dull brown patina with scattered freckling and oxidation staining. The nicely figured walnut stock rates very good with an added varnish finish, some minor chipping at toe, a repaired drying crack at bottom left of butt, a 1/4" hairline at left of upper tang, scattered flaking, dings, scratches and handling marks. There is no rear sight present but the rifle has a folding peep rear sight and globe blade front sight. There is a limiting bar present on the left side of the barrel and the hammer is marked with a patent date of April 9th, 1872 on the left side. German M16 Stahlhelm with Prussian First Foot Guard Regiment Liebkompanie Marking

Lot # 1347 (Sale Order: 348 of 910)      

This is an M16 Stahlhelm retaining remnants of its overall apfelgrun exterior paint with an overall coating of light, and some moderate, oxidation. The left side of the helmet features a hand-painted Prussian First Foot Guard insignia with the Hohenzollern crest, the rear of the helmet with a large hand-painted "L" (Liebkompanie) . The interior is similar showing perhaps a bit more oxidation with a good Eisenhuttenwerk, Schlesien "SI 66" marking on the left skirt,, the right skirt with a light "66" in black ink; there is a name penciled in on the rear skirt it is however not legible. The interior liner rates very good with light flaking and soiling, a few of the tab fingers showing some light tearing; the suspension adjustment thong is present. There are some names ink-written on two of the pads, they are not legible, the right pad showing a very neat black ink stamping "1 Garderegiment/Zu Fuss 1916". An original chinstrap is included which rates about very good, showing iron attachment bases. Really very nice helmet overall from this famous Prussian Regiment and company. Austrian M16 Stahlhelm with Reichswehr Wurttemburg Marking

Lot # 1348 (Sale Order: 349 of 910)      

This M16 Stahlhelm has a remnants of an overall feldgrau paint with the left side showing a hand-painted helmet emblem of Wurttemberg. There is no right side marking but the patina and character of the principality marking is identical with the balance of the helmet. The surface of the helmet shows overall moderate flaking and chipping to the darker gray and plum brown oxidized base metal beneath. The interior of the helmet is identical and the left skirt is stamped "W6", doubtless a partial "AW" marking from manufacturer A. Westen. The lugs do not have outer skirts, suggesting a size "66" helmet. The interior liner is the M17 style with metal circumferential base liner and chrome-tanned white pads. The pads themselves show a good deal of sweat staining, ingrained dirt, only some light drying with some of the adjustment cord holes torn-out of the tab fingers; the interior lining of the pads is no longer present. There are two steel chinstrap bases present however no chinstrap is. Overall an about very good Reichswehr-era helmet with a very good provincial insignia. (37879-440H) [Craig Brown Collection]

Austrian M16 Stahlhelm with Woven Hessian Helmet Cover

Lot # 1349 (Sale Order: 350 of 910)      

This is a German M-16 Stahlhelm with apfelgrun paint showing a good deal of flaking and light oxidation with the expected scratches and scuffs that come from field use. This is a size 66 A.Westen-manufactured helmet, the left-side marking somewhat light. The interior leather liner rates about very good showing some light drying and flaking with some ingrained soiling and sweat staining present; there is no chinstrap. The helmet features an original "Hessian" woven textile cover with leather reinforcing grommets around the lug holes. The cover attaches with small metal clips which show the beginning of some very light oxidation. The interior is stamped in black ink in two spots, one is not legible, the other reads "B.A. IV / 1918". The cover is overall very good with only some light staining from the years, it appears to be original in every respect. Overall a very nice helmet/cover combination, very seldom-encountered today.
