Lot # 1336 (Sale Order: 337 of 910)
serial #393423, 30 Mauser, 5 1/2" barrel with a very good bore that shows some scattered frosting and pitting but strong rifling. The metal surfaces of this wartime commercial pistol retain 80% original blue with scattered even fading, some silvering of the high edges, scattered light freckling and light oxidation staining. The rear sight, safety and trigger show generous amounts of the original blue with some scattered freckling, silvering and fading. The ribbed grips rate about very good with a large 3/4" chip on the right panel, a couple large abrasions on the bottom of the panels, some scattered minor chips, dings and handling marks. All serialized parts are matching, the pistol bears German "(Crown)/U" markings on the slide and British proofs on the underside of barrel. A very good example of a commercial wartime Broomhandle pistol. (207942-130) {C&R}

12 ga, 26" matted rib damascus barrels with bright near excellent bores. The barrels have toned to a dark brown patina showing faint traces of the damascus pattern and are marked "Schaefer and Werner, Boston" on their rib. The locks are maker marked and show a simple geometric border engraving and have toned to a dark brown patina with slight traces of original case-hardened colors in the protected areas; while spartan, they are very graceful, each marked "Schaefer &_Werner, Boston". The checkered walnut straight grip stock rates excellent with tiny dings and scratches. The stock is equipped with a steel widow's peak buttplate which has toned to a brown patina; it provides a 13 3/4" length of pull. The hammers function well and a wooden ramrod is included.
