The necklace shows a cable construction with sterling clasp, heishi shell beads, and polished No. 8 turquoise beads with a large No. 8 turquoise mine polished nugget showing the exceptional Spider Web Matrix that has made this stone one of the most sought after in North America. The mine was discovered by those seeking gold in circa 1925 and first mined in 1929 located in Eureka County, Nevada. The mine has been shut down and depleted since 1976 making the No. 8 turquoise very scarce. The necklace is 26"L with a 1 5/8"x1 1/8"x1 1/8" nugget.

Buffalo Bill Cody had toured France in 1889, and then had been summoned to meet with Sitting Bull on the eve of the Wounded Knee massacre, though Cody was on a diplomatic mission. He is here depicted in full color with guns a-blazing. A small article on the final page provides more context. The front cover shows the wonderfully illustrated Buffalo Bill on horse back in bright color in a graphic scene at Wounded Knee. Artwork is marked, "H. Meyer - F. Meaulle" 8 page publication showing browning and minor edge wear. Measures12"x17".

This is an original Le Petit Journal, Supplement Illustre circa October 9 1904 featuring the death of Chief Joseph. The Le Petit Journal was similar to the Harpers Weekly, but was published in wonderful color. This illustration has a very romantic depiction of the "Death of Chief Joseph", one of the "last of the redskins." with accompanying article. It is very interesting to not that the passing of the great Nez Perce Chief made the front page news in this French magazine. Believed to be the only publication showing this wonderful colored scene. The back cover shows an advertisement for "Les Jeux Du Cirque En Annam - Combat d'un tigre et d'um elephant" in excellent bright color. The piece shows browning with some edge wear, but overall a scarcely seen historic piece. Measures 12.25"x17 5/8".

This lot features a prized H&R model 922 2 1/2" barrel revolver. Manufacture of the model 922 started in in 1927 and was offered with a 2.5", 4" and 6" barrel. Since then...more the popular 4 1/2" and 2 1/2" versions have been coveted by gun owners and collectors. This revolver is marked H&R 922 and the serial number includes the prefix P meaning it was built post 1940 when the company began adding letters to denote year manufactured. The revolver is very clean but does show holster wear on the cylinders. The revolver has its original issued grips. Although the firm of Allen & Wheelock was only in business for eight years - from 1857 to 1...more864 - it produced a surprisingly large variety of firearms. This side hammer revolver was among one of the more striking designs. Due to the companies short life span and unique firearms they are highly collectible. Currently the piece shows wear correct for its estimated age, with minor surface pitting. The revolver does not appear to function, but looks to only be missing the spring for the hammer catch. This is an exceptional example of an original authentic Beaver Tail or Beaver Back Dag Knife from the Plains Native American Indians. The piece dates to the early to mid 19th century and is attributed to manufacturer Jukes Coulson & Co. The knife is not marked, but shows the correct craftsmanship and styling to be by the London Arms company, Jukes Coulson & Co. Provenance: From the extensive Native American & Tribal Arts collection of Harada Fumihiko and Alin Avila. It was purchased from the 6/6/2014 Binoche Auction (represented as such). The immensely unique knife shows the typical wide tapering rounded dagger-shaped blade with double edge with an incredible Steer/Cow horn grips having silver spot inlay framing the edge, a silver Steer head, accent, and fleur de lis along both sides. One of the finest examples of an early period dag knife available for sale. Overall length 13.5”L x 2.5”W and ½” to 9/16” thick. Silver has been modernly polished. Excellent original early piece.

Seminole Chief Painting by Seth Eastman c1840-1850

This is an exceptional original work of art by renowned artist, Seth Eastman (American, 1808-1875). Dated to circa 1840-1850. The piece shows the side profile of a Sioux Native American Indian Chief in full headdress done with gouache & watercolor on brown paper. The piece is signed lower left in artist monogram, "I/I" and was previously authenticated by Mathews Galleries (no paperwork). This excellent piece is in an early gilt wood oval frame with glass protection. Seth Eastman was an 1829 West Point Graduate and served at Fort Snelling, Minnesota and Later during the Seminole Wars in Florida. Previously Eastman was exclusively concerned with landscapes, but with the presence of Florida Indians was prompted to experiment with a new subject matter, that of painting the Native American Indians. This started what would be the pinnacle of his artistic achievements. This is a very scarce piece as most original Eastman paintings are owned by the Federal Government. The most notable Seth Eastman painting to come up to auction sold at the Sotheby's New York May 5, 1998 for $937,500 with another piece being sold in 2012 by Phoebus Auction Gallery with an estimate of $250,000 to $400,000. Wonderful original piece. Frame measures 19.25"W x 23"H with the visible art area being 9.25"W x 13 3/8" including the 3" oval mat.

The set is circa 1890-1900 and shows a wonderfully manufactured piece of early glass trade seed beads on an Indian tanned hide with trade calico clothe lining. The beadwork has a chalk white background with three fleur de lis pictorial symbols in semi-transparent rose, pea green, sky blue, and semi-transparent. The top and bottom edge shows a butterscotch yellow or greasy yellow fancy edge with sky blue, dark blue, rose, and corn greasy yellow beaded tepee design. The cuffs show excellent quality and good condition for their age with only slight bead loss. All sinew and trade thread sewn. Provenance: Property of a large Native American Indian Minnesota Collection, purchased from the Cowans Auction 9/11/2015 (where it was found to be authentic). Each cuff measures 6 5/8"H x 6"W. Excellent early authentic cuffs.

Hunkpapa Sioux Wakinyan Tanka Copper Gorget 18th-

This is an exceptional early authentic Hunkpapa Sioux Native American Indian copper gorget chest decoration from the late 18th to early 19th century. The piece shows rocker and hand engravings with the early Wakinyan Tanka “The Great Thunderbird (or Thunderer)”. The piece shows a solid copper construction with the hand engraved Wakinyan Thunderbird pictorial symbol along the center with a scalloped lower edge having three oval accents all with a rocker engraved edge. The piece would have been worn around the neck by a well-respected Warrior or Chief as a sign of power. In ancient Hunkpapa pictorial language the Wakinyan (wah-keen-yahn) images represents in English the Thunderer or Thunderbird, a powerful sky spirit. The Thunderer showed the form of a great bird, with the wings that make the sound of thunder and eyes that shoot lighting and was the mortal enemy of the horned serpent Unktehi. Provenance: From a large Native American & Old West antique private collection in Billings, Montana. Condition: The piece appears to have been moderately wiped, taking away most the original patina, with some remaining signs of this early patina showing. Overall solid condition. Measures 9”x6”.

The cross has a rocker engraved outer edge and is on a sinew necklace with various early Hudson Bay Venetian wound glass yellow Vaseline trade beads. The silver cross has been moderately wiped (or cleaned) with some original patina remaining. The cross is 2.5”x4 7/8”. The necklace is 23.5” in circumference.
