Confederate D-Handle Bowie Knife

Lot # 754 (Sale Order: 754 of 1100)

_This is a rather large and well-made D-handle Bowie knife. The nearly spear-point-shaped blade is 12 1/4" overall length and roughly 2 1/4" wide at its widest point, it flares heavily at the ricasso. Affixed at the flare is a nice wide metal guard which curves slightly forward at its top, the guard then tapering back along its curve toward the riveted tang. There are two walnut or oak scales affixed to the full tang blade with three iron rivets. The wood has shrunken slightly and shows some drying cracks from the years, as well as some rust staining leaching in from the rivets. Quality-made, blade and tang are one-peace, the full tang exposed through the pommel, neatly and heavily riveted making for a very very rugged knife overall. (37645-22C)

Custom Walther G 41 Sporting Rifle

Lot # 769 (Sale Order: 769 of 1100)

Description Update (5/30/17): Caliber is 30-06

serial #1001, 30-06, 24" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This veteran G 41 has been heavily modified both internally and externally and made into a sporting rifle. The barrel retains perhaps 15% original dark gray blue, the sight block of the receiver is now gray as is the bottom metal, showing the early stages of polishing. The top cover and bolt are primarily a dull mottled gray, the bolt retaining perhaps 10% original blue. The nosecap has been modified and is now in-the-white and the rear sight has been moved forward. There is a custom aluminum triggerguard which has been fitted, the trigger showing some light oxidation. In addition to the original open sights, there has been a custom aluminum quick-detach scope ring set machined. The ring set fits the left-side-of-receiver scope base and mounts a Karl Zeiss Zielvier telescopic sight with thick European post and crosshair reticle. The scope itself is an overall gray and lightly oxidized brown patina but has crisp clear optics. The rifle has been stocked in what appears to be English walnut. The stock is classic style but has a fairly high comb and has a rounded left-side cheekpiece and has numerous minor dings and handling marks but rates very good plus overall. The length of pull to the 1/2" Pachmayr rifle pad is 13 3/4". An interesting conversion overall that somebody certainly spent a lot of time on, it may well be an interesting candidate for the November woods. (37519-23) {MODERN}

Parker Brothers Grade 1 Underlifter Double Hammergun

Lot # 770 (Sale Order: 770 of 1100)

serial #19879, 12 ga., 27 1/2" professionally shortened plain twist barrels, un-choked, with a very good bores which show the remnants of some very light pitting, the right tube with a minor ding which was partially raised. The barrels retain about 98% professional re-blacking and likely were 28", the inner surfaces of each still touching at the crown. The frame and lockplates as well as the triggerguard have a similar amount of good quality rust blue, the patent dates on the triggerplate are now very light. The frame is completely unembellished however the lockplates have light scroll and borderline filigree added, Grade 2-style. The checkered round knob pistolgrip buttstock rates very good as neatly refinished many years ago with the beginnings of small cracks at the rear of each lockplate, the splinter forend is similarly refinished as well. The rebounding locks seem to work properly and the barrels seem to lock up well with the slightest whisker of light seen between the standing breech and the breech faces. A very attractive antique Parker underlifter overall that may have some life left in it yet. (38115-2) {ANTIQUE}

New Hampshire Percussion Buggy Rifle by Hilliard

Lot # 773 (Sale Order: 773 of 1100)

serial #1716, About .36 cal, 20 3/4" octagon barrel with a heavily oxidized bore. The barrel is an overall dark brown patina with pewter undertones and shows overall light pitting, the left side is marked "DH Hilliard/Cornish/NH" and was turned for a starter which is no longer present. There is a simple later Lyman front bead in place, the bead is gone and a sporting rear of simple sheet-metal. The underside of the barrel shows three iron ramrod thimbles and both hammer and trigger are a deep plum brown color. The gun appears to have been nicely restocked at some point in a nice piece of cherry. The long iron tang shows nice restored plum while the brass triggerguard with grip arch, butt and toeplates are a dull goldenrod patina. The pendulum shaped German silver patchbox is rather nice and the left side of the stock shows an inlaid German silver hare on the semi-rounded cheekpiece. Currently the hammer will not hold "on cock" but this could easily be rectified by a qualified gunsmith. A contemporary ramrod is included. Really a rather nice little buggy rifle from this respected New Hampshire maker, with a lovely stocking job by someone. (38158-25) {ANTIQUE}
