Ford Thunderbird 1961

Lot # 101 (Sale Order: 1 of 100)

This first year of production “Cigar Bird” has just undergone a major overhaul. Chosen in the States for its rust free condition and its mechanical prowess. Once here the vendor spent the better part of 10 thousand pounds having the body professionally painted and all exterior chrome mouldings replaced along with the locks. The interior was completely “bespoke” retrimed, no vinyl here just leather throughout, door cards, dash board the lot. New carpets were fitted and to finish the look a set of multi spoke chrome wheels were bolted on. Now freshly MOT’d and will be supplied with an age related UK registration, this near show quality car will make its new owner very very proud.

Ford Cortina MK2 1300 Delux “Restoration Project” 1967

Lot # 104 (Sale Order: 4 of 100)

Having sat in a garage un-used since 1980 ANO677F is indeed a rare find. Purchased originally when apx 18mths old for the two daughters of the family to learn to drive in, neither parent could drive, then used for family holidays. Once the daughters left home it was parked and stayed there until we collected it after unfortunately both parents have passed away. With only 58265 miles on the clock, this has to be one of the lowest mileage original MK2’s on the market today. Obviously it will need restoration. We have however had the engine running on its own fuel supply and released the brakes to allow it to be rolled (Hand brake works). A one off opportunity to own a bit of “Blue Oval” history. LOG BOOK IN HAND along with original bill of sale, hand book and old mot’s!!

Jaguar XJ12 One Owner 1986

Lot # 105 (Sale Order: 5 of 100)

Yes “One owner from new” and owned by the man that bought us rear window louvres and shiny plastic hub caps, things that were the absolute “must have” back in the 70’s. Just about every one over 40 would have owned an “Autoplas” product at some point. Being an ardent lover of Jaguar cars the owner of this one, now sadly passed away, would buy a jag, keep it until he wanted another or a new model XJ came out then buy that, he never sold the old ones, just parked them up in his garages! This is what happened to this lovely XJ12 Saloon, it was driven into the garage 22 odd years ago and that was where it stayed until now. It was like a time warp, exactly as he left it! With only 64,890 miles on the clock not much will be worn out and the engine runs. The body work has survived well with very little rust just various “storage marks” Inside, apart from the drivers foot well that has its original floor mat the other 3 foot wells have expensive and very thick shag pile over mats, these have been there from new so you can imagine what the carpets are like underneath, new! The leather needs no more than a deep clean and feed. The electric windows are temperamental, sticky switches probably. In the boot is the original Jaguar tool kit in its box plus the jack and original owners book, there is even a Jaguar map showing where Jaguar dealers are round the country (For our younger visitors, a map is like a fold out Sat Nav. Sorry couldn’t resist). This is a superb opportunity for someone, yes it needs recommissioning but it’s a One Owner low mileage 1986 5.3 V12 XJ12 and even better, it still has its “Auto-plas” rear window louvre in place!!

Mercedes 220S “Rolling Restoration”1960

Lot # 106 (Sale Order: 6 of 100)

A South African import showing 60,000 miles good body and paintwork from an older restoration with a few areas that could now do with some attention. Unfortunately the bonnet while open was caught in the wind, this has resulted in some minor damage to the l/h top corner and edge of the bonnet and front wing, repairable but worth the mention. Exterior chrome work is bright and looks original. The interior is in good condition. The 2.2 petrol engine runs well (The ignition switch is backed up by a hidden switch to operate), gearbox selects smoothly, the clutch and breaks work but we cannot drive to confirm further, see note below. NOTE: The fuel tank needs replacement and as a TEMPORARY measure a plastic tank has been rigged up in the boot to allow the car to be run and loaded THIS IS NOT SAFE TO BE DRIVEN LIKE THIS AND AS SUCH THE CAR MUST BE RECOVERED NOT DRIVEN AWAY.

Jaguar S-Type 3.4 Manual 1965

Lot # 108 (Sale Order: 8 of 100)

First registered in January 1965 this nice S Type has the desirable manual gearbox, giving its 3.4 liter engine a more “sprightly” performance over the automatic gearbox versions. Last MOT,d in 2016 this car has been unused since, having only covered a mere 2300 miles according to its MOT history, since back in 2006. The MOT history also shows that the all-important welding repairs have been carried out over the years. Now the car is a nice solid example. Paintwork, while it appears to of been refreshed at some point, will now require attention , but still polishes nicely and more than good enough if you want a car you can actually drive in our weather. Interior is nice throughout. Leather is very good as is the wood on the dash and door capping’s.There is a period Motorola radio in place. Carpets are very nice and have obviously been replaced at some time. Mechanically the engine starts easily and  oil pressure is good. Gearbox and general transmission are good as are the electrics of the car (fuel gauge is reading full but unless the tank is, this could be incorrect).

Ferrari 308 GTB “Dry Sump” 1980

Lot # 109 (Sale Order: 9 of 100)

Being every blue blooded males “Pin Up” car in the 80’s, Ferrari’s sublime 308GTB has to be the most recognisable shaped car they produced. This particular car is in beautiful condition with a low mileage of just a shade over 59,000 recorded miles. According to the records only 365 Right Hand Drive Carburettor cars were made, of which 154 were the “Fibre glass” cars, so this is one of only 211 produced. Around 2001 the car went into storage and has been in the hands of collectors ever since. The vendor purchased it and had a very well thought of Ferrari Specialist company completely recommission the car from standing unused for so long. They were given “Carte Blanche” to carry out whatever work they considered necessary amongst other things all the belts were changed along with all service items and the brake system was renewed, resulting in a bill for just under £10,000. This invoice for this work is in with the extensive history file documenting the cars life, including old MOT certificates dating back to its first one carried out in 1984. Now freshly MOT’d so ready to go, this piece of Automotive Art represents a rare opportunity to own the Ferrari you always promised yourself and comes complete with a 6 digit “308” number plate.

Toyota MR2 2.0 GTi-16 1991

Lot # 113 (Sale Order: 13 of 100)

The first of the two MR2 Toyotas entered by the same vendor and again a long term owned car. This one is a UK model complete with the rare option sun roof. While maintained mechanically to the same level as the other, this one does not benefit from a £4,000 respray and as such the lacquer has gone on some of the top surfaces. So while driving very well, with its shorter MOT, 27th July but having only travelled 158 miles since last MOT’d, the vendor is offering this one as needing light restoration.

Considering this car has not been restored the condition of this 23 year old Mercedes Sports car is superb. Lotus Elan Series 2 1964

Lot # 119 (Sale Order: 19 of 100)

This very rare and desirable 1964 “S2 Elan” has lived most of its life in sunnier climes and has recently under gone some major recomissioning by a previous owner. During this process he met met the vendor that was selling a Manx Norton motorcycle, a deal was struck and the car became the vendors. He had been told that part of the work carried out was a rebuilt engine, but having had an S2 before he was not happy with the performance, so shipped it to the UK where a Lotus specialist stripped it revise the cylinder head, fitted a performance cam shaft and over hauled the cooling system “Now” the car is performing as it should.
As you can see by the pictures, much work has taken place and many new parts fitted. Things like the headlamps actuators have been replaced by new ones, the inside trim has been upgraded by specialist firm, dynamo and control box are new and set to give 30amps,rev counterand speedo were overhauled in UK as well.
The car does run and drive but does still need further recomissioning but as the owner says ” This car is an early S2 is also the lightest of Elans ( 620 kg)and the most demanded for classic and historic rallies hill climb and circuits” and he is not wrong.
While needing some further work and detailing, this car represents an excellent investment for the next owner. Will be supplied with French papers so will require registration in any other country at the buyers expence.

Now we can waffle on about the extremes that were gone to to get better than factory panel fit, how where ever possible only genuine replacement parts have been used, even the new tyres were chosen to replicate the originals, as it happens the spare wheel is shod with an original date stamped 1971 tyre! How the new carpets and headlining were specially ordered through BMW and the seats were retrimed to factory standard. But really you need to study this car with your own eyes to appreciate the level of work and the commitment to originality that has taken place. This car is a credit to its owner and would not look out of place in any collection, private or public.

Vespa Piaggio 150cc Scooter with Side Car Combo.

Lot # 125 (Sale Order: 25 of 100)

A rare sight indeed is a Vespa with a side car and takes you back to simpler days when once you got married and had kids, you did not rush out and buy a car, you bolted the extra seats required onto your motor bike or scooter! Now very much in vogue again this good condition 150cc example is currently in the process of being road registered here in the UK so will be supplied with an age related registration but this is likely to happen post auction.
