Alfa Romeo Spider 2000

Lot # 101 (Sale Order: 1 of 38)

The Italian co-star Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft had in the 1967 film The Graduate, a sleek red Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider, brought the great marque to the attention of millions who had never heard the name before. It also set a new expectation for stylish, fun open-top driving, with a level of sophistication that artfully slotted in somewhere between Fiat and Ferrari.Through a production run from 1966 until 1994, the evergreen Alfa Spider defined open air sporty motoring for decades. Steady development kept the Spider current through cycles of US emissions and safety requirements and Alfa Romeo found better ways to meet those demands as the years went on. A major advance was the arrival of Bosch electronic fuel injection in 1982, which allowed a measure of performance to return while meeting ever more stringent regulations. The exceptionally well-presented condition of the example on offer here today is commensurate to its extremely low mileage, and every single MoT since 1994 has been retained by its fastidious owners. Even its factory detachable hard-top has been kept in near-perfect condition as has its soft-top including the rear plastic window. The car has recently undergone a major service by an Alfa-Romeo specialist with works including removing a replacing the carburettor rubber mount spacer, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, clutch flexible hose and a general check and top up for fluids.Provided with the cars original owners manual, this desirable specification Alfa-Romeo Spider is described to be in near-excellent condition throughout and ready to be enjoyed by its new owner.View 1989 Alfa-Romeo Spider 2000 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1989-alfa-romeo-spider-2000' for further details.

Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon

Lot # 102 (Sale Order: 2 of 38)

The last Bentley to be built on a separate chassis, in 1962, saw the introduction of the Bentley S3 factory bodied standard steel saloon and at first glance it would appear that the all new S3 was merely an S2 with different headlamps. The introduction of the twin headlamps was clearly the most obvious change but the differences did not end there.Further changes included the introduction of smaller bumper overriders and the repositioning of the front indicators and side lamps into one single unit on the front wing resulting in an arguably more attractive appearance. The S3s interior now had individual front seats in place of the split bench seat found in the earlier S types; some, like this one, had air conditioning, electric windows and front seat belts. Mechanically speaking the S3 was the same as the S2 with a 6230cc Rolls-Royce V8 engine and automatic gearbox but this model was fitted with larger carburettors, improved power steering to aid smoother movement at parking speed and a Lucas vacuum-advance distributor to aid fuel consumption making it almost identical in mechanical specification to the S3 Continental that was being produced at the same time.Delivered in 1963, this Bentley S3 is finished in the highly attractive colour combination of Sterling Silver with a Wine Red Leather interior. Offered with a UK V5 document, this is a good opportunity for the Bentley enthusiast and we feel excellent value in the current market.View 1963 Bentley S3 Standard Steel Saloon on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1963-bentley-s3-standard-steel-saloon-2' for further details.

Land Rover Series II

Lot # 103 (Sale Order: 3 of 38)

Some ten years after the original Land Rovers introduction, it was felt that the time had come to update the Land Rovers somewhat primitive slab-sided styling. The result was the Series II, which featured the more rounded sides that continue to characterise the Land Rover today. Introduced in 1958, the Series II was available with either the 2,286cc petrol engine or the newly developed 2,052cc diesel first seen in 1956 on what became known retrospectively as the Series I. By this time the original permanent four-wheel drive freewheel transmission had been superseded by the more conventional selectable two- or four-wheel drive arrangement, with a set of low ratios available if required with the latter option selected. For the Series IIA the diesel engine was enlarged to 2,286cc and a new 12-seater model introduced on the longer (109) wheelbase chassis.Ruggedly built and simple in construction, the Land Rover proved capable of surviving in countries where conditions were primitive to say the least, a virtue that helped contribute to its worldwide acceptance. Indeed, it is estimated that two-thirds of all Land Rovers ever produced are still in existence today. In the course of more than 60 years in production the supremely versatile Land Rover has proved itself adaptable to innumerable civilian and military roles, and when the company announced that it would end production of the traditional Defender model in December 2015, the news was greeted with dismay. Meanwhile, owners of existing Land Rovers are able to reflect on the fact that they own what is surely an appreciating asset. This delightful Series II Land Rover is offered in an all-round good condition and has been well maintained by its current owner following an extensive earlier restoration. Presented in blue with a black interior, this Land Rover has an interesting history having featured in the hit ITV show Heartbeat, as well as several magazines and calendars. For the true TV soap fan, the car is even signed by the cast! This car was subsequently part of the Beaulieu Motor Museum collection and the current vendor informs us that it is regularly sought after for motor shoots. The car comes with a large history file detailing work carried out and information regarding the various features in which it has starred. A lovely Series II that is ready to be put to work on the classic car circuit or enjoyed in private.View 1967 Land Rover Series II on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1967-land-rover-series-ii' for further details.

Lancia Fulvia 1.3

Lot # 106 (Sale Order: 6 of 38)

The Lancia Fulvia does not need much introduction for the motorsport interested person. Also known as the Tipo 818 it was Lancia´s competition car of choice during the late 1960s and early 1970s. It won the World Rallye Championship in 1972 when it was replaced by the incredible Stratos. Introduced at the Geneva Car show in 1963, it remained in production an amazing 13 years with the end of production in 1976. During this time it was updated many times and it came in three basic versions from the start. The Berlina or Saloon, the Coupe and the Sport. The Coupe is the car we have in the auction today and the Sport was the Zagato version of this model.First registered on the 26th March 1975, this car was delivered to a Barbara Ashe of Amersham. The car passed through several owners before arriving in the hands of Peter Snelling of Wellingborough who undertook a bare-metal restoration of the car between 1995/1996. He would own the car for a total of 14 years before it changed hands again and in 2014, Stephen Allorby-Brigss purchased the car and started a renewed restoration which has been largely finished by the current vendor. The car is said to be showing circa 47,000 kilometres on the odometer and running well. There is an extensive list of recent work carried out in the history file and the car is ready to use or could be given some finishing touches to make it an excellent example. The car comes with a fresh MOT and UK V5C.View 1975 Lancia Fulvia 1.3 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1975-lancia-fulvia-1-3-2' for further details.

Porsche 356B Coupe

Lot # 107 (Sale Order: 7 of 38)

The 356B, produced from 1960 through 1963, represents the mid-point in this designs progression. In what is known as T5 form, the B introduced new front and rear sheet-metal, while retaining the curved front trunk lid and rounded fenders of the 356A series. The B also added some features demanded by American customers, such as raised front and rear bumpers with over-riders to better protect the body from parking mishaps. The headlamps were raised, a larger hood handle added, and front vent windows appeared in the doors. Mechanically, the gearbox and drum brakes were upgraded. A new steering wheel and column refreshed the interior, along with redesigned rear seats. In the late 1980s, the Porsche 356 was finding new favour with collectors who increasingly performed high-end restorations and trailered their cars from show field to show field. But Emory Motorsports of Oregon revived the Porsche hot-rod scene by slapping on fat wheels, hot engines and lots of period rally parts to then go out drive their cars hard. They were nicknamed Outlaws as they flew in the face of the mainstream 356 community and their cars were far from the pampered concourse queens that dominated the scene. Since that time, the outlaw name stuck and has become synonymous with hot 356 Porsches of all types.Completed at Porsche in 1961 as a B-model, this 356 Coupe was finished in Aetna Blue. This attractive 356 B hot rod is a fabulous example of this now classic outlaw style. It is finished in a non-standard metallic green, with subtle Outlaw works carried out by previous US owners, before import to the U.K by the current owner from the U.S dry state of Nevada. Powering the car is the desirable Super 90 that was subject to a rebuild in 2011.To complete the Outlaw look, bumpers have been removed and original seats have been replaced with 911 RS Replica bucket seats. The originals remain with the car, so any new owner could, if they wish, return the car to a more standard 356B specification. The vehicle comes complete with a history file dating from 2011 and a current UK V5 registration document.View 1961 Porsche 356B Coupe on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1961-porsche-356b-coupe' for further details.

March 722 Formula 1

Lot # 108 (Sale Order: 8 of 38)

Between 1975 and 1985 the 1600cc single seater class in British Hill climbing was particularly competitive; top line competitors, such as Mario Andretti used the opportunity as a stepping stone to the more competitive and more powerful single seater class. Most entrants used Formula 2 and Formula 3 race prepared cars of the era with a Ford derived BDA or FVC engine mated to a Hewland gearbox. Some were successful, but perhaps none more so than the March 722.March Engineering, British manufacturer and motor car constructor began operation in 1969 by its four founders, Robin Herd, Max Mosley, Graham Coaker and Alan Rees. The name March was made by using initials from each founders first or last names. Each of these individuals had different roles in the team, Herd the designer of both the chassis and body, Rees was the teams manager, Coaker oversaw production, and Mosley handled the commercial side of the operation. Teamed together the company was able to reach huge success in a wide range of classes throughout the 1970s owed greatly to the experience the four men had in their respective roles. The main purpose for the company was to provide chassis for customers racing in all categories, they produced a Formula Three car in 1969 and in 1970 they produced the 701, prepared for Formula One which was offered to clients. The 1970 Formula one season saw Jackie Stewart win the Spanish Grand Prix at Jarama beating Bruce McLaren to the flag, ultimately giving March there first ever Formula one win, with a strong third placing for March works driver Mario Andretti backing up their race weekend success. In later years March became one of the most successful teams in a wide range of classes. Their cars were campaigned in Formula 2, Formula 3, Ford 1600 and CanAm. Chris Amon, Niki Lauda, and Ronnie Peterson were just a few notable drivers to have raced with March Engineering. In 1972 March introduced the 722 for the Formula Atlantic Series for the European market, and 72B for the Formula B series in the United States. This 1972 March 722 on offer today, chassis 41, engine number 195 is described by the owner to be in good condition and is supplied with a 1600cc engine, comes with its all-important FIA documents and resembles a fantastic opportunity to campaign in the Formula 2 HSCC Championship. Lotus 23B

Lot # 109 (Sale Order: 9 of 38)

Introduced at the 1962 Racing Car Show, the 23 was arguably the most successful sports racer ever to wear a Lotus badge. Another typically brilliant Colin Chapman design, the nominal two-seater owed much to its 20 / 22 Formula Junior siblings. Based around a multi-tubular spaceframe chassis, the main longitudinal members of which acted as oil / water conduits between the nose-located radiators and mid-mounted engine, the newcomer was equipped with all-round independent suspension, front / rear anti-roll bars and four-wheel disc brakes.Deceptively simple yet aerodynamically sound, its lightweight bodywork housed a sparse cockpit featuring the semi-recumbent driving position then coming into vogue. While, the earliest cars were powered by a 1097cc Cosworth-Ford engine allied to a Renault four-speed gearbox, a whole host of drivetrain combinations subsequently found their way under the 23s fibreglass skin. Coming on stream for the 1963 season, the 23B featured a strengthened spaceframe and uprated running gear. Typically specified with the famous Lotus-Ford 1558cc Twin Cam engine mated to a Hewland five-speed box, it proved a real giant killer.Though, ever since the May 1962 Nurburgring 1000km when Jim Clark had decimated Ferrari 246SP, Porsche 718 WRS and Aston Martin DBR1 opposition before blacking out due to an exhaust leak, the world had been only too aware of the models potential. A winner at club, national and international levels of circuit racing on both sides of the Atlantic and as far afield as South Africa and Australia, the Lotus was also a familiar sight in various European Hillclimb Championships. Attracting thirty orders almost as soon as it was announced, total 23 / 23B production is thought to have amounted to 131 cars. The Lotus 23B offered today is finished in the iconic Lotus colours of Green and Gold. It was imported by the current vendor to France in the 2000s after some years of race history in the United States.Currently fitted with a Ford Twin-Cam 1600 engine and Hewland five-speed gearbox, the 23B has reportedly done just 4 races since refurbishment of both the gearbox and engine. With bills on file the gearbox was overhauled by Tony Thompson in 2007 and the Engine by George racing fabrication in 2008.With the Lotus having previous race history in the Masters Historic race series, entry for competitive historic racing is well within reach for the new owner. The car comes complete with FIA Historic Technical Passport.View 1963 Lotus 23B on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1963-lotus-23b' for further details.
Introduced at the 1962 Racing Car Show, the 23 was arguably the most successful sports racer ever to wear a Lotus badge. Another typically brilliant Colin Chapman design,...more the nominal two-seater owed much to its 20 / 22 Formula Junior siblings. Porsche 914

Lot # 110 (Sale Order: 10 of 38)

Porsches strong historical links with Volkswagen were re-affirmed in 1969 with the launch of the Porsche-designed 914, a mid-engined, Targa-top sports car to be assembled by Karmann of Osnabr¼ck. At the time Volkswagen needed a new car to replace the ageing Karmann-Ghia while Porsche was looking for another option to add to its line-up. First seen at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the 914/4 used the 1,679cc, four-cylinder. 914s employed all-independent suspension “ a mixture of 911 and VW parts “ to which four-wheel disc brakes and a five-speed gearbox were married. The 914 always had reputation for excellent handling, this highly original example is no exception. Having never been restored, this all original panel matching numbers 914 comes from the dry states of California where it has remained unmolested since 1971.Complete with its COA, and with a recent MoT and fluid and filter change you would struggle to find a more original 914.View 1971 Porsche 914 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1971-porsche-914' for further details.

Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite

Lot # 111 (Sale Order: 11 of 38)

Intended to make sports car motoring more affordable, the Donald Healey-designed Sprite entered production at MGs Abingdon factory in March 1958. The new car was officially introduced a few months later in Monte Carlo, just prior to the Monte Carlo Rally, underlining this brand new cars sporting intentions. Its unitary construction body shell featured a distinctive, rearward-hinging, combined bonnet and wings, which was topped by two frog eye headlamps, thus ensuring instant recognition and the now familiar nickname.Powered initially by the Austin A35s 948cc A-Series engine, the Sprite used independent front suspension and rack-and-pinion steering, ensuring great roadholding. Equipped with twin SU carburetors, the engine produced 43bhp, which was good enough for a top speed of around 86mph. Despite a Spartan equipment level “ even the front bumper was listed as an extra! “ the Frog Eye sold well, which perhaps was unsurprising as there was nothing competing with it either on price or performance. This delightful frogeye was originally delivered to the west coast of America, a forward opening steel bonnet car, and is equipped with all round disc brakes. Complete with roof, side screens and tonneau, this Sprite should be a fun companion on the backroads for a relatively modest investment.View 1959 Austin Healey Frogeye Sprite on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1959-austin-healey-frogeye-sprite' for further details.

MG TC

Lot # 112 (Sale Order: 12 of 38)

The right-hand drive TC Midget appeared in 1946, and was almost identical in appearance to the pre-war Types TA and TB. These MGs had many endearing features, including a slab fuel tank, 19-inch diameter wire wheels, folding windshields and octagonal dashboard instruments. Sales got a great lift when a Life Magazine photographer shot one being driven underneath a big lumber carrier on a Los Angeles street. Many soon found their way into amateur racing, and almost every one of the legendary American sports car champions of the post-war era began their careers in a TC. The MG TC on offer today is an original UK car, which was exported to Vancouver Island and then repatriated back to the UK where it was the subject of a restoration. Bills on file total over 23,000 GBP for the work. Most recently the car has been fitted with a new Pickering hood, along with side screens and tonneau covers and is running on Dunlop tyres with new tubes. For those collectors looking for a well-presented T-Series MG, capable of participating in driving events and Concours shows alike, this outstanding example is worthy of serious consideration.View 1947 MG TC on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1947-mg-tc-2' for further details.

Maserati Karif

Lot # 113 (Sale Order: 13 of 38)

The Maserati Karif was designed to be luxurious, sporty and agile enough to allow the driver to feel like a racing driver again, or for the first time. At the cars unveiling, Alejandro de Tomaso declared a very limited production run of 250 examples. In a throwback to Maseratis earlier naming practices for two-seater GTs, the car was named after the wind called Karif, which blows South West across the Gulf of Aden at Berbera, Somalia. The Karif was built on the same shortened chassis as the Zagato-bodied Maserati Spyder model, adding a fixed notchback coup© roof. It used the most powerful Maserati Biturbo engine: the AM473, a 2.8-litre 90° V6 engine with 3 valves per cylinder, producing 285bhp at 5,500rpm. According to Maserati the Karif could reach 60mph from a standstill in 4.8 seconds, and achieve a top speed of over 158mph. Maserati Karifs are exceptionally rare; only 250 were ever built, with only twenty-five in right drive form and only 7 remaining in existence. This car, chassis number 9, has covered a mere 38,500 miles from new, and was rustproofed from new by Dinol-Protectol. The Karif has spent all of its recent history passing through two significant collections of Ferrari and Maseratis in the south coast of England, during which time is has benefitted from refurbished brake callipers, remanufactured wheels, and new tyres. Most recently it has received a new clutch at the cost of over 2000 by Maserati specialists, along with a cam belt and water pump. MoTd until June 2018 and driving as well as it looks.Offered with a service book, history file, and current MoT, the Karif offers Ferrari beating performance, while being discreet in style.View 1989 Maserati Karif on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1989-maserati-karif-2' for further details.

Jaguar XK120 Roadster

Lot # 114 (Sale Order: 14 of 38)

It was at the 1948 London Motor Show that Jaguar threw the sports car world into turmoil with its stunning XK120. Here was a car with incredible style and looks, a powerful six cylinder engine installed in an outstanding chassis, and a remarkably low price, a quarter that of a V12 Ferrari, but with similar performance. At the heart of the William Lyons styled roadster was that all-new 3,442cc twin overhead camshaft XK engine, producing 160bhp via twin SU carburettors, sufficient for 126mph and 0-60mph in 10 seconds. The XK120 became a massive success, both on the road and the track, where it scored numerous victories. The many drivers included Stirling Moss, Peter Walker, Peter Whitehead, Leslie Johnson and Ian Appleyard. In XK120C/C-Type form it won Le Mans in both 1951 and 1953, while its engine was to power three more Le Sarthe winners and a whole host of successful Jaguar models for the next fifty years.First registered in January of 1951, chassis 259 was bought by the current owner from Coys Kensington Showrooms in 1989, and has remained in his custodianship ever since. Our vendor, a serious collector of important race and road cars from the 1930s to the current day, has stored the Jaguar very carefully and driven it lightly in his ownership. The condition of the car is quite remarkable; the body panels are straight with very good gaps, the doors fit well, and the fabulous original interior displays a wonderful patina. The engine and chassis numbers have been checked and match, and the Jaguar has been granted a recent MoT certificate. All in all a fantastically well-preserved example of one of the most significant sports cars of the post-war era, and we genuinely feel an unrepeatable opportunity.View 1951 Jaguar XK120 Roadster “ UK delivered from new on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1951-jaguar-xk120-roadster-uk-delivered-from-new' for further details.

Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster

Lot # 115 (Sale Order: 15 of 38)

The Jaguar E-Type (a.k.a. Jaguar XK-E) is a British sports car, which was manufactured by Jaguar Cars Ltd. between 1961 and 1975. Its combination of good looks, high performance and competitive pricing established the marque as an icon of 1960s motoring. More than 70,000 E-Types were sold. The Series 2 introduced a number of design changes, largely due to U.S. design legislation. The most distinctive feature is the absence of the aerodynamic glass headlight covers, which impacted several other imported cars, like the Citro«n DS, as well. Unlike other cars, this retrograde step was applied worldwide for the E-Type. Other hallmarks of Series 2 cars are a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers, better cooling aided by an enlarged mouth and twin electric fans, and uprated brakes.New seats were fitted, which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned; rocker switches that met US health and safety regulations were substituted for toggle switches. The engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial ribbed appearance. Air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options. This 1970 roadster is presented in blue with blue interior, at some point in its life converted to the more desirable right hand drive specification by Jaguar specialists at a cost of 31,000.The car has been regularly used by the current vendor, and is the winner of five Concours Delegance trophies. The roadster comes complete with a UK V5C registration.View 1970 Jaguar E-Type Series II Roadster on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1970-jaguar-e-type-series-ii-roadster' for further details.

Porsche 928 S4

Lot # 116 (Sale Order: 16 of 38)

First introduced to the world at the Geneva Salon in 1977, and subsequently voted European Car of the Year in 1978, the 928 was intended as a more refined replacement for the long-running 911. With the 928, Porsche had created a serious long distance Grand Tourer that could also tackle twisting country roads with ease. Thanks to an alloy V8 attached to a rear mounted gearbox and 50/50 weight distribution, the car felt planted and nimble with a vast amount of grip.A five-speed transaxle gearbox or three-speed automatic were the transmission options. In 1979 the 928S with 4.6 litre engine arrived, and then in 1986 the model was further revised and restyled, becoming the 928 S4. Its engine producing 320bhp courtesy of twin-cam, 16-valve cylinder heads and enlargement to 4,957cc, the S4 enjoyed a welcome top speed boost to 160mph. The UK launch price was 46,534. Porsche has not made anything like the 928 since its deletion in 1995.Delivered in 1979 this excellent 928 S4 finished in the desirable colour combination of Steel Grey with a burgundy and cream leather interior. The car comes complete with a comprehensive history file including bills and invoices of previous work carried out along with MOT certificates dating back to new, believed to have covered just over 49,000 miles from new the car is said to be in good working condition. This well presented 928 with a comprehensive history is certainly a fine example of its marque. View 1989 Porsche 928 S4 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1989-porsche-928-s4' for further details.

Invicta 12/45 Open Tourer

Lot # 117 (Sale Order: 17 of 38)

In its all-too-short lifetime Invicta carved out an enviable reputation for building fine sporting motor cars, the bigger Meadows-engined models in particular offering class-leading performance and impeccable build quality. For customers less concerned with ultimate performance, the company offered the 12/45. Introduced in 1932 and built to the firms customary high standards, the 12hp Small Invicta was an intriguing exercise in circumventing the ludicrous tax on engine capacity that dictated British design policy between the wars. Strongly built and well finished in typical Invicta fashion, the 12/45 used a 1½-litre, six-cylinder, single-overhead-camshaft, Blackburne engine and was available with either tourer or saloon coachwork. Like its big 4½-Litre sister, the Small Invicta had a massive chassis with wide-set springs for maximum stability; nevertheless, it was geared for good acceleration.Contemporary press reports praised the cars beautiful proportions: the wheelbase is long and the track full width¦ the effect is to suggest a machine in at least the 16hp class¦ the chassis is very low in relation to the ground, which enables the height of the complete closed car to be kept as low as 5ft¦ this effect is secured without suggestion of freakishness. This low centre of gravity also aiding and abetting roadholding. Only a handful of around 60 12/45 Invictas were produced by the factory from 1931 “ 1934, equipped with the 1.5 litre Blackburne engine. The Invicta Car Clubs records that chassis number L 239 was registered in January 1934 as AXE 750, a London registration number. One of the few 12/45s to survive, the car was owned by much of the post-war period by Mr. Standing, and lattterly a Mr. Bentley.By the 1980s the car was owned by a Mr Heard of Malmesbury in Wiltshire, who rebuilt the car.At this time the engine was rebuilt by Rendall Hour Time, known for preparing cars for VSCC events. It is known to have competed at Enstone and other venues, as well as touring in France. By 1997 it was in the stewardship of the late Roger Lees of Poole, Dorset. This is a well sorted car with vintage sports pedigree and as such ideal for VSCC events. It is known to have competed at Enstone and other venues, as well as touring in France. By 1997 it was in the stewardship of the late Roger Lees of Poole, Dorset. Ford Mustang 302 Fastback

Lot # 118 (Sale Order: 18 of 38)

The Mustang was initially offered as either a Notchback Coup© or a Convertible with the Fastback appearing later. It shared its front double-wishbone/coil spring and leaf spring rear suspension with the Falcon but compared to the saloon the cockpit sat further back on the chassis, resulting in a longer front and shorter rear end design and both its roof and bonnet were also lower in comparison. Those proportions somehow just worked, and with a full complement of new styling details such as the galloping horse in the grille, the cut-away side sections, the 3-section rear lights and that get outta my way front end, everyone wanted one. This amazing V8 muscle car was first registered in 1967, later being restored by an avid Mustang collector based in Tennessee in the United States, then added to his private collection of over 100 classic cars and trucks. The Mustang has clearly been restored to a very high standard; under the bonnet is a tuned Ford 302 Small Block motor which has enjoyed a rebuild with camshaft upgrade, Ford Racing air cleaner and valve covers and Mallory ignition system. The motor is fed via a twin choke Holley carburettor through a polished aluminium inlet manifold, and breathes out through a custom H-pipe exhaust with Flo-Master mufflers. The rebuilt motor is mated to a 4-speed top loader manual gearbox, and 9 Ford 4:10 ratio rear axle, stabilised with anti-tramp bars to keep power to the wheels. Handling is improved by the fitting of Monroe adjustable shock absorbers, power steering has been added to improve maneuverability, and stopping has been improved with servo operated discs to the front end.Beautifully presented in Acapulco Blue, and offered with a recent MOT certificate, this must surely rank as one of the very best Mustang Fastbacks in the UK today.View 1967 Ford Mustang 302 Fastback on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1967-ford-mustang-302-fastback' for further details.

Jaguar MkII 3.8

Lot # 119 (Sale Order: 19 of 38)

Although the Mk I was a great success, selling four times as many as the larger Jaguar saloons, Jaguar boss William Lyons was not content. He knew it could be improved.Happily, virtually every aspect that had been criticised received attention in the new MkII range introduced in October 1959. These cars were to rank among the best loved Jaguars ever made and are today regarded as classics. There were some detail changes, including a redesigned interior that was more modern but retained the traditional Jaguar image.Jaguar saloons led the field in production and touring car races during much of the 1960s. Not surprisingly the quickest and most successful private entries came from John Coombs Jaguar dealership in Guilford. John Coombs had significant race experience and his dealership simply got it right for a fortunate few racing enthusiasts. Very early on that included Hill, Salvadori and Salmon. This nice later example of the ultimate specification Mark II, fitted with the 3.8 litre engine and four speed manual/overdrive gearbox, was delivered new in the UK in 1965, later being restored with a Coombs-style vented bonnet, chrome wire wheels, stainless exhaust system and period rear luggage rack for touring purposes. The Mark II is offered with a substantial history file, original green logbook and several older MOT certificates dating back a number of years. Finished in Carmen Red with a matching red leather interior showing excellent patina, this is a great Jaguar for the enthusiastic driver, and we feel a sound buy in the current market.:View 1965 Jaguar MK II 3.8 on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1965-jaguar-mk-ii-3-8' for further details.

Jaguar XK120 Alloy Competition Roadster

Lot # 120 (Sale Order: 20 of 38)

Told by the post-war Attlee government to export or die, the British motor industry responded valiantly, none more so than Jaguar Cars, soon to become the UKs biggest US-dollar earner thanks in no small measure to the success of its XK120 sports car. Ironically, the XK120s creation had only come about because delays in the gestation of the MkVII saloon had forced Jaguar to find an alternative method of bringing its new XK six-cylinder engine to public attention. Conceived and constructed in but a few months, the XK120 debuted at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show where the stunning looking roadster caused a sensation.Conceived as a low-volume model, the XK120 proved considerably more popular than expected, the resulting demand for what was then the worlds fastest production car taking Jaguar by surprise. It was immediately obvious that the ash-framed alloy coachwork “ hand built in the best vintage tradition “ would have to go and the XK120 was re-engineered in steel after 240 cars had been completed.First shown at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show, the XK120 created a sensation and as an alloy bodied example the XK120 offered phenomenal power-to-weight ratio and blistering performance proving great success in competitive racing. The 120 referred to the cars top speed, and Jaguar lost no time in demonstrating that this was no idle boast.Any doubts about the claims veracity were swiftly banished when in May 1949, on the Jabbeke to Aeltre autoroute in Belgium, a standard X120 achieved a top speed of 126.4mph with hood and side screens erected, and 132.6mph minus its weather protection and equipped with an under-tray!Rolling out of the factory in Coventry on the 12th of January 1950, chassis number 87 is an early example of the 184 left-hand-drive alloy-bodied Roadsters built. Its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, records that the first dealer was Hornburg USA who was a widely renowned importer of race cars such as C-Types and D-Types.#670087 raced in America for a number of years before being repatriated to the UK where it was again raced in first class historic motorsport. At this time the jaguar was registered as PGY 189L and achieved huge success holding lap records at just about every British race circuit. The Jaguar also won the 100kms at Le Mans beating C and D-Types and was very successful at the Nurburgring. The continuous success in racing made PGY 189L a very well-known car and soon the Jaguar became identified as Piggy due to its registration prefix.Despite being fully functioning in the years leading up to 1990 and with MOTs to support this, the keeper at the time Mr. Ridley decided it was time for a comprehensive restoration, and with the help of marque specialists such as Fisher Restoration, Piggy was brought back to its former glory. Now being sold out of long term private ownership during which the Jaguar has been used sparingly for club meetings and the occasional long-distance tour, this is an excellent opportunity to purchase a lovely older restoration of one of the very rare and increasingly desirable Alloy bodied XK120s.View 1950 Jaguar XK120 Alloy Competition Roadster Piggy on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1950-jaguar-xk120-alloy-competition-roadster-piggy' for further details.

BMW E9 3.0 CSL

Lot # 121 (Sale Order: 21 of 38)

1973 was a landmark year for BMW, not only did the German manufacturer power Jean-Pierre Jarier to the European Formula 2 Championship, they also captured the European Touring Car Championship using one of the most iconic racing saloons of modern times: the 3.0 CSL, known popularly as the Batmobile.BMW had returned to six-cylinder power for its range-topping models in 1968 with the launch of the 2500 and 2800 saloons. Also new was the 3.0 CSLs forerunner, the 2800CS coup©, though the latters running gear had more in common with the existing, four-cylinder 2000C/CS. The introduction of the similarly styled 3.0-litre CS in 1971 brought with it numerous improvements, including four-wheel ventilated disc brakes, and with 180bhp on tap the model was good for around 130mph. For racing purposes there was the lightweight 3.0 CSL.Visually indistinguishable from its more run of the mill relations, the CS and CSi, the 3.0 CSL (Coup© Sport Leicht) was creative homologation at its best. The BMW engineers solution to the marketing departments requirements was to develop a limited production run homologation special to meet the constrictive framework of the Group 2 racing class regulations. By removing the trim; using thinner steel for the main bodyshell; aluminium alloy for the doors, bonnet and boot lid; and Perspex for the side windows a valuable 300lbs (136kgs) in weight was saved “ Leicht indeed.Homologated initially with a fractionally over-bored (3,003cc) engine (enabling it to compete in the over 3-litre class) the 3.0 CSL came with 206bhp for road use and well over 300 horsepower for the track. The wonderful BMW 3.0 CSL presented here in Verona red with contrasting black interior, has benefitted from a plethora of work and refurbishment between March and May 2016. Some of the work included a full respray, refurbished front and rear suspension, refurbished interior wood trim as well as original Scheel seats and new carpets; all chrome work stripped and refurbished and a new exhaust fitted. There is a comprehensive history of maintenance including a major engine rebuild of the original unit by renowned independent BMW specialists Munich Legends. The level of care and passion that has gone into this car is evident and the car has been regularly invited to exhibit at Goodwood and other events. Currently showing 73,000 miles on the odometer, this RHD example of a swiftly appreciating model would be an asset to any serious collection. The car is offered with a current MOT and UK V5C.:View 1973 BMW E9 3.0 CSL on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1973-bmw-e9-3-0-csl' for further details.

Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 Spider

Lot # 122 (Sale Order: 22 of 38)

Sporting elegant coachwork designed and built by Pininfarina, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider was a huge success and continued virtually unchanged in 1.6-litre Giulia guise when the latter joined the line-up in 1962. Launched at the Monza Autodrome on 27th June that year, the Giulia range was the work of a design team headed by one of the greatest of Italian automobile engineers, Dr Orazio Satta Puliga, who had been responsible for all the post-war Alfa Romeos. The capacity increase from 1,300 to 1,600cc boosted maximum power of Alfas classic twin-cam four from 80 to 92bhp and the cars top speed to 109mph. Reliability was likewise enhanced and the larger engine was noticeably smoother and less fussy. A five-speed gearbox was standard on the Giulia 1600 Spider, which remained in production until 1966. Described by Cars Illustrated as probably one of the most delightful small sports cars which will ever be produced, the Giulia Spider is certainly one of the most attractive Alfa Romeos of its day and remains highly regarded now. This beautiful example of the ever appreciating larger engined 1600 Giulia Spider has had only three owners form new and was subject to an extensive mechanical and cosmetic restoration in 2008-2011. The factory 1600cc Normale engine was rebuilt to Veloce specifications and having driven approximately 1,600km over the last year, the car remains in excellent condition throughout. Its last thorough service and inspection was completed 8 months ago.On top of stripping the car to bare metal for its respray, a coating of rust inhibitor was also applied to the underside. Numerous photos documenting the restoration are available on request. The AR00112 coded 1600 engine is correct for the cars Normale specification and fitted with a pair of Weber carburettors, it was given a complete rebuild in 2010 beyond standard Normale specifications, and is described by the seller to be a strong runner. An all-round excellent matching numbers car supplied with thorough photo documentation of its older restoration. Cadillac Coupe de Ville

Lot # 123 (Sale Order: 23 of 38)

The first Cadillac Coupe de Ville was shown during the 1949 Motorama. It was built on a Cadillac Sixty Special chassis and featured a dummy air-scoop, chrome trim around front wheel openings, and a one-piece windshield and rear glass. The interior was black and trimmed in grey leather, including the headliner, to match the roof colour. The Cadillac was restyled for the second time and re-engineered for 1961. The new grille slanted back towards both the bumper and the hood lip and sat between dual headlamps. New forward slanting front pillars with non-wraparound windshield glass were seen. The revised backlight treatment had crisp angular lines with thin pillars on some models and heavier semi-blind quarter roof posts on others. De Ville models featured front series designation scripts and a lower body skeg trimmed with a thin, three-quarter-length spear moulding running from behind the front wheel opening to the rear of the car. Standard equipment included power brakes, power steering, automatic transmission, dual backup lights, windshield washer, dual speed wipers, wheel discs, plain fender skirts, outside rear view mirror, vanity mirror, oil filter, power windows and 2-way power seats. Rubberized front and rear coil springs replaced the trouble prone air suspension system. Four-barrel induction systems were now the sole power choice and dual exhaust were no longer available. The Cadillac offered here is a two door model finished in the original colour of Fontana Rose (code 48). This car was imported from the USA in 1989, when it was registered with a UK V5C. It benefits from a host of features including power steering, electric windows, original radio and white wall tyres. We are told that the 6.2 litre V8 starts well and pulls smoothly on her automatic transmission, making her a joy to drive. This car represents a great opportunity to own a true American classic in time for the summer.View 1961 Cadillac Coupe de Ville on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1961-cadillac-coupe-de-ville-2' for further details.

Jaguar XK150

Lot # 124 (Sale Order: 24 of 38)

This fabulous XK150 Drophead Coupe was first registered in 1958, later finding its way to Sydney Australia and to one further owner since 1990. In 1996 the restoration work started in earnest. The engine was rebuilt by Jaguar Specialist Graeme Lord of Sydney, including a conversion to unleaded petrol. At the same time new ring gear was fitted, and the flywheel was balanced. The engine was treated to stainless steel exhausts and silencers, and the radiator overhauled. A new petrol tank and sender were fitted, with an electronic petrol pump. The generator was overhauled and a geared starter motor fitted. The gearbox and overdrive were built up using all new bearings and seals and mated to a new driveshaft. The rear axle and differential were totally overhauled and all the bearings and seals were replaced. The car was then treated to an overhaul of the braking system, with the fitting of Koni shock absorbers on each corner.Whilst all the mechanical work was proceeding, Warwick Parr of Warwicks Autobarn in Sydney restored the bodywork, whilst the chassis and fittings were sand blasted and painted. The bodywork was prepared and finished in Nightwatch Blue. All woodwork was renewed, including the hood bows, floor panels and dashboard. The chrome work was professionally restored and new pieces purchased where required. The instruments were overhauled and calibrated by Olympic Instruments, Sydney, new Jaguar headlights and rings were acquired, as was a new steering wheel. Four new Daytona chrome spoked wheels and a new windscreen completed the exterior build. Finally the XK was upholstered by specialists Hy-tone of Sydney; the seats, internal door panels and dash were covered in Sahara leather, with cinnamon carpets to the passenger compartment and boot area. The convertible hood was upholstered in dark blue canvas with a mohair lining, with a matching hood bag. Since being rebuilt, this stunning XK has never been driven in rain and is totally rust free. Supported by a photographic record of the works completed, and associated invoices, we are sure this must be one of the best XK150s on the market today.View 1958 Jaguar XK150 Drophead Coupe on 'http://www.coys.co.uk/cars/1958-jaguar-xk150-drophead-coupe-2' for further details.
