Right side of the barrel is stamped "Colt .45 Peacemaker". Backstrap is engraved "Salt Lake City to Fort Laramie". The cylinder that is installed is fluted. (C) Rare Parker-Hale Webley Mark VI .22 Caliber Conversion Revolver.

Lot # 1008 (Sale Order: 209 of 715)

This is a standard Webley Mk VI manufactured in 1918, so dated, with blued finish, double action and originally chambered for the .455 cartridge. Exhibits the rare, never-seen Parker conversion. This model is fully described on page 115 in the book "The Webley Story" by Dowell. On page 153 is a four page dissertation on the sub-caliber conversions. Similar versions can be seen on plates 57 and 60. According to the book, following World War I Captain W.E. Robinson of the Fourth Battalion Border regiment suggested A.G. Parker & Co. Ltd., Birmingham, (now Parker-Hale) that they should experiment to adapt the revolver to shoot .22 LR. Matching numbers on cylinder, barrel and frame. Beautiful, sharp makings. 95% original military finish. Numerous Birmingham proofs. Features six shot, composite grips and lanyard ring.
