Connecticut Arms Hammond Bulldog Single Shot Deringer

Lot # 1475 (Sale Order: 476 of 901)

serial #1799, 44 RF, 4 1/2" octagon barrel with a good bore showing light pitting, oxidation and strong rifling throughout. The barrel on this deringer is a freckled dark gray patina with high edge wear, minor oxidation staining and some streaks of original bright blue throughout. The frame and breechblock are a dull gray overall with some darker patches of old oxidation staining and some very fine pinprick pitting scattered throughout. The markings on both the barrel and breechblock remain clear and the silver blade front sight has been rather crudely repaired with brazing. The checkered hard rubber grips are un-numbered and remain in near excellent condition with some minor dings, handling marks and discoloration. The mechanism still functions very well with a strong hammer and positive extractor making for a very fine example of these interesting and robust deringers. (138448-28) {ANTIQUE}

Japanese Type 14 Semi-Auto Pistol by Nagoya Toriimatsu

Lot # 1476 (Sale Order: 477 of 901)

serial #92393 (Series 1), 8mm Nambu, 4 1/2" barrel with bright near excellent bore showing just a few tiny scattered pits. The metal surfaces of this September 1943-made pistol retain about 90% original dull arsenal blue with small patches of oxidation and pinprick pitting scattered about, some high edge and operational wear, gripstraps toning to grayish brown and some handling marks. The grooved Asian hardwood grips are both numbered to the gun and remain in excellent condition with much of their original finish, a small abrasion on the right panel and a few handling marks. The right panel also fits a tad loose. This pistol includes two correct magazines that are both numbered to separate guns 567 and 231. All other serialized parts in this pistol are matching, although the magazine safety is missing its plunger and spring which causes the magazines to hang up upon insertion every now and then. The pistol also includes an original tan canvas lanyard, a spare firing pin and original cleaning rod. The lanyard remains in very good plus condition with some minor staining throughout, the spare firing pin is numbered 677 and is an good condition overall with minor freckling and oxidation staining and the cleaning rod is an earlier nickel-plated variation retaining about 40% nickel plate with the remainder oxidized to dark gray. A very nice example for the military collector that includes a good assortment of original accessories. (138524-11) {C&R}

C.S. Shattuck "Unique" Pocket Revolver

Lot # 1481 (Sale Order: 482 of 901)

serial #1128, 32 RF, 2 3/4" octagon barrel with an about very good bore showing strong rifling and some light oxidation and pitting throughout. The metal surfaces retain about 94% original nickel with a few scattered freckles, minor oxidation staining and some small patches of flaking. The black checkered hard rubber grips are un-numbered and remain in near excellent condition with a few minor handling marks and some toning to brown. The grips prominently feature high relief portraits of Abraham Lincoln on the right panel and James Garfield on the left as a morbid reminder of these two assassinated presidents. Timing and lockup remain excellent and this little revolver features an ingenious swing-out design for quick access to the cylinder. A very interesting little revolver featuring a pair of scarce, and rather grim, factory grips. (138527-56) {ANTIQUE}

Moore's Patent Firearms Company Single Action Belt Revolver

Lot # 1482 (Sale Order: 483 of 901)

serial #2935, 32 RF, 5" octagon barrel with a good bore showing strong rifling and some minor oxidation and pinprick pitting throughout. The metal surfaces of the barrel, cylinder and axis pin have been lightly cleaned and have taken on a smooth gray patina with high edge wear, some small dings, scattered pinprick pitting and light oxidation staining. The only marking on this example is the typical "D. Moore" patent mark and it remains very clear. The brass frame, triggerguard and backstrap are embellished with standard factory scrollwork and retain some silver plate scattered about with most surfaces now worn to ochre. The one-piece smooth walnut grip is un-numbered and remains in very good condition as lightly cleaned with a few small dings and handling marks scattered about. The grip is also a little shy of the frame in some areas and there is a small patch of flaking varnish on the right side that appears to be filling in an old chip. This example shows a number of repairs that appear to be from the period of use including a replaced ejector rod, added spring between the cylinder and barrel and a missing ejector rod retainer. These interesting revolvers employ a swing-out barrel and cylinder for quick reloading which is still fully functional on this example. Timing and lockup remain very solid and the major parts appear to be matching by assembly number. This revolver also includes an older brown leather belt holster that remains in very good plus condition with some minor scuffs, light staining and handling marks. (138525-10) {ANTIQUE}

Glisenti M1854-Style Single Action Pinfire Revolver

Lot # 1483 (Sale Order: 484 of 901)

serial #842, 12mm Pinfire, 6 1/4" barrel with a bright excellent bore. This elegant revolver remains in very fine overall condition retaining about 30% original blue on the cylinder and barrel with the remainder flaking to a smooth dark gray patina, some scattered freckles here and there and a few small dings and tool marks on the lower extension of the barrel and along the cylinder. The case-hardened frame, triggerguard and hammer retain some subtle hints of their original colors, the remainder toned to a nice smooth gray patina with some freckling and a few areas of minor oxidation staining. The smooth walnut grips remain in near excellent condition with mostly worn finish, a few small dings and handling marks. Both grips are stamped with the last two digits of the serial number as well as the word "PRATI" and the right grip is also stamped with a "TG" on the exterior. The lower barrel extension is marked "G. GLISENTI BRESCIA" on the left and "ACCIAJO FUSO" and a "G G" proof mark on the right. The right barrel flat is also stamped with a "(Crown)/T" proof. All major components appear to be stamped with the last two digits of the serial number and the revolver retains its lanyard ring, ejector rod and front sight. Some mechanical attention will be required as the trigger will drop the hammer on half cock although timing and lockup still remain excellent. This model appears almost identical to the French M1854 Lefaucheux revolver and is really a very nice example overall that appears to have seen very little use. (138350-12) {ANTIQUE}

Scarce London-Marked Colt Third Model Thuer Deringer

Lot # 1488 (Sale Order: 489 of 901)

serial #35455, 41 RF Short, 2 1/2" barrel with an oxidized and pitted bore. The barrel of this standard 3rd model Thuer has toned to a mix of pewter and brown with scattered pitting, oxidation stains, scratches and two very small shallow notches on the breech end of the barrel. The brass frame is ochre with a few light handling marks. The hammer and trigger are smoky gray with light oxidation blemishes. The smooth walnut factory grips rate very good with lightly flaking finish, scuffs, dings and dents. The barrel is numbered to the frame but the numbers on the grips are illegible. The right side of the frame is engraved "E.M.REILLY.&.CO. LONDON." and the left side has a "c / [Rampant Colt]" above the trigger. The London agents marked the Colts with the small c and small Rampant Colt for several years to authenticate real Colt products they had lowered prices on during a price war that started when a flood of Colt #1, #2 and #3 Deringers marketed by New York agents in England were selling at prices lower than Colts Agency price structure. The result is a very limited class of collectible firearms that are very desirable and seldom seen. (88333-39) {ANTIQUE}
