Lot # 1625 (Sale Order: 626 of 901)

.48 cal, 3 1/4" part round part octagon barrel with a lightly oxidized bore. Snider MKIII Single Shot Carbine by Enfield

Lot # 1626 (Sale Order: 627 of 901)

serial #B978, 577 Snider, 19 1/4" barrel with a bright very good bore showing a few spots of light oxidation. The metal surfaces of the barrel, lock and breech have toned to a mix of smooth gray and lightly oxidized pewter with scattered oxidation staining, patches of light pinprick pitting and freckling throughout. Most of the British proofs and other markings remain very clear, although the "(Crown)/V.R." has softened some. The brass triggerguard and buttplate remain in very nice condition and have toned to a pleasing dull goldenrod with a few scattered dings. The straight grip walnut stock remains in about very good overall condition with small dings, abrasions and handling marks scattered throughout. There is a 1 1/2" repaired chip below the lock, a 2" hairline crack left side forward of the barrel band and a small drying crack by the heel of the buttplate. The lock is strong and crisp and the breech mechanism works very well making for a very solid overall example of these British carbines. (138481-3) {ANTIQUE}

Massachusetts Arms Co Adams Patent Pocket Percussion Revolver

Lot # 1627 (Sale Order: 628 of 901)

serial #1221, .31 cal, 3 1/4" octagon barrel with an about very good bore showing strong rifling and patches of frosting and oxidation. The metal surfaces of this double action only revolver have worn to gunmetal overall with some traces of original blue isolated in a few protected areas. There is moderate oxidation staining, freckling and light pitting scattered throughout and the nipples are fairly well oxidized. The barrel markings are very clear and the cylinder is matching the frame. A sliver of the hammer has broken off where its edge hits the frame and it still retains a healthy amount of original fire temper blue with freckling and toning to dark gray. The loading lever and sliding safety are present and functional although the loading plunger does not always align correctly. The checkered walnut one-piece grip remains in near excellent condition with a few chipped points and some minor handling marks. This revolver has no doubt seen a lot of use but the double action mechanism still functions well with good timing and it is a good overall example. (138426-137) {ANTIQUE}

James Reid Model 4 Dual Ignition Pocket Revolver

Lot # 1628 (Sale Order: 629 of 901)

serial #3112, 32 RF or .31 cal percussion, 4" octagon barrel with a very good plus bore showing some very light scattered oxidation. The barrel of this revolver retains about 70% original bright blue with some flaking and toning to gray, small scratches, some very fine pinprick pitting and a few minor dings. The barrel address marking remains very crisp. The cylinder retains some traces of original blue but has mostly toned to a brownish gray with some freckling, pinprick pitting, some operational wear and a drag line. The iron frame is a relatively even mix of original silver plate and worn iron with some tarnishing, minor oxidation staining, small dings and fine pinprick pitting. The smooth rosewood grips remain in very good plus condition with a healthy amount of original varnish, some flaking, small dings and a chip at the base of the right panel. The left panel is pencil-numbered to the gun and the right panel is un-numbered. These interesting revolvers retained cylinder threads in order to mount nipples and convert the gun to percussion fire or simply remove the nipples and fire 32 rimfire metallic cartridges. This was done in an attempt to avoid infringement on Rollin White's patent. This example retains the frame cutout and barrel dovetail for a loading lever which is no longer present and the cylinder pin appears to be a later replacement. The cylinder stop has worn down and does not completely lock the cylinder in place, although timing remains very strong. This piece remains a very solid example overall. (138433-35) {ANTIQUE} [Paul Weisberg Collection]

Josiah Ells Pocket Model Double Action Percussion Revolver

Lot # 1629 (Sale Order: 630 of 901)

serial #38, .31 cal, 3" octagon barrel with a dark oxidized bore showing rifling throughout. The barrel of this early first model retains scant streaks of original bright blue and has toned overall to a freckled gray with silvering of the high edges. The round frame and five shot cylinder are embellished with standard factory scrollwork and have toned to an overall dull gray and gunmetal with minor freckling and tiny pinprick pitting scattered throughout. The patent markings on the hammer have softened some around the edges but remain very clear overall. The smooth walnut grips remain in near excellent condition with a healthy amount of original varnish, a few tiny dings and handling marks. The right grip is stamped only with a "3" and the left grip is both stamped and pencil-numbered with the serial number. The cylinder and barrel are also matching to the gun. The double action mechanism still functions quite well although the cylinder does not advance every now and then. A very good early example for the antique arms collector. Japanese Type 26 Double Action Revolver by Tokyo Army Arsenal

Lot # 1631 (Sale Order: 632 of 901)

serial #54755, 9mm Japanese Revolver, 4 3/4" barrel with a bright very good bore showing a few small patches of oxidation. The metal surfaces of this late production revolver retain about 40% reapplied black paint over a gray phosphate finish with some minor dings and a few patches of pinprick pitting underneath the newer finish. The checkered Asian hardwood grips remain in very good overall condition with worn finish, some small chips around the edges and points, a tiny crack at the bottom of the right panel and scattered handling marks. This revolver was most likely arsenal repaired at some point as its parts appear to be a mix of assembly numbers and serial numbers. The frame, barrel and cylinder all show assembly number "34" and the other interior parts are a mix of numbers, the lever and hammer matching by number "2384". It is possible this revolver also saw service outside of the Japanese military as the black paint and phosphate finish is not consistent with Japanese arsenal refurbishment. Timing is still good but lockup is loose overall. The revolver does include an original brown leather clamshell holster with strong maker markings on the interior flap, some minor staining, scuff marks and verdigris on the brass hardware. Some information about the revolver has been written in white grease pencil on the flap that will likely clean up. (138524-12) {C&R}

Colt 1849 Pocket Model Percussion Revolver

Lot # 1633 (Sale Order: 634 of 901)

serial #326415, .31 cal, 4" octagon barrel with a good bore showing strong rifling, some oxidation and light pitting throughout. The metal surfaces of this revolver have toned to a dull oxidized grayish brown throughout with scattered small dings and pinprick pitting. The barrel and frame markings have softened but remain very visible overall and the cylinder scene is mostly gone. The brass gripstraps and triggerguard are a mix of goldenrod and ochre with some light dings and small spots of oxidation staining. The smooth one-piece walnut grips retain the majority of their original varnish with some minor flaking, small dings and handling marks. They are numbered in ink with the last four digits of the serial number. The only numbers visible on the cylinder are "016" but all other serialized parts are matching. Frame-to-barrel fit is a little loose, some metal has been relieved just below the cylinder arbor and the wedge is loose. Timing and lockup are in need of some mechanical attention as the cylinder does not usually advance and the hammer does not hold at full cock. A well-worn but honest example overall.
