Kawasaki GPZ 750 Turbo

Lot # 102

The Kawasaki GPZ 750 Turbo was a sportbike manufactured from late 1983 to 1985, with two model years, the 1984 E1 and the 1985 E2. The differences were minor, a twin 'push/pull' throttle cable for the E2 and different brake caliper stickers. One magazine branded it the fastest bike they had ever tested and Kawasaki published some adverts claiming it to be 'The Fastest Production Motorcycle in the World'. Jay 'PeeWee' Gleason also recorded a 10.71 second quarter mile for Kawasaki to show that the turbo had genuine performance and was ahead of the other factory turbos. It is widely considered to be the best factory turbo produced by the Japanese manufacturers. This rare motorcycle comes with its ASI (Automotoclub Storico Italiano or in some circles Italian Classic Car Authority), to have your vehicle with a ASI plate on it is quite an honour in Italy. This particular example is presented in red over black and is in good condition. It also comes with Italian documentation and two keys.

Moto Guzzi V7 Sport

Lot # 105

An engine design that originated in the early post war years, Moto Guzzi’s venerable 90 degree V-twin is still around today powering the company’s latest generation of superbikes. Guzzi’s transverse V-twin engine had been conceived to power a lightweight military three wheeler intended for the Italian army, and only later was it reassessed for possible motorcycle use. The work of Giulio Carcano, the man who had masterminded Guzzi’s spectacular V8-engined Grand Prix racer, the V7 was the biggest and fastest roadster ever to come out of the factory at Mandello del Lario. In creating the V7 Sport, it did away with the electrical generator mounted atop the crankcase, opting instead for an alternator carried on the crankshaft nose, thus enabling a much lower frame to be used. In marque expert Mick Walker’s words, the result was 'an amazing transformation of a formerly staid, overweight package.'This lovely classic from the Italian manufacturer is presented in good condition. The bike is from a private collection and is offered with its original Italian documentation and the coveted ASI certification (Automotoclub Storico Italiano). These iconic motorcycles are hugely desirable, mainly due to their relatively maintenance free mechanics and huge torque. Propelled via a driveshaft instead of a chain, these were always revered in the bike world.

BMW R69 S

Lot # 106

In the early 1950s BMW concentrated on refining what were essentially pre war designs, but by 1955 was ready with a brace of new machines, the R50 and R69. Of 500cc and 600cc respectively, the newcomers inherited the updated flat twin engine introduced on the R51/3 a few years previously, but deployed this in all-new cycle parts. The most notable departures from preceding practice being the Earles type leading link front fork and swinging arm rear suspension enclosing the drive shaft in the right leg, these developments were first seen on the works racers.AUTOMATICA luxury tourer capable of over 100mph, the R69 cost as much as a small family car and was sold to discerning enthusiasts to whom expense mattered little when set against the excellence of BMW engineering. The R50/69 were produced until the arrival of the slightly more powerful 'S' versions for 1961. The larger of these, the R69S, produced 42bhp and was good for a top speed of around 110mph. 'Luxury roadster with superb high-speed performance yet docile traffic manners; magnificent steering, roadholding and brakes,' was Motor Cycle's verdict.AUTOMATICThis fabulous example of this popular and iconic Germany motorcycle has recently been completely restored, the restoration included its rare Heinrich fuel tank. The bike is presented with its original Dutch paperwork and since the restoration has covered a mere 70 km. This bike resided in a private collection before the present owner purchased it and presented it to auction.

Honda CX 650 Turbo

Lot # 108

The Honda CX series motorcycles were developed and released in the late 1970's with production ending in most markets by the mid 1980's. The design included innovative features and technology that was uncommon or unused at the time such as liquid cooling, electric-only starting, low-maintenance shaft drive and modular wheels. The electronic ignition system was separate from the rest of the electrical system enabling the motorcycle to be push-started and ridden in case of a total electrical system failure. For the 1983 model year, the engine was increased to 673cc, together with an increase in power. This handsome motorcycle is rare, interesting and in good condition. It has come from a private collection in Italy and as such, comes with its original Italian documentation, two keys and service book. These bikes a very difficult to find and one in this condition should not be missed.

Yamaha XS750

Lot # 112

The Yamaha XS750 and Yamaha XS850 was a line of in-line three cylinder motorcycles produced by the Yamaha Motor Corporation from 1976 to 1981 for the worldwide motorcycle market. The last model year of manufacturing was 1981. Released in Japan in 1976 as the GX750 sporting wire wheels (as opposed to cast alloy in all other models) the XS750 became the name for the export model. These motorcycles are usually referred to as ‘triples’ because they have three cylinders with the earlier first four model years production displacing 750cc.This time-warp example has been liberated from an eccentric collector who, after three years of use, parked the bike in his house and left it there until late 2017. Not surprisingly the condition of this bike is as it was in 1981 and it has covered less than 3,500 miles. Having never required an MoT test certificate and standing on its original factory tyres, this example has had some light recommissioning but having been inside the owner’s house we are informed there are no signs of brittle plastics or corrosion. A fabulous opportunity to own a motorcycle that has spent 37 years in hibernation.

Mercedes-Benz SL60 AMG Roadster

Lot # 121

The Mercedes-Benz R129 was based on the shortened floorpan of the Mercedes-Benz W124 and featured many innovative details for the time; for instance electronically controlled damping (optional) and a hidden, automatically extending roll-over bar. The R107's rather dated rear diagonal swing axle gave way to a modern multi-link axle. The number of standard features was high - with electric action for the windows, mirrors, seats and convertible top. The 1994 cars were the first to have the new designation; i.e. the 500SL became the SL500. Also starting in 1994, Mercedes-Benz offered special SL models from time to time, such as the ‘Mille Miglia Edition’. AMG, the Mercedes-Benz owned tuning company, had already offered an SL version while still independent; the AMG 500SL six litre of 1991. After being taken over by Daimler-Benz, there were several AMG SL-models available. The SL60 AMG was the most numerous of these rare cars. Sold from 1993 to 1998, it used a six litre, V8 engine producing 381PS at 5500rpm. AMG claimed a 0 to 62mph speed of 5.6 seconds. Its top speed was limited to 155mph, but with the limiter removed, it was capable of approximately 185mph. AMG later unofficially conceded that 0 to 60mph was more like 5.0 seconds and the engine produced between 405-410bhp.AUTOMATICThis SL60 AMG was first registered on 1st August 1997 and presents in very good order particularly taking into account the mileage. Most importantly servicing is everything on these cars and this example has a very good service history; she also has a documented new engine fitted in 2001. We are advised by the vendor that R658 GGJ drives well with no known faults and the hood operates as it should. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate, this Mercedes-Benz SL60 is a perfect car for the summer months ahead.AUTOMATIC

Mercedes-Benz 560 SL Roadster

Lot # 123

Launched in late 1985, the 560 SL convertible was the latest in Mercedes-Benz's long and much loved line of luxury sports cars that could trace its lineage back to the 230 SL of 1963. In the 560 SL's case its Type 107 bodyshell had debuted on the 350 SL (introduced in 1970) and this timeless style would continue in production for another five years. The 560 SL was powered by a 5.5-litre, overhead camshaft V8 engine producing 227bhp, an output good enough for a top speed of 220kh with 100kmh reachable in around eight seconds. There were improvements to the running gear in the form of anti-dive, anti-squat rear suspension, a limited slip differential and revised steering geometry. Other noteworthy features, incorporated as standard in this classic automobile, included leather upholstery, anti lock braking, an anti theft alarm system, stereo radio/cassette, leather trimmed steering wheel, gear lever and an improved climate control system. This lovely example of this iconic classic Mercedes-Benz sports car is presented in white with blue cloth interior and also comes with its factory hard top. Morris Mini Minor

Lot # 128

The history of this revolutionary motorcar is well known and its impact socially, culturally and mechanically is well documented. The Swinging Sixties, The Beatles, Twiggy and the Mini are inexorably combined to represent an era that is remembered with great fondness by many people. The side story is the Mini's impact on motorsport and this is no less extraordinary. Issigonis' friend John Cooper, owner of the Cooper Car Company and designer and builder of Formula One and rally cars, saw the potential of the Mini for competition and a formidable opponent it soon became. The production version of the Mini was demonstrated to the press in April 1959 and by August several thousand cars had been produced ready for the first sales. The Mini was officially announced to the public on 26 August 1959. The first example, a Morris Mini-Minor with the registration 621 AOK, is on display at the Heritage Motor Centre in Warwickshire. Another early example from 1959 is on display at the National Motor Museum in Hampshire.AUTOMATICThe Mini was marketed under BMC's two main brand names, Austin and Morris, until 1969, when it became a marque in its own right. The Morris version was known to all as ‘the Mini’ or the ‘Morris Mini-Minor’.This stunning example was imported from New Zealand in 2017, where it had undergone a fabulous refurbishment which included the seats being retrimmed in the famous Spinneybeck hide (one of the finest Italian leather trim available), Wilton carpet, brand new trim and period Cooper S racing wheels being fitted. This is one of the finest examples of this popular and sought-after city runabout. The previous owner was meticulous in his detail when carrying out this work and the result is simply superb. This has to be one of the best available on the market today.

Vauxhall VX220

Lot # 130

The Opel Speedster was a British built mid-engined, targa topped, two-seater sports car sold by the German automaker Opel and introduced in July 2000. It was built in both right hand drive and left hand drive versions at the Lotus Cars plant in Hethel, Norfolk, England and it was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1999. It was sold as the Vauxhall VX220 in the United Kingdom and the Daewoo Speedster in the Asian market. The car shared much in common with the Lotus Elise, although Opel claimed few parts were interchangeable. The Speedster utilised an aluminium chassis tub that weighed only 159 lbs. The car also featured bodywork made entirely of glass reinforced plastic(GRP). The entire car weighed only 1,929 lbs which made it considerably lighter than the similarly sized Toyota MR2. At its launch, the Speedster's all aluminium alloy 2.2 L Z22SE engine produced 147 bhp, making it more powerful than the Elise when it was launched.AUTOMATICThis fabulous one owner example is presented in silver with red leather interior and has covered a mere 7,948 miles from new which is quite exceptional. The car comes with a full main dealer service history together with eight service stamps in the original service book, original handbooks, a spare key and service bills to complement the service book. This lovely little sports car also comes with its original factory removable hard and soft targa top. This must be one of the lowest mileage, one owner example of this marque offered on the market today. A wonderful sports car which would still give most modern sports cars a run for their money on the open road!

Mercedes-Benz SL500 Mille Miglia

Lot # 137

These days, Mercedes has not released too many limited edition models outside of their in house tuning arm, AMG. Before the days of AMG proliferation, Mercedes would release a special edition model from time to time, such as this 1995 SL500 Mille Miglia. Built to commemorate Stirling Moss’s win of the historic 1955 Mille Miglia road race. This R129, available as an SL320 or SL500, was available only in brilliant Silver Metallic, equipped with Evo II six-spoke polished alloys and a red and black leather interior complemented by carbon fibre trim. The side fender grills were also given a rather unique chequered flag treatment that, upon close inspection, is a clever collection of chrome squares.AUTOMATICThis right hand drive example has covered a mere 27,331 miles from new and is presented in absolutely fantastic overall condition. It was originally registered in Jersey, in November 1995, where it spent most of its life ‘pottering around’ the exclusive Channel Island tax haven, having been a 50th birthday present to its first owner. The car was supplied by Jacksons in Jersey, who serviced it at regular intervals, the first service at 6,412 miles and then the last service on the Island at 23,827 miles. The present owner, a well known broadcaster and sports commentator, purchased the car and imported to the UK in October 2015, he has cherished the car ever since.  The car was last serviced at 27,206 miles and had new tyres fitted with refurbished alloys. Typically, this lovely example comes with air conditioning, electric heated front seats and carbon fibre trim as standard, a CD changer in the boot, wind deflector and an electrically operated black soft hood. Accompanying the car is the factory hardtop, presented in superb condition, and all service books and manuals.  This car can only be described as fabulous in every respect and without question, must be the finest example of this rare sports car on the market today.

Morris Mini Cooper S Mk. II

Lot # 147

Designed by Alex Issigonis in 1959, a new concept in car design was born. With a monocoque shell, transversely mounted engine and front wheel drive, the new 'Mini', soon became popular across a broad spectrum of the population. The potential for competition use was soon seen by John Cooper; BMC were finally persuaded by John Cooper and the two worked together in culminating the birth of the Austin Mini Cooper and the Morris Mini Cooper in 1961. Victories in the 1964, 1965 and 1967 Monte-Carlo Rallies set the Mini on the road to fame but probably the greatest publicity was gained from their, somewhat unfair, disqualification for lighting irregularities in the 1966 event after coming in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. A more powerful Mini Cooper, dubbed the 'S', was developed in tandem and released in 1963. Approximately 2,500 Mk. II Cooper S were built making it one of the rarest versions of this very collectible motor car.AUTOMATICThis good Mk. II Cooper S was supplied new to Malaysia where the vendor believes that it only covered 40,000 miles and was restored some time ago fitting wide arches and air conditioning. Imported and registered in the UK last year, it is reported that it drives very well with new Minilite wheels and new tyres fitted. Finished in black with a Union Jack roof and red interior, this Cooper S is supplied with a V5C registration document and a MoT test certificate. Offering all the performance and charm as the Mk. I at half the price, this Mk. II Cooper S is a fantastic opportunity to own a piece of motoring history.

Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph

Lot # 150

The Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph was first unveiled on 3rd March, 1998 at the Geneva Motor Show. It replaced the Silver Spur which ended production in 1997. All Seraphs were hand-built at the Rolls-Royce factory in Crewe, England, which stopped making Rolls-Royce models in 2002 but continued with Bentley. The car had a base price of £155,175 in the UK and was powered by a 5.4 litre aluminium alloy BMW V12 engine, making it the first twelve-cylinder Rolls-Royce since the 1939 Phantom III. Standard electronics included digital engine management, adaptive ride control and anti-lock brakes. Aside from the radiator grille, badges and wheels, the Rolls-Royce was externally identical to the contemporary Bentley Arnage, sharing both its platform and bodyshell. Inside, the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph and the Bentley Arnage were similar but quite distinct from one another. In the Seraph, the gear selector was column-mounted and the gauges followed a traditional Rolls-Royce layout (for example, there was no tachometer). In both cars, the seats and dashboard were upholstered in Connolly leather, with dashboard trim and folding picnic trays for rear passengers and glossy burr walnut veneer.AUTOMATICSupplied by Leodis Court in Leeds (now JCT 600) and registered on 1st October 1998, this Rolls-Royce is in splendid condition. The paintwork is in two-tone Silver Pearl and Black Sapphire whilst the interior is in the colour combination of Atlantic Blue and Stratos; this is a particularly handsome car. The interior also benefits from having rear picnic tables and a sunroof. A 48,000 mile service was carried out in June 2017 by marque specialist Daniel Moore & Co in Whittlesey at 59,121 miles and, together with some mechanical work, the invoice totalled £2,585.09. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate; Rolls-Royce Silver Seraphs are rare and are fast becoming recognised as highly desirable and collectable, they are a superb car to travel in.AUTOMATIC

Citroën DS19 Décapotable

Lot # 151

The Citroën DS is a four-door, front-engine, front-wheel-drive mid-size car manufactured from 1955 to 1975 in saloon, estate and convertible body configurations. Italian sculptor and industrial designer Flaminio Bertoni and the French aeronautical engineer André Lefèbvre styled and engineered the car. Paul Magès developed the hydro-pneumatic self-levelling suspension. Noted for its aerodynamic, futuristic body design and innovative technology, the DS set new standards in ride quality, handling and braking. Citroën sold 1,455,746 cars, including 1,330,755 built at the manufacturer's original mass-production plant in Paris. The DS came third in the 1999 Car of the Century poll recognising the world's most influential auto designs and was named the most beautiful car of all time by Classic & Sports Car magazine. Henri Chapron was a prominent French automobile coachbuilder and turned his hand to the successful Citroën DS with its revolutionary aerodynamic design and radical hydraulic suspension. At first Chapron purchased these vehicles and customised them as one-off conversions. Many of these became unique convertible variants of the DS known as the ‘Décapotable’. All told, Chapron created 389 hand-built DS convertibles.AUTOMATICThis delightfully handsome Citroën DS19 has been restored and our inspection confirmed this to be a ‘Décapotable’ of rare quality. The engine runs well and suspension, brakes and steering all operated as they should. Finished in metallic Bordeaux Red with black leather trim, this iconic Citroën epitomises everything about the 1960’s, style and grace mixed in with a hint of quirkiness. Currently still registered on French plates, she come with a NOVA certificate to enable registration in the UK should the new owner choose to do so. Whether driving to the shops or the French Riviera, this DS19 is a genuine Chapron example and is a sure to be a great conversation piece; truly an amazing piece of French motoring history.AUTOMATIC

Porsche 911 / 996 Turbo

Lot # 152

The 996 model is a superb car; quick, reliable, well made and the birth of the water cooled Porsche 911. With a wide range of models on offer, the most iconic is, of course, the Turbo. Featuring four wheel drive and a 3.6 litre, intercooled engine, derived from the 1998 Le Mans winning GT-1 car, pushing out 420bhp and hitting 60mph in a whisker over four seconds, this is genuine supercar territory.  The 996 was seen as a more relaxed and usable 911; however, in Turbo guise, the driver would get the best of both worlds; a luxury leather interior with every creature comfort combined with the ability to drop the hammer and reach a top speed of a claimed 190 mph. The 996 Turbo was available with either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed tiptronic transmission with revised styling and a wider stance than the naturally aspirated 996 Carreras along with new bi-xenon headlamps. The turbo also came with VarioCam Plus as well as stability management - a necessity with over 400 bhp under your right foot.AUTOMATICPerformance can be described as 'ballistic' when behind the wheel of a turbo charged Porsche.  However, due to the modern 911 being such a capable daily driver, mileage on early cars can swiftly reach into six figures resulting in lower mileage models becoming rare for any collector or enthusiast. With just a little over 13,000 miles from new, our example is immaculately presented in the best colour combination metallic black with almost as new black leather trim and has clearly led a pampered life.  First registered on the 1st December 2004 and supplied by West London Porsche, Chiswick this Tiptornic example has had just one owner from new and been serviced by Porsche main dealers only. The last service was performed by the Porsche Service centre at Brooklands in February 2017 and they have cared for the car over the past year. They have stated that, if a buyer were inclined, they would be able to supply a Porsche warranty on this example describing this process as a formality and subject to the normal warranty cost. This car is indeed that impressive to view and drive.AUTOMATICWe are informed that all electrics operate as they should and the gear change through the 5-speed tiptronic gearbox is faultless. Under the wide wheel arches sit iconic turbo alloy wheels, fully refurbished and as new, with near new tyres all round. Included in the history file is a comprehensive service book showing four stamps from Porsche main dealers, all manuals and Navigation CD's in the dealer supplied  leather pouch. This is a superb example of an ever appreciating 911 in such fabulous condition and with extremely low ownership and mileage, so viewing is highly recommended.

Austin-Healey 100/4 BN1

Lot # 153

The result of a partnership signed in 1952 between the head of BMC, Leonard Lord, and successful automotive engineer and Donald Healey, the '100' – so named for its top speed capability – was unveiled at the 1952 Earl's Court Motor Show as a more sporting alternative to the rather stodgy Austin A90 Atlantic convertible. The 100 was simple and strong; the frame comprising a pair of steel rails that ran the length of the chassis passing beneath the live rear axle and below the front lower wishbones. The engine was the old Austin 90 long-stroke four of 2660cc, developing 90bhp at 4000rpm and 144 foot-pounds of torque at 2000rpm. Griffith Borgeson would write ‘Such high torque at low engine speed is one of the competition assets of the Austin Healey. Another is its durability...’ The gear box was a three-speed manual unit with floor change, enhanced by a Laycock de Normanville overdrive on second and third gears. In high overdrive, top speed is about 110 mph. The BN1 proved to be an able competitor; in fact, prior to the advent of the lightweight 'S' spec cars the standard was carried by the early BN1 variant, albeit in sometimes modified form. Early outings included Lyon-Charbonnieres Rally, Mille Miglia, and the 24 Hours of Le Mans where Autocourse commented: ‘the performance of the two Austin Healeys in the hands of Becquart/Wilkins and Gastonides/Lockett, probably the cheapest cars in the race, was remarkable’. Outings at the Goodwood Nine Hour race and with American Bob Cottam in the Trifels Rally and Trifels hill climb cemented the legend.AUTOMATICThis right hand drive Austin Healey 100/4 was built on 9th February 1955 and supplied new in the UK. It spent some time in England before being exported to Australia with an emigrating family, then eventually finding its way to New Zealand being purchased by a Mr James McKinlay, who resided at the Trentham Hotel, Wellington. In 1978 the car passed to John Whiting and from there it passed through two other ownerships, a Mr Ashley Thomas and John Milligan. The car carried the very distinctive registration number of LM 1955. During Mr Milligan's ownership a restoration started in 1980 and was completed in 1990, this included a complete engine rebuild, gearbox rebuild, bare metal respray, interior retrim in Connolly Leather and numerous other components. The car remained in New Zealand for approximately nine years before returning to the UK where it was registered on 1st April 1999 and became part of a private collection. In 2014 the Healey was with Murray Scott-Nelson where the gearbox was removed, stripped for assessment by Hardy Engineering and reassembled it with new components as necessary, this came at a cost of just over £2,500. This beautifully presented 100/4 is supplied with a V5C registration document, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, documentation from New Zealand, a photograph album showing the works carried out and a file containing invoices and old MoT's. 100/4's are eligible for some of the most prestigious rallies and sporting events throughout the world. A comprehensive history and restoration makes this a highly collectable example.

Austin-Healey 3000 Mk. I BT7

Lot # 155

The 'Big' Healey enjoyed steady development, with the early four-cylinder cars giving way to the 100 Six in 1956, which in turn was replaced by the first of the 3000s in 1959. The new car featured an enlarged 2912cc version of Austin's six cylinder engine with twin SU carburettors and Girling front disc brakes offering excellent performance resulting in the model becoming a great success. The 3000 was only referred to as the Mk. I once the Mk. II model was introduced in 1961. Other changes were minor compared to those between the original 100 and the 100-6. The wheelbase and body were unchanged as were the body-styles, a 2+2 or BT7 and a two-seater BN7.AUTOMATICThis Healey 3000 was originally manufactured for the overseas market and did the return journey to the UK in 1989. She was then converted to right hand drive and had some restoration work carried out. The engine on this BT7 started immediately when requested and sounded delightful. We are advised by the vendor she drives well and the gearbox benefits from an overdrive unit. The classic blue over white two-tone paintwork is in good order and the blue interior is in good condition. Supplied with a registration document and a collection of invoices, this Austin-Healey is an attractive proposition for anyone with a penchant for British sports cars.

Chevrolet Corvette C2 Stingray

Lot # 156

The Corvette Stingray had grown to be America's most popular sports car since its debut in 1953 but it was time for a change for the 1963-1967 models. Even the most superlative design grows whiskers after a decade and Chevrolet chief, Bill Mitchell, and stylist, Larry Shinoda, faced a tough task; to improve a living legend. Not only did they succeed but their creation turned into a modern classic and they created the most collectible Corvette of them all sending sales soaring to record levels. Seeds were planted by the Stingray Special racer and experimental XP-720 which displayed a smooth fastback profile and split back window. These and other styling details such as pivoting hidden headlights, doors cut into the roof, and a swage line dip all wound up in the production Stingray. The four headlights aligned with the pointy front end when shut, rotating open when needed. Luggage space grew, though lack of a boot lid earned few plaudits. There was less fibreglass but nearly twice as much steel in the sculptured body, which rode a shorter 98-inch wheelbase.AUTOMATICThis striking example of the Corvette Stingray was restored in 2014. The whole body was sandblasted and repainted. Under the car, the suspension and braking systems were overhauled with new parts. The 350ci, big block engine underwent work too with new seals fitted throughout. Inside the car, the interior is all original and so is the soft top convertible roof. Imported to Germany in 2015, the car came to the UK in 2016 and went into a private collection. Still on the American registration, this Corvette C2 is supplied with the paperwork necessary to register it in the UK, including the US certificate of title, the NOVA certificate, an MoT test certificate which expires in April 2019, the German import papers and a V55/5; the new owner will need to get a dating certificate from the appropriate car club. With summer around the corner, this Stingray is definitely ready for some adrenalin filled open top motoring.

Ferrari 328 GTS

Lot # 157

Perhaps one of the most recognisable designs ever penned for Ferrari by Pininfarina is that of the 308. The 308 was much different from Ferrari’s first two-seat, mid-engined road car, the 246 Dino, as its design was angular, sharp and more forward thinking. Nevertheless, the 308 was an instant hit and it came to define late ’70s and early ’80s sports cars. As successful as the 308 was, Ferrari’s engineers found ways to refine its design and mechanics without losing the flair that defined it. What emerged was a car that was improved in every aspect; a car that could stand tall amongst its siblings; that car was the 328. The Ferrari 328 exhibited several subtle differences from its predecessor, including moulded bumpers, a slightly smaller front grille and a roof spoiler. Pininfarina’s designers also smoothed out the shape of the body to make it appear slightly less aggressive overall. Inside, Ferrari introduced new and more supportive seats and refined ergonomics with improved general quality to make the car’s driving experience more intuitive. Mechanically, overall capacity was raised to 3186cc through increasing the bore and stroke which helped to bring maximum horsepower to 270 at 7000rpm. It could also reach a top speed of 160mph and travel from 0–60 in a brisk 5.5 seconds.AUTOMATICThis genuine right hand drive Ferrari was originally registered on 1st May 1987 and has covered 44,865 miles since. These super stylish machines are magnificent to look at and even more fun to drive. The vendor has only used this Ferrari sparingly under his stewardship and has therefore decided to sell her. Finished in the traditional colour combination of Rosso Corsa and Crema interior and sitting on a well-shod set of tyres this 328 GTS is a perfect car for the summer ahead. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate, interested parties should note that this vehicle was subject to a Category C insurance claim in 1996.

The Jaguar XK120 was manufactured between 1948 and 1954 and was their first sports car since the SS100 which ceased production in 1940. It was launched in roadster form at the 1948 London Motor Show as a show car for the new Jaguar XK engine. It caused a sensation thus persuading Jaguar founder and design boss William Lyons to put the car into production. The '120' in its name referred to its top speed which made the XK120 the world's fastest standard production car at the time of its launch. It was available in two open versions; first as the roadster, then also as a drophead coupé from 1953 and also as a closed, or 'fixedhead' coupé from 1951. With alloy cylinder head and twin side-draft SU carburettors, the double overhead-cam 3.4 litre straight six XK engine was comparatively advanced for a mass produced unit of the time. With a standard compression ratio of 8:1 it developed 160bhp. This same basic design of the XK engine, later modified into 3.8 litre and 4.2 litre versions, survived into the late 1980s.AUTOMATICThis original early right hand drive Jaguar XK120 roadster with chrome sidelights and no side vents, was originally supplied by Henley's to its original owner a Mr Oswald Salvador with a registration MGT 883. The Jaguar was purchased in the summer of 1969 by the previous owner who at the tender age of 19 paid £190 for it. In the intervening 49 years the XK has been used in competition like the Wiscombe Hillclimb with the Aston Martin Owners Club, touring with the Jaguar Owners Club and classic rallies. In 2010 the XK was the subject of a body off restoration, the chassis was galvanized, the rear springs were replaced with nine leaf alpine springs, a thicker anti-roll bar and Mk. II steering bushes were fitted, the rear axle was replaced with a Salisbury axle disc brakes were fitted all round and 16-inch 54 spoke wire wheels fitted. The original 3.4 litre engine block has been bored out to 3.8 litre with 9:1 compression ratio pistons. The head is a later type which has been straight ported and gas flowed, fitted with high lift camshafts and lead free valves and seats (the original stud less head comes with the car), the carburation is uprated with two inch SU’s carburettors. The body was stripped to bare metal and all necessary repairs were carried out before a full respray in the original colour of bronze. The interior has been re-trimmed in two-tone tan leather with matching carpets and the steering wheel is a smaller diameter leather rimmed example to allow the very tall driver access. This XK 120 is supplied with a V5C registration document, a Heritage certificate and a history file containing receipts, service details, MoT's and photographs of the restoration.

Aston Martin Vantage V550

Lot # 159

While the Vantage did bear some resemblance to the Virage, closer examination would reveal many differences - more obvious of which are the deep front spoiler, its lower stance and the flared wheel arches, which all combine to give the car a fearsome appearance, in fact only the roof and doors were common to both cars. Priced at close to £200,000 when new, these rare and powerful cars were hand built at The Aston Martin factory at Newport Pagnell. It was equipped with a 5.3 litre V8 engine sporting twin superchargers with the power output around 550 bhp, and the torque was equally impressive at 555 ft/lbs. Top speed was 186 mph, with a 0-60 mph time of just 4.6 seconds - an astonishing feat for such a large car and at the time, this was the most powerful production engine in the world. This right hand drive example, with a manual gearbox, was originally supplied by Aston Martin dealer Reg Vardy in Tyne and Wear to Mr Stephen Gibson, Chairman of Middlesbrough Football Club. It was first registered on 27th October 1997 and finished in Suffolk red coachwork with magnolia hide and red piping. Under Mr Gibson's tenure the car had nine service stamps from Reg Vardy, He sold the car in March 2003 to an Aston Martin enthusiast and the new owner then instructed AM Works Service to maintain the car with the history file containing invoices for servicing and maintenance throughout his ownership. Additional invoices from numerous specialists are contained in the very large history file including recent bills with Aston Martin trained technician and race prep engineer currently running an Aston Martin GT4, Will Khoo who owns and runs AJ Tech Automotive and whom the fastidious vendor trusts immensely.AUTOMATICWill Khoo who owns and runs AJ Tech by saying he is the senior race technician for a team that currently runs an Aston Martin GT4.AUTOMATICA total of 16 stamps can be found in the service booklet and this Vantage is supplied with the original owners handbooks, service booklets and invoices, current MoT test certificate and full UK V5C registration document. Porsche 911 / 964 Carrera 2

Lot # 160

Known internally as the 964, Porsche's new generation 911 debuted in 1989 and was available in two wheel (Carrera 2) and four wheel drive (Carrera 4) guises with its familiar silhouette clothing a radically revamped platform. Boasting a drag coefficient of just 0.32 thanks to its deeper bumpers, smoother sills and flatter floorpan, high speed stability was maintained by the self-deploying rear spoiler which rose above 48mph. Porsche claimed over 85% of it differed from its predecessor which was a significant step forward in the 911 evolution and represented one of the biggest advances in Porsche history. Powered by an extensively reworked 3.6 litre air cooled flat six equipped with twin spark plugs per cylinder and a remapped Bosch Motronic fuel injection, the 964 claimed an impressive 250bhp and 229lbft of torque. Fitted with a five speed manual gearbox as standard, most variants were reputed to be capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of over 160mph. Probably the most versatile air cooled 911 you can buy whilst still enjoying everyday use, the 964 had been almost disregarded in collector terms; but in the last 18 months, collectors and enthusiasts alike have now recognised the significant role the Porsche 964 has played in the evolution of perhaps the world's most recognised sports car silhouettes and thus prices and desirability have increased remarkably led by the ultra collectable RS examples.AUTOMATICMany a Porsche owner has deliberated over the benefits of a Carrera 4 over the purity of the Carrera 2; our vendor staunchly argues that you can only get the feel of a Porsche 911 with two wheels driven by a rear engine example, as originally designed by Ferdinand Porsche himself. This example was first registered on 13th November 1989 and boasts just 28,696 miles from new having had only three former keepers in 28 years. Presented in Guards Red with black leather trim with red piping, the low mileage is certainly reflected in the condition both inside and out. The car has recently undergone recommissioning and a full service from Porsche main dealer, Brooklands Service Centre and, together with the correct maintenance from the previous owners, this Porsche presents as a genuine collector car today. Accompanied by the original service booklet showing service stamps from both main dealers and Porsche specialists Parr Porsche and the substantial history file includes countless invoices from Parr, Porsche and Autofarm which details a light restoration in 2014, together with old MoT certificates. With a current MoT test certificate valid until March 2019 and in fabulous condition, this desirable coupé is an example of why 964 Porsche 911's have risen in stock over the past 12 months and will continue to do so.AUTOMATIC

Mercedes-Benz SL 500

Lot # 161

Following the resounding success of the R107, the R129 Mercedes-Benz SL had a rather tough act to follow, as it still had to carry on the tradition of a fast and reliable grand touring convertible. The advantage designers had with the R129 was technology. By the time the final car rolled off the production line in 1989, these earlier models had been in production for 18 years with very little change. Therefore, the SL 500 featured many new and innovative ideas, such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll-over bar and a more modern multi link rear axle. In addition to this was a fully operating electric roof, windows, door mirrors and seats, which made this model easy and comfortable to operate. The new SL also boasted a more powerful engine and the stopping power was aided by anti-locking braking for added reassurance. This wonderful right hand drive example of this popular sports car, recently imported from Japan, has covered a mere 17,290 km from new and, as such, is in fantastic condition. It is presented in Azurite Blue with blue leather interior and comes with air conditioning, climate control, electric folding mirrors, electric heated seats with memory function. This car also has cruise control, a blue hood, a factory hardtop and it’s original book pack. This is probably one of the best examples on the market today and they are becoming very desirable, especially with low mileage.

Jaguar XJ8 (3.2 litre)

Lot # 162

Jaguar XJ is the designation used for the series of luxury saloons sold under the British marque. The first XJ was launched in 1968 and the designation has been used for successive Jaguar flagship models ever since. The original model was the last Jaguar saloon to have had the input of Sir William Lyons, the company's founder. With the introduction of the X308 generation in 1997 came a switch from the 'XJ6' nomenclature to 'XJ8', reflecting the fact that the X308 cars were powered by a new V8 engine. The exterior styling of the X308 was similar to its predecessor the X300, with minor refinements such as a change to oval indicator lenses and round fog lights. The interior was also updated to eliminate the instrument binnacle used on the X300; instead, three large gauges were set into recesses in the walnut faced dashboard in front of the driver. The major mechanical change was the replacement of both the inline-six and V12 engines with new eight-cylinder V8 in either 3.2 litre or 4.0 litre versions. Manual transmission was not available with all X308 models supplied with a five-speed automatic gearbox.AUTOMATICThis is probably one of the finest examples of Jaguar’s flagship models, which came out in 1997, and imported recently from Japan, it is presented in dark blue with beige leather and velour interior. It has covered just over 2000 miles from new and comes with all books and spare keys, air conditioning and electric windows. This is the 3.2 litre V8 model providing a superbly quiet and refined ride with power to boot when needed. These models were produced to compete at the highest level with their German rivals and were deemed to be more reliable than its predecessor. The interior is as new and the bodywork is in great condition. At a reasonable reserve, this car is certainly good value considering its exemplary condition.
