**EXTREMELY SCARCE AND HIGHLY SOUGHT GUIDE LAMP M3 A1 GREASE GUN

Lot # 1000 (Sale Order: 1 of 456)

(CURIO & RELIC). SN 638777. Cal. 45 ACP. 8-1/8" bbl. Very attractive and well made M3A1 grease gun by Guide Lamp complete with US ordnance markings on left side of magazine well. Mag well SN is the only visible SN. Includes one 30 round magazine. This model cocks by opening the ejection port housing cover and pulling back the bolt using a recessed area on the bolt itself. Telescoping wire shoulder stock, fixed peep sights, and all steel construction made this the must less costly successor to the Thompson and rising sub-machine guns of WWII. It has an interesting safety mechanism that when the bolt is back and the ejector port cover is closed, a tab on the cover holds the bolt in the rear position, even when the trigger is actuated. One must open the ejector port cover in order for the bolt to move forward and fire. Although produced in great numbers and widely used, relatively few specimens made it into the National Firearms Act registry as curio and relic eligible fully transferable to individuals. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This weapon is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4 as Curio & Relic eligible. CONDITION: Very fine with a smooth dull gray green re-finish with a soft, felt like material inside the ejector port cover. Some brassing and thinning to the finish particularly at the high points with the occasional scratch and pin prick pitting visible under the finish. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is fine to very fine. While the Thompsons are exceedingly popular collectors items, the US military grease gun is actually just as if not more comfortable to shoot and has been increasingly sought after as a item of collector's interest, especially after the premiere of such films as "The Dirty Dozen". 53165-7 JWK C&R

*OUTSTANDING CONDITION INCREDIBLY RARE AND HISTORIC MARCH 1962 HECKLER AND KOCH

Lot # 1009 (Sale Order: 10 of 456)

G3 MK SEMI-AUTO RIFLE. SN MK2088. SN MK 2088. Cal. 7.62 x 51 MM (.308), 19 1/14" bbl. Incredibly rare "ghost" of the collectible H & K rifles in America. This is a nearly identical rifle to the one offered in our March 14-15, 2016 auction. These were the very first of the G3 rifles imported into America in March of 1962 for the Santa Fe Division of the Golden State Arms Corporation. This fantastic specimen is one of reportedly only around 20 examples imported in the very first shipment into the United States and uniquely distinguishable from later July and November offerings of the same year. Marked "G3 MK 2088" and "HK 3/62" on left side of magazine housing with corresponding matching numbered lower and buttstock housing, SN "088 on the lower housing and the backplate of the buttstock match the receiver. Consignor has included in addition to the extremely and attractive wooden hand guard the extremely desirable metal handguard w/fold-out bipod legs. This is an extremely rare orig accessory. Also included is an original Shooting Times magazine dated November 1963 which contains an article by Capt. George C. Nonte Jr. on the H & K G-3. Also a copy of the orig 1963 Santa Fe Golden State Arms Corp promotional sales listing as well as a copy of the Golden State Arms Corp. G-3 instruction manual with a photo copy of the orig accessory sheets showing what was available and the prices. These guns were the purposely made semi-automatic "brothers" to the military select fire versions being fielded at the time. Although at first glance safety appears to have three positions, a raised dimple prevents it being moved beyond the 2nd position. Receiver is attractively marked, "MADE IN GERMANY FOR (LOGO) SANTA FE DIVISION GOLDEN STATE ARMS CORPORATION CALIFORNIA – U.S.A. CAL. 7.62 MM NATO". Top of bolt marked, "HK 3/62" and proofed "U". The bolt carrier marked "HK 4/62". Beautiful wooden buttstock and 2 forends, 1 wooden and the other metal w/bipod. Pistol grip is a hard black composite and so is butt plate. Bird cage flash hider at muzzle. This specimen includes one orig 20-rnd magazine marked, "G3 HK 4/62". This early model of the G3 was manufactured on Mauser tooling and is the pathfinder of the modern "modular" weapons concept, where a basic receiver design could be transformed into a specialized application for different kinds of uses, such as straightforward plain battle rifle, or folding stock for paratroop, or armor. Scopes and bipods, were easily fitted to this design in a successful attempt to meet the varying needs of the modern assault rifle. This design provided the framework for the MP5 and nearly all firearm platforms manufactured by Heckler and Koch for more than 3 decades. Included with this lot is an orig November 1963 "Shooting Times" with article by Capt. George C. Nonte Jr. on one of these early guns. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine orig smooth lustrous gray-blue finish on all metal parts. There is some slight loss of finish to bare metal where the charging handle meets the high edges of the charging handle slot and also where the selector moves against the receiver. There is also a couple of other errant blemishes and along the high edges of the magazine well. Magazine has a couple of brown spots, but none of this in any way detracts from the outstanding condition. The wood of forend and stock is exceedingly attractive, w/only the lightest of handling marks. It is interesting to note the early weld/manufacturing techniques used on this rifle. Internal parts and bore of this rifle are near pristine. Bolt face is particularly attractive, as is the grain of the wooden forend and buttstock. Bore is excellent, shiny, and bright. Shooting Times magazine in very fine orig complete condition. Although this rifle has obviously been shot, it must have been very little, and even then immediately cared for. Many of us are used to the later H & K guns and it is an extremely rare and welcome treat to see such an early specimen, particularly in such clean and attractive condition. Specimens such as these almost never surface on the collector market, and it is difficult to imagine a finer specimen. The fact that it is Curio & Relic eligible in addition to its scarcity make this a top prize for the modern rifle enthusiast. 53233-1 JWK C&R

**EXTREMELY RARE BEISTUI HERMANOS MM31 BROOMHANDLE SELECT FIRE MACHINE GUN PISTOL

Lot # 1011 (Sale Order: 12 of 456)

(FULLY TRANSFERABLE). SN 28848. Cal. 7.63 Mauser. 5-1/2" bbl. Very rare Beistui Hermanos Modelo Militar 1931, competitor to the far more familiar Mauser broomhandle and Astra machine pistols. The MM31 has a screwed in bbl and exhibits model logo on the flat of the left side of receiver. This mimicry was likely meant to deceive the Chinese who were avid customers for the select fire broomhandle pistols, and could not readily differentiate the Mauser logo from others. This model pistols design and mechanism was actually rather more sturdy than the Mausers. Selector on left side marked "N (normal-semi automatic" and "R (for "rapid" full automatic fire)". Visible numbers appear matching Spanish proof marks on right side of frame with "Made in Spain" on frame behind trigger. Wooden shoulder stock included with stippled initials on both sides no SN on stock. This MM31 is of the fixed 10 shot mag type. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This weapon is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish extremely fine as refinished over some very light pitting mostly on right side with some softening to the Spanish proof marks on right side. Hardened bolt stop and safety have turned a plum color upon refinish. Wood grips are very fine. Shoulder stock very good with a small piece of wood missing at top right where it meets the attachment iron and with repaired cracks running horizontally 11" on the latch side with a repaired crack that runs semi-circular all the way from the thumb latch around to the opening at the latch side of the stock. Mechanics are fine. Bore is shiny and bright. Bolt, internal mechanism and hammer as well as sight ladder are polished in the white. Actually a very fine example of a very scarce machine gun pistol. 53171-23 JWK

***SHOOTER'S DREAM DWM MG-08 MAXIM MACHINE GUN AS REGISTERED BY ERB

Lot # 1014 (Sale Order: 15 of 456)

Please Note: 1) Magnificent addition: Consignor found and has provided an original C.E. JUNCKER mfg machine gunners badge. This is an extremely difficult find collector's piece. 2) Please Note (3/19/2018): There is a typographical error. The estimate should be $15,000-$20,000. In addition, the Finnish steel 7.62 Russian belt loading machine is not included with this lot. CONVERTED TO 7.62 RUSSIAN (FULLY TRANSFERABLE). SN 5461. Cal. 7.62x54R. 33" bbl with flash hider. This attractive MG-08 Maxim was originally mfg by DWM Berlin in 1918. SN's match on water jacket, top cover, left sideplate, fusee cover, and optic sight bracket. Gun has been registered by Charles Erb and left sideplate sports his bullet logo address below the fusee cover. Gun has been professionally converted to 7.62 Russian by adapting a Russian feed block, bolt, and charging handle, cross head and bbl. Cyrillic markings visible on cross head, charging handle and on top of feed block surface which has been renumbered to "12A". Included with this lot is an original WWI Swiss tripod SN 7593 with trunnion adapter for MG-08, camouflaged "ear cutout" M-18 helmet with post-war replacement liner and chin strap, four Russian-style ammunition belt boxes; three with empty Finnish belt's and one with steel cased 7.62 Russian ammo. Also included is one steel tabbed Russian cloth belt. Also a Finnish steel 7.62 Russian belt loading machine in its can and a camouflaged painted water can. Gun has a reproduction muzzle plate with Imperial proofed muzzle and bearing. Steam hose brass fitting at front of water jacket is a post-war replacement. The top cover extractor assist springs are replacements, with the heads of the attachment screws visible on top cover. Water jacket fill cap chain is present however, wooden/hard rubber thumb piece is not present. Seven crates of 7.62 x 54 Russian ammo in sealed tins (approx 6200 rounds) are included with this lot. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This item is fully transferable on an ATF Form 3 or Form 4. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very fine as refinished over light pitting on top cover, rear sight bracket, top and sides of fusee cover as well as to a lesser degree on both side plates. Water jacket is an attractive olive green with a couple of very small dings and some scratches and handling marks. Fusee cover has also taken a slight ding at the high edge parallel to the front feed block. Feed block actuator arm exhibits some plum color from heat treating upon rework. It is interesting to note that the feed block was adapted by welding an approx 3/8" spacer plate on the front of the feed block. This cataloger has seen such conversions before. Back plate handles have somewhat more moderate pitting underneath the refinish and handles have been restored to be completely serviceable. Tripod is in outstanding condition, hardly used. Mechanics are fine. Bore is fine with sharp grooves and bright rifling. Belt loading machine is in very fine condition with crisp mechanics. Both helmet and water can exhibit an attractive camouflage pattern of correct period color and pattern. However, it is unlikely in this cataloger's opinion that this is vintage WWI paint. The MG-08 Maxim was the ultimate well-made machine gun made on a large scale for WWI. Beautifully machined and fitted. It is always an attention getter at the range. This specimen, converted to 7.62 Russian is particularly popular as the 7.62 Russian ammunition is still readily obtainable at a relatively reasonable price. Add to this that this gun utilizes Russian, or Finnish metal or cloth belts, and you have one very attractive ensemble. 52001-1 JWK

52001-1 JWK

**EARLY MANUFACTURED FULLY TRANSFERABLE ORIGINAL GERMAN MG-42 MACHINE GUN (FULLY TRANSFERABLE).

Lot # 1015 (Sale Order: 16 of 456)

SN 2550. Cal. 8 MM MAUSER. 21" bbl. Gustfloff "dfb" manufactured MG-42 machine gun which was assembled in 1943 as indicated by markings on left side of receiver. Incoming E-File indicates "Form 2" in manufacturer block. Consignor states that this gun was registered by the CIA as part of a grouping of five guns so registered. Eagle proofs over "WaA" on top of receiver. Bbl SN does not match receiver SN. Top cover and feed tray are also Nazi marked "bpr" with Nazi proofs also visible on late style handgrip assembly which has smooth wooden grip panels. Bi-pod is also Nazi marked and dated 1943. Cam locking frame manufactured by Mauser "ar" with clear Nazi eagle proof. AA flip up rear sight bar present at rear sight base. Bbl in gun is 8 MM. Wooden unnumbered butt is orig Nazi WWII without wire reinforcement and dated "43". The MG-42 machine gun was the successor to the MG-34 and was designed with a higher rate of fire and more importantly was manufactured using less time consuming and less expensive methods of stamping, shaping, and welding metal parts as opposed to machining or milling them out of billets of steel. Although both the MG-34 and MG-42 were produced through the end of WWII, the MG-42 with its high rate of fire made a very distinct impression upon American servicemen. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This weapon is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine as re-finished over light pitting with some light scratches and scuffs to bare metal. Cam lock frame has taken on a plum colored appearance. Bi-pod exhibits light pitting under bright blue re-finish. Smooth wood grip panels have a couple of chips and some bruises but are still completely serviceable. Wooden buttstock in about the same condition with an original wooden plug visible at toe with discernible Nazi three letter code (hvn?) followed by "43" on left side. Mechanics are fine. Bore is fine, shiny and bright. The MG-42 is one of the most sought after of the WWII German machine guns, and notable about this specimen is the fact that it is a 1943 manufactured gun which retains its orig unmodified wooden butt and factory matched bi-pod. 53171-1 JWK C&R

Lot # 1016 (Sale Order: 17 of 456)

WITH ACCESSORIES (C&R). SN 1165B. Cal. 8mm. 21" bbl. Butt manufactured in 1943 by Johann Frohlich. Unnumbered top cover manufactured by Carl Eickhorn. Shroud marked "bpr" indicating Grossfuss manufacturer. The MG42 was manufactured utilizing the innovative process of stamping steel pieces, bending and welding them into component parts which speeded the production over the earlier MG34 which was primarily of milled steel construction. The MG42's sound upon firing has been likened to a buzz saw or ripping canvas with a rate of fire so fast that some modern shot timers cannot distinguish between the reports. This extremely well accessorized specimen includes four .308 bbls in addition to the one orig "ar" marked non-matching SN bbl in gun. Three bbl carriers one of which is Nazi marked brown paint dated 1943. One Nazi marked assault drum carrier with two 50 rnd assault drums with belt links. One SA marked ammunition can with display ammunition on WWII era belt links. One 8mm belt loading machine in can with red diagonal stripe on can. One orig camouflage paint oil lubricants box with orig WWII lubricant cans. Two sealed MG1 belt link packets. One spare 8mm top cover SN 2201 with feed tray. Two .308 top covers with one .308 feed tray. One buffer assembly. One .308 muzzle. One 8mm WWII era muzzle. One charging handle. One WWII era hand grip. Two sealed in orig packaging post WWII German grip frame assemblies. One braided coil mainspring. Two rear sight assemblies. One pressed paper & leather gunners pouch with oil cans. Pouch does not appear to have any makers marks or proof marks. Also included is an orig WWII German optic sight manufactured by "cme" "Wichmann" in orig box and Lafette tripod with Nazi marked elevation gear with Yugoslavian data plate on top of carrier table. Many such tripods were assembled or WWII era tripods reconditioned using a mixture of parts. This is a National Firearms Act weapon and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This item is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or 4 as Curio & Relic eligible. CONDITION: Very fine overall. Mixture of wartime style refinish with some orig finish parts such as bbl in gun, spare Nazi marked grip with brown grip panels and adjustable bipod assembly. Very clear unbuffed markings typical of wartime refinishing practices. There is some areas of light pitting on the shroud and right side of receiver underneath the refinish. Hand grip currently on gun rates about very good with an overall brown patina with this grip held in place by a simple stud with cotter pin. Wooden Nazi marked butt exhibits wire reinforcement at collar with a coat of black paint, very typical of Waffenmeister field work. Mechanics are fine. Bores are also fine and shiny. Nazi marked bbl has some light surface corrosion towards the muzzle which should clean up. Shiny bore progressing to more dark with some light pitting near the muzzle. Optics of sight are clear. Metal accessories are very fine, orig finish. Spare hand grip has some brassing to bare metal at the bottom of the hand grip frame but very attractive in all respects. The German WWII MG42 is one of the most highly sought of the WWII collectible machine guns. This specimen is in really quite fine condition with a seldom found orig Nazi marked buttstock. It will be certain to attract the attention of the discerning WWII collector as both a gun that is historical and also a lot of fun to shoot. It is especially nice that it has .308 parts, missing only the inner muzzle bearing to convert this to fire the common .308. 52939-31 JWK C&R

**EXCEPTIONALLY FINE LATE WAR GERMAN WWII MG-34 MACHINE GUN, W/ LAFETTE

Lot # 1017 (Sale Order: 18 of 456)

TRIPOD. SN 7663. Cal. .8 MM. 26" bbl w/flash hider. Exceptional late war specimen of the German MG-34 machine gun manufactured by "dot" (Waffenwerke Brunn)complete w/highly sought Lafette tripod w/carrying straps, sling, belts, and w/orig ZF-34 optics marked w/matching SN to gun. Visible numbers on gun appear matching including shroud, top cover, receiver, buffer, buffer cup and stock. Top cover is maker mark "pem," which is an established subcontractor for MG-34 parts. Bolt SN hand inscribed, as is appropriate. Bbl is also orig matching, manufactured by "dot" (Waffenwerke Brunn). Feed tray numbered "7663" (renumber) on left side with mfg "cof". Hand grip also matches SN "63" at front of trigger guard. Bi-pod is of the earlier style w/adjustment knob unnumbered but marked "dfb 1942" w/Eagle over 4 proof mark. Wooden butt has Israeli property mark discernible on right side over "1-56", it also exhibits matching SN, "nvq 45" maker's code and date w/Eagle proof visible left side. Muzzle Bearing exhibits hand inscribed "47". Accessories include orig MG-34 Lafette tripod manufactured in 1939 w/ZF 34 optic, manufactured by the "Artillery Optic Company" Ungarische Obtische Werke, out of Budapest. Black leather carrying straps also included, as well as a rare 250-rd fortress belt, two 100-rd belt segments and 2 contemporary 50-rd belt segments. Optic is textile numbered "7663" which matches gun SN. The MG-34 was a finely made milled steel machine gun which saw extensive use throughout the war and was a popular souvenir for American soldiers. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This weapon is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4 as Curio & Relic eligible. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine. Orig late war gray finish on rear of shroud and top cover w/much more lustrous blue finish on forward portion of shroud, feed block, receiver and rear sight. Buffer and stock attachment cup have more of a faded, yet blued finish. Feed tray also a smooth gray late war finish w/a couple of dings noticeable at left side. Wooden butt has a 3" long crack running parallel to the bore line at top left side, yet remains strong and serviceable. Wood of butt has been coated w/some kind of satin gloss preservative w/left side markings stamped through this protective coating. Mechanics are crisp, extremely fine, brilliant bright bore. It is the opinion of this cataloger that the bbl shroud receiver and buffer, as well as bolt and handgrip are all factory orig matching parts, while the top cover, which is unquestionably orig w/clear orig Nazi proofs has the appropriate pantograph number precisely matching the receiver number, likely a Waffenmeister added number. Tripod is repainted, but it's mechanics are crisp, optics are clear. Black leather pads of tripod very fine w/white textile marker added shield with SS markings on upper pad w/textile marking quotation mark "XII SS Hitler Jungend" on lower pad. This is an outstanding MG-34 ensemble. Everything w/the exception of the butt is unquestionably pre-May 1945. It would be difficult to find a more matching or authentic MG-34 collector's ensemble. The markings on the Lafette pads regardless of whether one accepts them as authentic do not in any way detract from the value of this ensemble. 53166-3 JWK C&R

**GERMAN MG34 MACHINE GUN DEWAT CAPTURED NEAR SAABRUCKEN, GERMANY WINTER 1944-45

Lot # 1018 (Sale Order: 19 of 456)

(CURIO & RELIC). SN 4650C. 7.92mm. 24" bbl. This MG34 was manufactured by "dot" (Waffenwerke Brunn) in 1944 and it is so marked on bbl shroud. Top cover, receiver, buttstock and buttstock collar all match in SN. Buffer and bolt match with SN 8797. Top cover marked "bpr" (Grossfuss). Receiver and shroud marked with eagle/"waa63" indicating Waffenwerke Brunn. Bipod is marked "dfb 1944" with eagle/"4" proof mark (Gustloff). Feed tray not present. Museum textile marking at bottom of bbl shroud. Bolt moves back and forth about 4" from forward position within receiver. This weapon has been rendered unserviceable by welding chamber shut and spot welding bbl shroud to receiver below latch where receiver meets shroud slot. Welding of chamber of bbl does not appear to have discolored bbl collar nor to have removed significant amounts of material from chamber itself. Top cover latch does not seat all the way in recess of receiver. This gun was captured by "G" company, 2nd Br, 276th Inf. Reg., 70th Inf. Div. Task Force Herren, near Saarbrucken, Germany and brought home by then LTC Theo C. Mataxis. Included in this lot are copies of the original documentation authorizing the weapons exit from the European Theater of Operations, a certified copy of the original amnesty registration form, evidence that this weapon was on display at the Army War College Museum, and a document which states that this weapon was used as a display prop in the film Taps (1981) in the movie home of the General portrayed by actor George C. Scott. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This weapon is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4 as Curio & Relic eligible. PROVENANCE: Personal Collection of B.G. (RET) Theo C. Mataxis, Veteran of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, & adviser to Afghanistan forces fighting against Soviet occupation during the 1980s. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is fine with about 80% blued finish remaining with some areas of pitting on top cover, anti aircraft ring and other spots on weapon. There are scratches to bare metal and much of the finish is turning to brown patina. Notable bullet strike to right front side of muzzle booster which has raised and pushed back metal about 1/8". This does not affect function. Rear sight ladder is missing its sight leaf on right side which has apparently simply been slid off ladder and lost. Buttstock has a 2-1/4" crack from collar straight back to rear at 11 o'clock position. Buttstock also has chips, bruises and scratches but is still serviceable. This weapon, which is in "as brought back" condition with its battle damage and provenance to a noted American officer should be of significant interest to collectors of WWII German arms. It would not take too much effort to get this gun running with the appropriate parts. 52924-6 JWK106 C&R

**GERMAN MP40 SUB MACHINE GUN DEWAT CAPTURED IN JANUARY 1945 DURING

Lot # 1022 (Sale Order: 23 of 456)

GERMAN OFFENSIVE (CURIO & RELIC). SN CND300K. Cal. 9mm. 9.9" bbl. This MP40 is a combination of two different SN guns put together. This gun is exactly as brought back from WWII. Tube, bbl and magazine housing assembly was assembled by Steyr and bears SN 396m and eagle/"623" proof marks. Bolt lower assembly receiver cap and swing out shoulder loop were assembled by Erma and are SN 300k. Receiver cap is marked "MP40/ayf 42" indicating this was made by Erma in 1942. Lower frame assembly is marked "cnd" which indicates manufacture by Krupp in Berlin. Swing out shoulder loop was manufactured by Erma and is marked with eagle/"280". Bolt is marked with eagle/"280" and SN 300k with eagle/swastika final proof. Bbl resting bar and retaining pin are not present. Bottom of bbl marked with eagle/"623" proof mark and shield logo with "bnz/1" proof mark (Steyr). Although bolt moves freely under proper spring tension within receiver and bolt face is excellent, chamber has been plugged with weld. A significant amount of chamber face has been removed during this process. Bbl nut has been spot welded to forward sling ring and receiver tube forward of magazine housing and this has caused a discoloration of metal. For these reasons this weapon is currently unserviceable. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is good with about 30% of orig blue finish remaining with otherwise liberal pitting, corrosion and brown patina on metal surfaces. Bakelite of lower assembly is in fine condition with some scratches and handling marks. Hand grip panels have some chips and handling marks but otherwise very serviceable. Receiver tube bushing fastened in place using two indentations in receiver tube forward of magazine housing at 6 and 12 o'clock positions. This is the manufacturing method often seen on Steyr manufactured MP40s. Bbl nut is of two flat side type. Mechanics need attention, but reactivation of this gun could be a straight forward replacement of bbl assembly. Theo C. Mataxis' memoirs indicate it was captured by him personally near Wimmenau from a German artillery Forward Observation team on patrol in January 1945, during which action he was wounded and subsequently awarded the Purple Heart. 52924-7 JWK105 C&R
