The cast iron figure of Uncle Sam, based on Thomas Nast drawing of 1877, is standing upon the base with raised eagle design and the words "Uncle Sam"; he hol...moreds a green cast iron umbrella in his left hand and a cast iron satchel with raised lettering U.S. is at his feet. When a coin is placed in his hand, and the lever pushed, he lowers his hand to drop the coin in the satchel which opens up; meanwhile his beard wags up and down. Very good/excellent, mechanism is complete and functioning, painted finish is original albeit with some rubs and fading. American, circa 1886, Shepard & Adams.

When a coin is placed in the rifle barrel and William's right foot pressed, he nods forward, and the rifle releases the coin toward the apple on the boy's head, and then is captured into the bank. American Cast Iron Mechanical Bank "Paddy and the Pig" Glass Eyes by J. & E. Stevens 1100/1500

Seated upon the iron base is an Irishman with sculpted hat emblazoned with a shamrock, with brown glass movable eyes and hinged jaw, dark brown jacket, yellow...more trousers, and holding a white piglet in his lap. When a coin is placed on the piglet's nose and the lever pushed, the piglet kicks up his foot, popping the coin backwards into the hinging-open mouth of Irishman whose eyes also roll back and forth. Very good/excellent, finish all original with some paint wear and rubs, mechanism intact and functioning, coin trap missing. American, circa 1880s, J. & E. Stevens.

7 1/2" (19 cm.) A large brown cast iron bear is standing at one end of a the cast iron base, and at the other end, a Native American is posed kneeling, his rifle aimed at...more the bear. When a coin is placed in the barrel slot of the rifle, and lever released, the Native American nods his head and fires the coin into the coin slot of the bear who opens and closes his mouth. With early "Pat Pend" embossed plaque on the underside base. Overall good with original paint except feathers are replaced. American, 1880s, J. & E. Stevens.

When coin is placed in the cannon, the hammer pulled back, and the thumb-piece press...moreed, the coin is shot into the tower, while the soldier's arm rises as though directing "Fire!" The coin trap is impressed "Patd Feb 2 1875" and the base is impressed "Pat May 31 1892". Overall good, the base and tower are separated, original painted finish albeit some fading, mechanism functions well. American, 1890s, J. & E. Stevens.

The eagle...more has glass eyes and hinged wings. When the coin is placed in the eagle's beak, and lever pressed, the eagle leans forward, spreading his wings, and drops the coin into the eaglets' nest; while simultaneously the eaglets reach upward, their little mouths opening and closing. Structurally excellent with original paint albeit rubbed, mechanism functions well. Incised "Pat, Jan. 23 1883" on underside. American, circa 1883, J. & E. Stevens.

Bisque socket head with flattened solid dome, blue glass paperweight inset eyes with spiral threading, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly-feathered brows...more, rose-blushed eyelids, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with downcast pouting expression and with defined space between the outlined lips, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body with straight wrists. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: (indecipherable model number). Comments: Sonneberg, mystery maker, circa 1885, the model closely resembles the "circle/dot" bebe of Leon Casimir Bru whose market the Sonneberg maker sought to capture. Value Points: pristine unplayed with condition, the beautiful doll wears factory original red silk frock, undergarments, bonnet, socks and shoes. Ex-collection of Doris Hupp whose dolls were featured in Woman's Day magazine of January, 1965.

Arranged upon a velvet-covered wooden base is a bisque-head bebe standing behind a wooden toilette table upon which is arranged a bounty of toilette articles...more; the bebe has blue glass paperweight inset eyes, painted lashes and brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, open mouth, six tiny porcelain teeth, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms, and is wearing ivory satin dress with applique lace and red satin bows, undergarments, shoes, and a wide-brimmed red satin bonnet. When wound, the doll turns her head side to side and then upright, while she alternately powders her nose and lifts her hand mirror to gaze at her reflection. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: L.B. (key) (and original paper music tune label on base). Comments: Leopold Lambert, with bisque head by Emile Jumeau, circa 1890. Value Points: very elegant and luxurious automaton which functions beautifully and has strong musical tunes.
