Lot # 17 (Sale Order: 17 of 326)

Colt, Model 1862, Conversion Revolver, manufactured in 1872. This revolver has New York style engraving that was likely executed by Louis D. Nimschke for a New York deale...morer. The barrel, frame, loading gate and trigger guard are silver plated, and the ejector housing, cylinder, hammer, and trigger have a gold washed finish and is fitted with Tiffany style grip. This revolver is extensively illustrated and described in detail on pages 290-291 of "Magnificent Colts, Volume II" by R.L. Wilson. The top of the barrel is stamped with "ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA". The mark on the side of the frame "COLTS PATENT" is hand engraved in a flowing ribbon. The SN "3583" is located on the bottom of the barrel, frame, and trigger guard. The revolver is profusely engraved and retains a high percentage of the silver plated and gold washed finish. The gold finish is thin on the high points of the ejector housing, cylinder, and hammer, and there is some finish wear on the bottom of the trigger guard and grip strap.

Lot # 18 (Sale Order: 18 of 326)

U.S. marked Colt,1860 Army, First Model Richards Conversion. This Colt was converted from an 1860 Army to use .44 center fire cartridges by Colt in 1871-1872. The SN 376 ...morematches on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, back strap, breech plate and cylinder. The action is tight and functions properly. The wood grips have faint cartouches on both sides, fit properly and are original to the gun. The Colts Patent on the frame is strong and clear. The barrel address is light but completely readable on the 8? barrel. Traces of the cylinder scene are still visible. The bore is strong with only minor roughness. This is a nice, clean example of a scarce Colt 1860 conversion.
