Irish Football Association Challenge Cup runners-up medal awarded to Fred Barrett of Belfast Celtic F.C. in 1915, 9ct. gold, IRISH FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION, EST. 1880, C.F.C....more, RUNNERS-UP, IRISH CHALLENGE CUP, F. BARRETT, 1915 In the 1915 Irish F.A. Cup Final Linfield beat Belfast Celtic 1-0 at Cliftonville, Belfast. Fred Barrett, together with team-mate Jimmy Ferris, were transferred to Chelsea in March 1920. Barrett made 70 League & Cup appearances at full-back for the Blues until 1926. He then returned to Ireland to play for Dundalk.

Silver cigarette box presented to Joseph Theophelus Mears, founder of Chelsea Football Club, and dated 27th March 1902, the lid engraved with initials JTM and dated, ceda...morer wood interior, 9 by 18cm., a few indentations but generally good Joseph Theophilus ''JT'' Mears (1871-1935) purchased Stamford Bridge Athletics Ground and co-founded Chelsea Football Club in 1905 with his brother. Although he was never chairman, Joseph was the dominant influence at the club after the death of his brother in 1912, and his son Joe and grandson Brian both later serving as chairman of the football club. Further memorabilia relating to the Mears family is offered elsewhere in this auction as lots 870, 897 & 898.

DODDS (CELTIC) Dodds scored one of the goals in the Scottish League's 4-1 victory over the Football League at Hampden Park 1st March 1913. He also won three international caps for Scotland as well as representing the Scottish F.F. Joesph Dodds (1887-1965) was a left-back who played for Celtic in two spells and made 351 League appearances. His is considered to be one of the club's greats of the era. His 1918 Glasgow Charity Cup winne'r medal is being offered in this auction as lot 724.
