***Auction Highlight*** Morgan dollar roll ends 1879 & 'cc', Better than average circ (fc)

Lot # 152 (Sale Order: 128 of 334)

***Auction Highlight*** Morgan dollar roll ends 1879 & 'cc', Better than average circ. Great Original Roll of Morgan Dollars. The roll is held in an old "Steel St...morerong Automatic" Wrapper Dated from 1921. The Roll is also faintly stamped "Banker Trust of Philadelphia, Central City Office, Walnut Street at Juniper". I researched that name and the Bank closed in the post-Crash of '29 Depression period (my research showed that it failed on Dec 22, 1930). The Two ends showing are the obverse of an 1879, and the other end has a 'cc' Carson City Mint Reverse. We received this incredible consignment from a private collector while at the Baltimore show. The consignee gave us his father's entire estate hoard of shotgun rolled coins. We have had great feedback on the rolls so far. Your choice to open the shotgun roll or leave it as is, but if you do open the Roll, please let us know what you find. A Corey's Pick, Bid to Win, Don't let it get Away lot.

1928A $1 Blue Seal Silver Certificate "Funny Back" Grades Choice AU/BU Slider (fc)

Lot # 156 (Sale Order: 132 of 334)

1928A $1 Blue Seal Silver Certificate "Funny Back" Grades Choice AU/BU Slider. 1928 $1 silver certificates do come in several different blocks. The most common blo...moreck is the AA block, the IA, JA, KA, and LA blocks also exist, and these are scarcer. The lowest serial number notes were presented to important officials in Washington DC. These were given out in sheets of 12. There are still some uncut sheets that exist. All 1928 one dollar silver certificate notes feature a portrait of George Washington at center and a blue seal on the left hand side of the note. All 1928 $1 silver certificates are known as “funnybacks.” They get this name from their distinctive back design.

Indian Head Penny 1c Shotgun Roll, 1887 on one end, reverse on the other

Lot # 171.5 (Sale Order: 146 of 334)

Indian Head Penny 1c Shotgun Roll, 1887 on one end, reverse on the other. Shotgun Roll of Indian Cents from Consignee's Estate. Actual roll pictured is the roll you wi...morell get. A great bank shotgun roll of Indian cents 1c. From the feedback we have received, the rolls are filled with a mixture of 1800's and 1900's. The folks who have gotten them have also said that they are better than average circulated condition and all nice Indian cents. All of the shotgun rolls we currently have up are from One Consignee's Estate. A difficult to find original roll. This particular Roll shows an 1887 on one end.

1934A $1 Silver Certificate North Africa, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Grades vf++

Lot # 172 (Sale Order: 147 of 334)

1934A $1 Silver Certificate North Africa, Signatures of Julian & Morgenthau Grades vf++. 1934a $1 Silver Certificate North Africa, Signatures of Julian & Morgentha...moreu. It was the darkest days of World War II, just after Pearl Harbor. Were the Nazis under Field Marshall Rommel preparing a massive push through North Africa? If they did, and succedded, they could use the millions of dollars in currency the seized to buy war material. To thwart this, these Silver Certificates were sent to North Africa. Each has a yellow seal on the front. If the Nazis did succeed to over run our expeditiary force, the currency would be demonetized. After the threat passed, most of these "North Africa" Notes were destroyed. Today they're hard to find.
