Colt Government Model Semi-Auto Pistol

Lot # 1330 (Sale Order: 331 of 805)

serial #80538, 38 Super Auto, 5'' factory replacement barrel with a very good bore showing partial pitting in one groove. This 1950-manufactured importer-marked pistol appears to be one of the many reimported into the country by Odin of Alexandria, Virginia after the 1970's Mexican firearms ban. It has been refinished and a number of parts replaced. The metal surfaces retain about 99% non-factory reapplied blue with a few minor handling marks, an assembly mark and old pitting visible under the new finish plus the metal preparation has softened many of the original and later applied markings. The unmarked fully checkered replacement walnut grips rate excellent. The pistol has all the normal features for the era of manufacture but the barrel and bushing are factory replacement series 70 collet style, the hammer is a Commander style with a round spur, the grip safety is a replacement early style beavertail, the thumb safety is the older WWII checkered style that were used up to 1949 and was probably a left over used up on this transitional model and the right side of the frame is marked ''ODIN ALEX VA''. The pistol includes a single factory marked magazine that shows lightly cleaned surfaces that have mostly toned to brown patina. (88873-303) {MODERN}

Custom Smith & Wesson Model 629-4 Revolver by Larocca Gun Works

Lot # 1339 (Sale Order: 340 of 805)

serial #CBP5156, 44 Magnum, 4'' heavy barrel with an excellent bore. This gun has been lightly customized by renowned gunsmith Mike LaRocca. The metal surfaces of this lovely revolver have been professionally bead-blasted satin-finished and remain in excellent condition with a light turn ring on the cylinder. The rear half inch of the cylinder has been buffed to a high polish accenting the satin surfaces nicely. The hammer spur has been lightly radiused to an acorn shape and the smooth combat trigger has also been radiused for smooth double action shooting. The hammer shows strong case-hardened colors with the tooled areas given a blue/black finish showing light operational wear. The grips are highly modified goncalo alves square butt factory target with silver S&W medallions. The grips were turned into a round butt configuration with a rasp to match the frame but never smoothed, sanded and refinished. They are easily made more presentable with a little judicious file and sandpaper work. The revolver features a Trijicon tritium insert semi-Patridge front sight that no longer glows dovetailed into the barrel ramp and factory white outline micro adjustable rear sight. In addition to the features already mentioned this gun has had one of Mike's action jobs, rear face of the cylinder buffed to a high polish, charge holes radiused and thumbpiece edges lightly melted. It includes the original factory hard case that is correctly end-labeled and numbered to the gun. If you want a smooth reliable gun for your next hike this is an excellent choice. (89102-31) {MODERN}
serial #CBP5156, 44 Magnum, 4'' heavy barrel with an excellent bore. This gun has been lightly customized by renowned gunsmith Mike LaRocca. The metal surfaces of this lo...morevely revolver have been professionally bead-blasted satin-finished and remain in excellent condition with a light turn ring on the cylinder. The rear half inch of the cylinder has been buffed to a high polish accenting the satin surfaces nicely. The hammer spur has been lightly radiused to an acorn shape and the smooth combat trigger has also been radiused for smooth double action shooting. The hammer shows strong case-hardened colors with the tooled areas given a blue/black finish showing light operational wear. The grips are highly modified goncalo alves square butt factory target with silver S&W medallions. The grips were turned into a round butt configuration with a rasp to match the frame but never smoothed, sanded and refinished. They are easily made more presentable with a little judicious file and sandpaper work. The revolver features a Trijicon tritium insert semi-Patridge front sight that no longer glows dovetailed into the barrel ramp and factory white outline micro adjustable rear sight. Colt New Frontier 22 Scout Convertible Revolver

Lot # 1346 (Sale Order: 347 of 805)

serial #L20623, 22 LR / 22 Magnum Rimfire, 4 3/8'' barrel with an excellent bore. The metal surfaces of this 1974 made gun retain about 99% original blue, anodized and case-hardened colors with a light turn ring on the fluted 22 LR cylinder and unfluted 22 WMRF cylinder. The checkered synthetic factory ''Eagle'' grips rate excellent. The revolver features a long serrated ramp front sight and black blade Colt Accro rear sight. It includes the original factory woodgrain box with Styrofoam insert that is correctly end-labeled and numbered to the gun and the aforementioned 22 WMRF cylinder. The 22 WMRF cylinder shows a series of small firing pin impacts on the rear face of the cylinder, some hitting the very edge of the charge hole, caused by dropping the hammer when the cylinder was not fully locked. Both cylinders properly time and lock up and the 22 LR cylinder did not suffer the same fate, probably an inexperienced shooter not fully cocking the firearm. The box rates fair showing light to moderate wear but both ends have masking tape repairs. The ''G'' & ''L'' series of Colt 22 Scout revolvers were the nicest of all the variations offered over the years and are gaining strong collector interest plus they are fun guns to shoot.
